I love Kevin Faulk. He just comes to work and gets **** done.

Great win today boys. First game of our new season tickets and it couldn't have been a better day for the Pats.

On a very sad side note, a guy in the stands collapsed before the game and I found out from my buddy who works security that he later passed away. He was there with his six year old son. I knew it wasn't a good sign when I saw the paremedics doing CPR while they transported him the 5 feet from the ground to the ambulance. Never want to see a thing like that.

I know. There were a ton of cops around so I'm assuming that they took him but I can't even imagine how horrible that is for the kid. Terrible situation.

according to Robert Kraft, no deal with Logan Mankins was ever "in place". Logan called and offered an apology, and Robert said he should go public with the apology, and Logan said he would after he inked the deal or got traded.

I also found it interesting that Kraft said they have made offers similar to the deal that Mangold got, but the LM camp felt he should get more.

oh and if we assume Kraft was telling the truth and he did turn down a similar deal to Mangolds' then yeah he can just go ahead and sit out

I see both sides. why wouldn't he want to be paid top dollar?

but of course we can't just pay everyone top dollar, league don't work like that

new Moss interview from Boston.com, respect the man

In an telephone interview on ESPN's "SportsCenter" this afternoon, Patriots receiver Randy Moss matter-of-factly repeated many of the points he made during his stunning, meandering and wildly entertaining press conference following New England's 38-24 victory over the Bengals Sunday.

Moss, who spoke in an engaging tone while periodically plugging a personal appearance in Boston for a bank this afternoon, admitted his timing could have been better and said he did speak to coach Bill Belichick about his comments.

"I don't really want to get into me and Bill's conversation, I want to keep that in-house," Moss said in the 10-minute interview conducted by "SportsCenter" anchor Hannah Storm. :But one thing I will let out of the bag is that he told me to watch what I do and watch what I say. And I told him, point-blank, 'yes, sir, I've got you.' Simple as that."

Moss again reiterated what seemed to be the underlying point of his 14-minute statement and Q&A Sunday -- his desire to remain in New England beyond this season.

"Being on the football field between those white lines is something I love to do," Moss said. "So hopefully my teammates and coaches like me being part of the New England Patriots team, because I do."

Here is a transcript of Moss's 10-minute interview today:

On why he chose to speak out about his contract situation after the Patriots victory, which seemed like odd timing and might have seemed selfish:

Moss: "Well, the timing could have been bad, but it was actually my first time speaking to the media this year, and I wanted to get it off my chest instead of waiting until Week 12, Week 13, on down the road to where it really could become a distraction to our team and what we're trying to accomplish. It was just something I wanted to try to do. Maybe it was bad timing, but it's something that, I cleared my mind to feel good about myself."

On leading the locker room celebration after the Patriots' victory and his popularity among his teammates, and whether he understands if his postgame comments detracted from that:

Moss: [laughing as ESPN shows the celebration video] "I do understand that. Hopefully my coaches and teammates didn't take it in a disrespectful manner and understood where I was coming from. But like I said, that was the first and last time you're going to hear from me talking about my contract. Like I said, it's just something that relieved me, that I had to get something like that off my chest, and like I said in my press conference, hopefully I didn't disrespect anyone, because that was not my intention. My intention was, I just wanted to get something off my chest. And me being a 13-year vet, I think I'm entitled to let something like that off my chest when I'm dealing with me and my family's security."

On why he doesn't often show the public his outgoing side:

Moss: "Well, because that's not me. I take my job seriously, I have a lot of pride in what I do, and I think any coach and any owner would want a guy like me on their team. I take everything to heart, I take the wins in stride, and I definitely don't like losing, but I take that in strike also. But I'm the type of guy, I love playing football. And all extracurricular activity that comes with football off the field, I really don't care too much about. But being on the football field between those white lines is something I love to do, so hopefully my teammates and coaches like me being part of the New England Patriots team, because I do."

On talking about his comments with Bill Belichick and what the Patriots coach said to him:

Moss: "Well, I don't really want to get into me and Bill's conversation, I want to keep that in-house. But one thing I will let out of the bag is that he told me to watch what I do and watch what I say. And I told him, point-blank, 'yes, sir, I've got you.' Simple as that."

On who he was talking about when he said Sunday that a lot of people don't want to see him do well:

Moss: "I wasn't really talking about nobody specific. I think a lot of the baggage that I've had coming to me actually came with me [here]. I don't really care about that, but all of the good that has come out of New England, people that don't really like Randy Moss doesn't like the good coming out of New England. They want to hear the negative and all the negativity stirred up in New England. I really wasn't point the finger at anybody in particular. I just think that I came with some baggage, I tried to straighten up and tried to have a clean slate here in New England, and I think I've done a good job of that. And then coming out and speaking on behalf of me and my family's financial future, it's just something that I felt was right. Like I said, it might have been inappropriate after the win against Cincinnati. I just feel like it was something I had to get off my chest."

[Moss begins discussing a personal appearance he has for a bank today.]

On whether he's talked contract with the Patriots yet:

Moss: "Uh, no. We have not. But you best believe if we do discuss it, hopefully by me opening [a bank account online], I'll be able put some of my dollars in [an] account."

On whether his reaction Sunday had to do with Tom Brady signing a new contract Thursday:

Moss: "No, by me seeing Tom's contract come across the screen, we talked briefly about it, but it's well-deserved. I'm a big fan of Tom Brady. By him being the highest-paid player [in the NFL], it's well-deserved. I've got a lot of respect for Tom and what he brings to the team each day, and on Sunday, so, you know it's not a shock to me that he's the highest-paid player at this time in the league. Like I said, it's well-deserved, he's worked hard to be where he is, and like I say, no, it didn't [encourage] me to come out Sunday and say what I did. It was the first time I've talked to the media since mini-camp, OTAs, it's the first time this season. Like I said, it wasn't nothing planned, it was just something I felt like I needed to get off my chest so it wouldn't become a big distraction later in the season."

this is excellent news IMO. Maroney and this years 6th rounder for Denvers 4th rounder this year. Seeing as we are somewhat deep at RB and this was Maroneys last year of his contract and hes really not even very good I love this trade.

I don't know if I "love" it but I think it was a very good move. I don't think Maroney was going to contribute much this year.

I like getting a 4th round pick for Maroney, it's a steal actually. But I hope they don't trade Mankins for a draft pick. We obv have plenty of 2011 picks and really need the Oline help right now. Time for both sides to stop the silliness and get this done.

What does everyone think about Brady's comments yesterday? Personally, I agree with him. I was at the game on Sunday and the crowd noise and the level of enthusiasm was abysmal. And people were bolting out of there at the beginning of the fourth quarter!!! It's a disgrace. I never, ever leave until the clock reads 0:00 and I don't understand why people do. Drives me crazy. And all the people calling into the sports stations talking about fans being told to sit down??? C'mon people, this is football!!!! It's supposed to be exciting and your supposed to yell and scream and get out of your seats.

I'm still going to do my thing at the games and hopefully others will follow suit. Hopefully it was an aberation on Sunday.

I think Brady was way out of line. There are all types of fans. Some die hard, some pink hats as they call them. They all paid the same to get in. If the casual fan wants to leave early to beat the traffic, so what. Also what he said about the Jets fans is bs. If the Jets are up 21 in the 4th they will have fans that will leave early too.

But in general, it's human nature for say Jets fans who haven't won it all since '69 to be more excited than Patriot fans who are probably a little spoiled by now.

Also, weren't the Patriots 8-0 at home last year? Those damn polite fans really had a bad effect. First time for everything, Brady really put his foot in his mouth on this one.

I said this in the NFL thread, but I blame the Kraft's. they should never have built this ****ing stadium in Foxboro with all the Rt 1 traffic problems on gameday. if leaving in the 3rd means beating 1.5 hours of traffic, I'm all for it

I don't see how you can blame Kraft. He wanted to build it on the waterfront in South Boston with direct access to public transit. But the Boston/Massachusetts policiticians squashed that idea fast.

Of course it's up to you or anyone else that paid money to go to the game to leave at the end of the third quarter but I just don't understand it and I have to admit I lose respect for the fans that do it. I don't understand why you would pay all that money to leave and miss a portion of the game. I do see your point, Toro though about Brady. We're paying his salary so we should be able to leave when we want. I guess I see both sides.

I guess I'm just angry about the whole thing! Gillette is a disaster IMO. it's super quiet b/c of design, it's expensive, it's not even that nice, and it's a giant PITA to get to. I can't think of anything that is actually good about it.

They were always the "Boston" Patriots, the NE label was just a marketing move.

I love that we signed Woodhead. Isnt that the little guy that was working his ass off on Hard Knocks? Dumping a mediocre last year of his contract RB Maroney for a 4th rounder and now this signing of Woodhead is just so awesome.

Felger told an interesting story about this on the radio this week. After Billy Sullivan was unsuccessful in getting a site in Boston and settled on Foxboro he was so angry with the politicains he decided that there was no way he was keeping "Boston" in the team name. So he decided on Bay State Patriots.

First story in one of the Boston newspapers had the headline BS Patriots . . . and it was quickly changed to New England.
