I was impressed that Brady moved onto the Top Ten all-time TD passes list, until I heard he passed Dave Krieg to do it. I mean, if Dave Krieg did it, how tough could it be?

ESPN is trying to invent a new QB rating system. They just said Brady's performance tonight earned him the 3rd-best rating of the week, behind Rogers and Fitzpatrick.

I guess those guys must have thrown for 600 yards or something.

The new rating discounts yac so obv welkers 99 yd td is not valued as much as it would have been last year.

I hope the defense improves a lot over the coming weeks because otherwise this looks like the same failed recipe as the last few years. The only improvement I saw was their 3rd down play but everything else looked mediocre at best.

Pats look about the same as last year. Incredible offense centered around Tom Brady. Crappy defense that makes mediocre QB's look like Tom Brady. Looks like another playoff season with no title. They really need to get their **** together on defense. I'm hopeful with all of the new personnel that its just a matter of coming together as a unit over the course of the season.

I'm telling you guys, ignore what the defense does between the 20s, and grade them in the red zone. They're not even TRYING to get off the field until the red zone. They'll give you all the first downs you want in the name of preventing the big play (ever notice how they NEVER give up the big play?). Once you're in the red zone, the big play is no longer a concern, they bring everybody up, and you settle for a FG.

Dolphins put up almost 500 yards last night. A team with 500 yards usually has close to 50 points to show for it, MIA only had 24. 3 TDs, 1 FG, and the first TD drive required two unstoppable miracle catches and a 4th down conversion.

The defense isn't bad. It just pales when compared to the HOF offense, that's all. A few years ago, everyone was grumbling about the lousy D, so I looked it up, and they were in the top four in yds allowed and pts allowed! Mingia, what do you guys want???

Don't forget the Dolphins offense isn't exactly elite...

And how come if they're settling for field goals once they get in the red zone they got 3 times as many TD's as FG's...?

I'm not saying the D can't improve but last night wasn't good enough imo.

I'm calling out your sample size.

I actually dont think our defense is as bad as it appears on paper. The dolphins offense executed pretty well at least early on, with at least two really nice catches. They were going to Bush quick and often. In the final three quarters Bush wasn't a factor in the game. I think that wasn't all because of the scoreboard. Also, I feel like Haynesworth had a couple good pass rushes and 1 good tackle, which was nice to see. Mayo and Mccourty played well, I think.

Next week against Philip Rivers will tell us a lot about our defense IMO.

My sample size is the last 3 years featuring plenty of breaking after the bending.

Like I mentioned, the improvement on 3rd down defense was nice but we'll have to see if that becomes a trend or if that was just a 1 game anomaly.

I always wondered what Ernie Adams did during games. Apparently he looks up baseball trivia on the Internet for Belichick.

Dammit Time Warner for not even giving me an option to get the NFL Network. Anyone know how I can watch this thing through any other means?

I've got to see it, too.

Here's BB telling Derrick Mason "Aw, FU, Mason, just FU...STFU...look at the scoreboard!"

Drew Bledsoe in Pats HOF today. Thanked many teammates, including Brady. "He was a terrible backup QB. He didn't get the whole 'backup' part."

if NE is as good as they were a year ago relative to the league then they probably get a one or two seed. you're not happy with that?

like, to me if the patriots finish the season as super bowl favorites im pretty pumped. if they dont win it, im sad, but i dont think the team has some massive flaw...variance is a bitch.

Anyone who says they know the rules to this game, is lying to themselves.

How this counts as a TD, but the kid in DET got screwed last year (year before?), completely eludes me.

He took it to the ground with possession and then the defender knocked it loose. TD for sure.

--And that's different from the Detroit play HOW?

--Love the shot of a skeptical Brady observing the injured/flopping/out of breath defender enjoying his "injury" timeout.

--There ought to be law against all these commercials. As I type this, Jim Nantz says, "If you go by real time, it's been over 22 minutes since Phillip Rivers has been on the field!" Well gee, how many commercial breaks did we endure in that time???

--"Hitting the QB with the hairline of the helmet" is today's rule I didn't know. It's been over a decade since I've watched a game that introduce me to an unfamiliar rule.

That was too much bending regardless of not breaking.

Let's bend a little less going foward. A margin of error is useful.

I didn't think Norv had the balls to try on 4th-and-anything-anywhere...

...but I *KNEW* he didn't have the balls to call a pass play! And so did BB!

SD has one of the best offenses in the league. Failing to stop these guys is hardly a mark of shame.
