I never hated the Patriots.

I always thought Brady was a hell of a player, and when he had his successes I thought I was seeing greatness and appreciated it.

But this hurts.

And now I really hate the Patriots.

I never "gave up", but at 28-3, I sure didn't have much hope to hold onto.

What an effort by those guys, coaches and players.

Best part: we need a new thread title!

Watching Devonta Freeman and Robert Alford diving/highstepping into the endzone in the highlights fills we with so much schadenfreude.

Going for it on 4th and 3 down 25 midway through the 3rd in a Super Bowl is 1000% obvious, but I bet at least 10% of current NFL coaches still punt it there.

Last time I saw the Kevin Faulk direct snap play was the 2007 game in San Diego -- have we run it anytime between then and today?

Still can't believe somebody (I assume Ernie Adams) ever thought to come up with the fake kneeldown play.

Again, can't say enough about how amazing it is to see my team down to a ~0.4% chance of winning and know that they're not going to give up.

Yeah...I had already gotten through to the "acceptance" stage of grief before it started turning around.

Great season & no reason we can't have more nice things.

Freeman was fine IMO but Alford looked like a total dickhead stopping there for that long.

James White set a Super Bowl record by scoring 20 points (3 touchdowns, 1 two-point conversion).

The old record must have been 18. Several players have three touchdowns.

If you've heard him talk about retirement it's pretty clearly far from his mind. Even a total lost year next year ends with him claiming the all-time regular season wins record, so I think he would need to have two bad years back to back before he even thinks about it.

Congrats everyone. This team has given us so many great moments and I still think nothing can top the first one, but holy hell did that come close. That was the most amazing football game I've witnessed in my life. And I've watched ALOT of football.

I'm still totally dumbfounded about what we all saw.

Falcons would be a pretty scary team if they threw at Julio Jones more than four times in a game.

Pretty crazy three years ago Brady (01, 03, 04) was sitting on three rings and it looked like Peyton (06, in SB), Eli (07, 11) , Ben (05, 08), and Rodgers (10) were going to be competitive with him for greatest QB in this era.

At various points I realized the game was over. The pick 6 to make it 21-0, the Bennett hold to take away the TD, the TD to make it 28-3. I really didn't think we had a chance.

With this team, I always feel like 14 points is a doable comeback. We score, get a stop, we score - boom that's it. With our team totally doable. But down 25 (!!!!) late in the 3rd...Nah

The fourth quarter is still a blur. I'm not sure what happened. We got the TD to cut it 16 but even then I'm still thinking it's gonna take a miracle. 2 2 point conversions needed and I'm just thinking about the one we didn't get in the afccg last year. Then we get the Hightower sack fumble and I sit up straighter. After the 2 point conversion, now I feel we're in it for real.

But then they're in fg range. The flowers sack, the holding penalty - now I'm full on delirious. I can't believe we actually have a chance to tie, but still we're really down 2 scores.

Overtime!! And at this point I'm well past delirious. We win the toss and I can't believe we can close it out. No words

Is Lewis ok? Would suck if he sustained some 10-month knee injury on that ridiculous play.

I'm really kicking myself for not going. Last Monday there was a ticket/flight combo available for like $2400 and I didn't pull the trigger.

Also, I think one thing that kept the team going was that when things were bad it was because of things we could fix. Atlanta played well defensively but weren't exactly 85 bears. So there must have been a belief that we could do it if we just kept plugging at it and stopped ****ing up.
