While it's hard to overstate the value of the QB position, I'm squarely in the TB=BB part of the discussion. No matter how well the other 53 on the roster contribute, you need the top level QB to succeed consistently. OTOH, if the rest of the team isn't consistently good in all 3 phases, it becomes very difficult to keep the elite QB from chasing the money elsewhere (even if that QB's spouse makes more money than any NFL QB).
Sure, BB doesn't go to 9 SBs without TB12, but neither do the Pats without BB, as I doubt Brady stays as long with the team with any other coach/system.
