Re: New England Patriots 09, now with better kharma

defense looked so much better in the 2nd half

as shaky as Brady looks, this team should have had 34 points (the 2 Galloway drops) and rolled up 445 yards of offense. that's encouraging.

less encouraging is seeing big Vince go off - this defense can't survive without their 2 best players.

more encouraging

Whoever was reading page 7E of the Globe Sports section that year. In Norwood I told my co-workers that BC was going to be in the ACC championship and they asked me if hockey season started early. But in middle America there was some shuddering as a BC vs West Virginia national championship game was a very real possibility.

Lot's of familiar faces in this thread.

The Globe reported Wilfork has a sprained left ankle.

Officially, he's listed as questionable for Sunday.

Not good, some twitter rumors out there he'll be shut down for the season possibly.

http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/col...ike&id=4515281

Q: So do you think Welker is going to be banged up all season or will this go away eventually? -- Joe (Hartford, Conn.)

A: Joe, my hunch is that he is dealing with some type of swelling in the knee, and the fact that it's happened so early in the season is troubling. It will not surprise me if there comes a point at which Welker is shut down -- maybe around the bye -- with the thinking to have the knee cleaned out so he has a chance to return to full health. This is all speculation on my part based on my feeling that that when a player is dealing with a knee injury and is a game-time decision in Weeks 2 and 3, it's usually not the type of situation that goes away on its own.

Yeah, offense looked more explosive than the past weeks but not in synch yet. Moss dropped a touchdown somewhere, Brady overthrew Moss somewhere, Galloway is useless and I seem to remember a defender making a good play on another touchdown. Some of these occurred on the same drive.

What a ballgame so far! Two things that I've been delighted to see so far:

--Ravens completely abandoning their running game. I can't understand why.

--No sign of Joey Galloway.

(As I typed this, they hand off to Rice, and gain about 40.)

Re: New England Patriots 09, now with better kharma

Positively bizarre coaching performance by John Harbaugh this game. Rice is getting ten yards per carry, but Coach won't call his number. McGahee has been spectacular all year, he's only had 2-3 touches. Wacky timeout at the end of the half. I don't think I've ever seen a coach flagged for jawing with an official before. Topped off with using three wideouts on a hand-off up the middle on 4th-and-1.

This was a typical Patriot win. Not 2007 typical, that season was an exception. But typical of a Bill Belichick team. Make enough plays to win. Also get better as season progresses.

great game today. the defense bent but didnt really break again, against a v solid offense. sure they caught a break with the drop at the end but Baltimore also scored a defensive TD. that Balt team is as good as they get in the NFL and the Pats looked better today than they did. Brady a lot better, the defense improving, etc, great win

I can't believe I can't find a pic of Don Ameche's and Ralph Bellamy's cameos in Coming to America, because it's exactly what this thread needs:

"Mortimer...we're back!"

Re: New England Patriots 09, now with better kharma

Anybody know Brady's record in Denver?

Denver's home-ice advantage is the biggest in sports. I can't believe nobody appreciates it, especially the oddsmakers. Go up to 5000 feet and run around for a little bit, and you'll quickly see what I mean. Hell, I ran all day and night at sea level in the army; then I moved to Vegas, and that altitude, only 2500', kicked my ass.

I never bet against Denver teams at home in any sport. I predict a lot of people crying "trap game!" after this one.

i can assure you that if some angle as simple as the one you prescribed existed it would have been corrected decades ago.

also i doubt people will be screaming trap game if NE loses. more like DENVER IS FOR REAL

This game scares me. I hate playing Denver. We hardly ever play well against them. Without checking stats I believe this is one of the few teams Brady struggles against.

brandon meriweather is ridiculous. i saw a replay where the other safety (mcgowan?) was out of position on a deep throw to the end zone and meriweather recovered all the way from the opposite has to break up the throw

lol there is some moron on local boston radio (fred smerlas, former NFL player) who had these things to say about BW in 07:

"Anyone who thinks he can replace Harrison is crazy."

"I thought he played bad in camp and during preseason, he is slow and does not hit or make plays."

"He is the type of guy that will fizzle out and be gone in a year or two."

"Meriweather made this team because he was a first round pick, that is the ONLY reason."

fat greek retard
