Re: New England Patriots: One for the thumb: Roger that!

Was at game yesterday. Don't know if I have said it before, but Jets fans are the nut low. A (correct) call like that couldn't have gone against a more deserving bunch.

Also apparently the NFL rigs games IN FAVOR of the Patriots for...reasons.

tbh, we'd be pissed if the roles were reversed.

I understand the rule and the decision.

I don't see where there was indisputable visual evidence to overturn the call.

That said, I'm happy with the result.

Re: New England Patriots: One for the thumb: Roger that!

Of course I'd be pissed. Overturn was pretty awful.

But these morons argue every single call against their team. Amendola lying on ground and jets player dives on his prone body? AWFUL CALL!!!!

Gronk gets tackled in endzone? NOT PASS INTERFERENCE!!!!

Legit the most idiotic fans in sports. I haven't even seen a close second.

Re: New England Patriots: One for the thumb: Roger that!

I think it was the correct call. Forget for a second that he landed with the ball. If he fumbled forward and it landed out of bounds through the end zone it was a touchback. The only difference is that he fumbles the ball, and while jumping in the air, he regains it, but his first touch is out of bounds. So that's basically fumbling the ball out of the end zone, he just happened to be the vehicle.

I'm just thinking of the glee you had finding those stats to "stick it to me" while agreeing with my post the entire time. Must have been difficult.

The Pats LBs remain slow and the defense remains garbage. If you came away from that game thinking "4 sacks and 7 plays for a loss, dilly dilly!" then I don't know what to tell you.

I'll never forget that. Also, for when we lost to the Jets on the new rule in 2013.

Re: New England Patriots: One for the thumb: Roger that!

you guys are nuts.

1. ball was out before he crossed the plane.
2. You gotta establish yourself in bounds with the ball to be granted possession of it--holding it firmly in your hands is not enough, you need to comed down in-bounds with it, and this guy clearly didn't do that.

I really don't understand what part of this is controversial.

Now, can we talk about how dumb it is that if you fumble out-of-bounds you keep possession, except for through the end zone? Since I was a small child, that rule never made any sense to me, and I'm still waiting for a satisfactory explanation, all these decades later.

In other news: I haven't watched any Falcons games this year, but I'm concerned they might come into our building this week and hang 70 on us. Talk me down from this.

The only thing that concerns me is that they just lost consecutive games to Buffalo and Miami and now have something else to prove.

That said, Pats win if its a shootout.

do you think it makes more sense that a fumble out of bounds is always a turnover like in basketball, soccer, etc...? that seems to make more sense to me

No. In those sports, it's who touches it last. In football, it's who has possessed it last. Changing the rules gives the defense incentive to knock the ball out of bounds rather than ever try to recover a fumble

Pats are the first team in NFL history to give up six consecutive weeks of 300 plus yard passers. Everyone's been healthy outside of one game for Gilmore. Whose fault is this?

BB has records to chase this season in the wrong direction, but no one will ever point a finger at the guy who buys every grocery, checks for coupons, and makes the stew. We are struggling to field competence on the defensive side of the ball.

lol

Edit: Even if wanted to agree that this is 100% on Belichick (no), what is your solution? Fire him? Tell him he can only coach and no longer act as general manager? Your post clearly suggests something needs to change, so instead of pussyfooting around the issue, just come out and say what exactly you would like to happen here.

My biggest concern about this year so far is Goodie hasn't shown up to tell us we're all crazy and that this is the best team that has ever teamed. If Goodie isn't a believer, we're in deep doodoo.

Right. I can't believe people still engage Salva. He's wanted BB gone for years. I wish Gambool were here to handle all the back and forth.

This team might deserve to be 5-2 after that game.

We're in the hunt for the #1 seed.

Kansas City and Pittsburgh are also 5-2. Buffalo and Miami are 4-2.

I've seen Miami play a few times and they seem like no better than an 8-8 team. How is Buffalo playing?

Re: New England Patriots: One for the thumb: Roger that!

neither Buffalo nor Miami are gonna go at least 12-4 / be in the conversation for a bye.

we're obviously up against it, having lost to KC and having to play on the road @ Pitt. I'm more concerned with getting into the top two than I am of getting the #1. 3 good teams for two spots.

result this week is obviously good, though I think we got some breaks from the Atlanta offense / FG luck. did Gilmore get Wally Pipp'd by Johnson Bademosi?

Re: New England Patriots: One for the thumb: Roger that!

Buffalo is good. Miami is not.

I believe the #1 seed is going to happen. PIT and KC are very good, but even @PIT Pats have to be confident. KC's defense surprisingly awful, given up an average of 445 YPG in their last three.

Last night was impressive by D. If they can be a league average unit, the Pats are the best team in football. Big if, but last night was a move in the right direction.

Don't you have to be good first before you get Wally Pipp'd?

Anyone else concerned that 2 of the Pats only 3 healthy corners are vital special teams players?

No, but Andrew Luck is going to get Wally Pipp'd by Jacoby Brissett.

I mean, yeah, but you can only roster so many Matt Slaters.
