BILL SIMMONS PODCAST: I still don't like the defense.

PART IOTS DEFENSE: We've allowed 29 points total over the last three games.

ETA: 4th in league in points allowed, behind MIN and two teams who had a bye.

Pats aren't really into releasing updates on injured players. Last anyone heard is likely out until at least week 10.

I'd honestly be pleasantly surprised if he played at all this year.

Can't recall where I heard this, but a couple of weeks ago someone reported a source saying he was recovering really well and was already running.

Tom Curran just talked about Lewis

Quote:
TC: The Dion Lewis sightings are on the rise. What does that matter? It means he’s being reintroduced to the daily grind and possibly (probably) signals another threshold crossed in his comeback. As far as health, as I understand it, one of the health hurdles a player needs to clear after ACL surgery is avoiding stress fractures to the area. With Lewis, we reported in July that the issue plaguing him was not related to the ligaments so I’m deducing it may have been a stress fracture which would have to be stabilized and then rehabbed. In short, I have no hard news on "where he is," but I do suspect his powerful quads and lower body put a lot of stress on that recovering area as he rehabs, and caution is key in bringing him back because of his playing style.
he's been seen frequently in the locker room, I would guess they bring him back slow but he's back by week 7 or 8

Pathetic showing so far on both sides of the ball.

Can somebody smarter than me tell me what they did different on offense in the 2nd half other than deciding to throw to the TE's? And why not use them in the 1st half?

Give the other team credit for that. They're a really good team, "on both sides of the ball".

Lombardi crushes Dalton for sputtering in the red zone, he's been saying that for years...but after watching this game, ,and the Thursday night Mia-CIN game, I think the play calling did more to keep CIN out of the end zone than anything Dalton did. They got super conservative down close. When they NEEDED 7,they turned Jojo LaFell lose and got 7. Before that, it was 5 fg's vs Miami, and LOL Fade vs us

Ben Roethlisberger is having surgery Monday to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.

He'll miss next Sunday's game against the Patriots in Pittsburgh.

speculation on the radio was that Bennett was banged up and that led to his being missing for lots of 1st half plays. that's just a guess though.

I think some of it is variance, some of it is was just bad penalties putting them in bad spots, some of it I'm sure is adjustments they made

cliffs: I dunno

Pats don't show you everything in the first half. They run their script, see how you react to certain things, and adjust.

Eric Rowe broke up a pass in the end zone, and I lol'd. Another guy I never heard of, making a play in the defensive backfield for BB.

Next day, a Philly fan I know lamented that the Eagles had traded him away. Told me he was a 2nd round pick in 2015, added, "that kid's gonna be star."

So true. They are the best at halftime adjustments.

That's an anachronism. No one waits till halftime any more.

First time, I'm watching the game with the Pats' radio call on.

This is spectacular, should have done this years ago.

(3+ minute delay with SiriusXM audio, tho. DVR Pause Button not included.)

My theory, for football bettors:

Ever hear the one about the team who came out flat, because they were looking ahead to the big game the following week? Look what has happened so far this year, to every team who was looking ahead to a Patriots game, since Brady's return:

Week 4: Cleveland loses by double digits at Washington, but that's not unusual. 0-1
Week 5: Cincy gets shut out at Dallas. 0-2
Week 6: Pittsburgh gets destroyed at Miami, one of the year's biggest upsets. 0-3.
Week 7: Buffalo starts getting hype, then THEY stumble in Miami. 0-4.

Who's next? Seattle is at New Orleans next week. Not easy to win on the road in this league. I'm taking the Saints in this one.
