They'd have to give WIlfork some guaranteed $$$. There are some dollars to play with, he's due $7.5MM of cash this season and he is not getting $7.5MM of cash on the open market so those dollars could be guaranteed but spread out for cap purposes. Depends a lot on how Vince views the situation and his market value.

Gun to head, I agree with you, he's likely to be cut.

I think i read somewhere that an option with Wilfork if he is on board with it is to just cut him and sign him back to a friendlier contract. I dont know if Wilfork would be open to doing that.

As far as the Dobson stress fracture news. I view that the same as the reports last year that Gronk might have an infection which would mean he needed additional surgeries. When the time came there was no infection and the worry was for nothing. Im hoping its the same with Dobson.

Me too, although wasnt the arm part of the delay in Gronk getting back on the field?

Miami signed Grimes 4 years/$32MM/$16MM guaranteed. Do you give Talib that deal? Id have to say no, although Grimes was thought of as a bit more of a valued FA so hopefully Talib comes cheaper. Really hate the Talib situation.

Yeah I think Gronk did have infection problems with the arm and it did slow his return.

I was shocked that Grimes got that much.

The good CB market benefits us, as does Talib's rep prior to coming to NE. If Talib is offered that deal elsewhere, I don't think the Pats match. Here's hoping the GMs think of Talib as an injury-prone malcontent.

Good move. He doesn't seem to be the type that would respond well to being tagged.

I think Talib would have been thrilled with the tag. 11.8 mil for one year would be insane.

So read that NE is looking to trade Amendola.

Also major LOL that NYJ might be interested. If we got him i'd slit my wrists.

He got all the skill and heart you can ask for but dude is a flat out dud. Hurts to say that because he is someone you root for but his injuries concerns are baffling.

If NE would trade him there this offseason only I think a 225k cap hit (I think after June 1st). But if they would wait a year to let him play this season if it still doesn't work they could move him/cut him and save 2M cap. I read if dealt before June 1 would be better...I believe he wouldn't receive roster bonus. So in that case moving him this season would be fine? Hes got 1.5M in bonuses.

IMO NE should ride out 1 more year. A healthy Amendola can work in NE system. Plus if he pans out would increase his market value if they intend to trade him.

As for NYJ....Really we don't need him nor can take the risk. We got Kerley inside who I love but he also shown to play outside when Holmes got hurt. Like what does that say to the fan base when you get a WR that hasn't sniffed a full season worth of games in 4 years basically? C'mon....Thats who you're going to acquire and sell to us as an upgrade for our WR corp?

I root for the kid but i'll pass.....

For NE sake if they let Edleman walk to keep Amendola....Big mistake!

LOL NE got TJ Moe? Just looked down the roster....

That the dude that ran like a 4.3 flat 40 at the combine? I remember some white guy blazin in his 40. Could of been the guy from Texas A&M that retired from concussions. Forgot his name and too lazy to look it up.

Herald said today that Talib was looking for a top of the market CB contract heading into free agency.

After the Grimes signing and with the cap room up a little more than expected around the league, I think Talib is probably more likely than not gone. Pats maybe 40/60 to keep him. I actually think they're marginally more likely to keep Edelman at this point, although I think he's more likely that not gone too.

Your hard on for me is distracting.

Jeez, enough already....

You follow my posts in every thread and have a problem with it. I get it when I was semi trolling NE fans with NYJ smack but now its just insane what you're doing...Borderline stalkish.

Just ignore me already!

Read that Edleman is a top 10 FA that will be overpaid.

Sure he will be overpaid for filling in Welkers role from Amendola injuryand scooping up all those easy targets from Brady. EASY $$! . So lets see exactly how much they overpay?....

You think they use the Amendola contract as a framework to get a deal done? I think Edleman should be paid more than Amendola. He is more valuable/better IMO. Plus great in the return game.

If Talib is gone then that sucks. This defense was soo much better with Talib in it. I don't who we know to find to replace him. I'm sure gamboool disagrees, but this defense sucks without Talib. It got owned against a team that got massively owned in the Super Bowl. We have no real championship hopes unless we shore up guys like this to compete against the likes of Seattle.

Gambool, if we lose Edelman and Talib, who are these great players you see us signing?

If Talib gone that will suck. WOuld like him on a 1-2 year deal max if we need to replace Cro.

Vontae Davis played well he would be nice.

Antonio Cromartie if he walks NYJ. (I cant see him staying at 14M cap, so maybe if we don't restructure/pay cut and he flat out walks which is possible maybe NE is possible.)

I just talked with Prawney early on diff site and he imagines the possibility of NE acquiring Darrelle MEvis. That would be the biggest holy **** typical Jets luck type transaction. If Revis ain't on Bucs 3rd day on new league year we only get 4th rounder instead of the 3rd if he would be on the roster. And to boot the reason we wouldn't get the 3rd is due to the Evil Empire NE gets him....Nightmare!

Heck anything is possible and with the new regime in TB's front office and Lovie Smith as HC not really "fitting" Revis (Even though he's a stud, so he'd be fine, just you don't need a 16M corner in Cover 2.) But Lovie is on record saying he plans on using Revis alot in this scheme.

Yea it makes sense with the cap flexibility they can convert salary to bonuses but they would have a 18M cap hit in 15' if they do get him and change pay to bonuses. Eventually those cap restructures comeback to bite ya. #Steelers 14' LOL.

Thats insane for a DB.

Well if Revis does go to NE would be biggest LOL. On same level as Favre going to MIN.

Revis was "OUR" guy and could of went down as one of the best Jets in history and to think him going to NE makes me sick.

Redskins supposedly making a big push, so he might be gone.

I've said Talib is the toughest decision because he makes a material difference when healthy and there isn't an obvious replacement, but he doesn't really stay healthy and might get big dollars.

Edelman I'm not as worried about, I like him but plenty of options to replace most of his production if the market gets silly.

Lol at the team tied for third in SB odds having no real shot though.

Not going to read what TradeOC spammed the thread with. Sad he's not talking about his own franchise, just going to assume its racist, stupid, or about blobs hitting the towers on 9/11.

Ugh, So far the two big Free Agent CB deals were 4 years $32m and 4 years $39m. I dont want to lose Talib but i dont know how i feel about giving him a 4 year deal in the $40m range.

I love him as a player but you cant ignore the crucial games he has missed and I am worried about that hib issue that seems to flare up alot. Also do those off-field issues come back once you give him that kind of contract security.

I wanted Talib back from the start, these contracts getting handed out are making me think twice.
