What do we think of the Colts?

The Colts were 15th in total offense (yards) and 14th in points scored. The Pats were 7th in total offense and 3rd in points scored.

The Colts were 20th in total defense but 9th in points allowed. The Pats were 26th in total defense but 10th in points allowed.

The only time we've played against the Luck-led Colts was Week 11 of the 2012 season. That was a 59-24 win against a 6-3 Colts team.

Wow I was way off!

Spoiler:

Spoiler:
Have we beaten ANYBODY by 9+ this year?

If you want a serious answer, we beat Tampa Bay by 20, Miami by 10, Pittsburgh by 24, Baltimore by 34, and Buffalo by 14.

Other wins were by 2, 3, 7, 3, 3(OT), 3, and 1.

Losses were by 7, 3(OT), 4, and 4.

We've played a lot of close games this year.

I know, I looked it up after I posted that.

Won our last two games handily, so I'm OK with the way we're playing heading in (as far as covering point spreads is concerned).

Also, we've got this going for us, from Simmons: "Dome teams are 3-22 in the playoffs when they're outdoors and it's 35 degrees or colder."

EDIT TO ADD: That was written before this weekend's games.

I think the weekend turned out pretty well. not that there is a big difference between CIN/IND/KC but CIN is slightly tougher than the other 2 teams, and I still think IND the weakest. so I'm glad we get them.

plus, SD could be the toughest matchup against DEN. They already beat them once @ DEN and SD has a decent history against Peyton, plus they legit improved over the course of the season. not that I don't think DEN will lose but thats probably the team with the best chance

so, I think this was the optimal outcome

KC winning was probably optimal given the injuries they racked up yesterday, but this is OK too. Won't bet the Pats unless the line gets to 6 or so, and Luck is pretty scary, but much better draw than the Bengals. TY Hilton won't go for a zillion yards against the Pats, Indy can't really run well enough to take advantage of that Pats weakness, their defense sucks, and they have to play outdoors. Control Mathis on D and Pats should win this one.

SD has a better chance against Denver than KC IMHO, so not a bad outcome at all.

I really hope SD destroys the Broncos. If we lose they at least need to win because the storyline of, "OMG MANNING VS LUCK! THE GOAT VS THE REPLACEMENT! WHAT A BATTLE! SO EPIC!" would be sickening.

For historical purposes, BB would need to win 3 more playoff games to be the all-time leader in playoff victories (currently 3rd with 18 behind Shula (19) and Landry (20)). BB does currently have a better playoff win % than either of those two guys.

Tom Brady, of course, is already the all-time leader in playoff victories with 17, one ahead of Joe Montana (and 8 ahead of Peyton Manning).

Peyton Manning is tied for 1st all-time for most career playoff losses.

Personally, I'll take a potential shootout against Luck against a Cincy D that can make Brady look foolish.

+1

Lost in all the hooplah is the Colts gave up 44 to the Chiefs w/o Charles.

Plus Reid coached a terrible game.

I like this matchup a lot, I think the Pats match up well against IND.

Plus LOVE SD @ DEN. Need a run game to keep Peyton & co off the field. Chargers have a better chance of knocking off Denver than Indy did IMO.

Spikes on IR now. Does that mean Dane Fletcher is now a starting LB??

Yes, and with one more injury Chris White or Berhauenaus or whatever his name is or Nink is moving back there with Andre Carter/Buchanan starting at DE.

Its not good.

EDIT: Probably wont be a huge factor this week, most of the game will be played in sub or we'll see lol T-Rich pounding out dem 3 yard runs, but its bad after that.

Hightower has got alot of **** this year but im quietly confident that he can step up and fill Spikes role vs the run. This is obviously going to lead to alot more Collins which im also excited about.

If spikes was playing i suspect we would have seen alot of Fleener vs Hightower matchups which I dont think would have ended that well. Now we will probly see Collins match up with Fleener which I feel alot better about.

I do agree that Pats are 1 LB injury away from going deep down the depth chart.

We have now lost maybe our 4 best run stoppers on the defense for the year on IR.

Spikes will be missed. Im not sure who can replace his toughness and run D awareness.
