pats seem hopeless to actually win a playoff game if they even get in

The Carolina DBs are awfully mouthy for a 5-8 team. Can't a HOFer have a bad game without a bunch of no names calling him out after the game? Shouldn't you at least win the ****ing game if you want to talk like that?

Too bad it'll be 4 years before these teams play again because they're just begging for the run up the score treatment that the Pats have been known to dish out.

You could have said the same thing in early december about the 05 Steelers, 06 Colts and 07 Giants.

Teams get hot sometimes and the Pats are way too good to just write off.

lol, they were responding to the reporter and just said what everyone else was thinking. moss bummed it out there and everyone saw. It didnt really do anything since fox still seemed content to put LBs or no one at all on welker so if they werent doubling moss I dont know where defenders actually were.

new england is not playoff material tnm, they had a bottom 5 team at home and barely pulled it out after carolina killed itself with 100 yards in penalties

Yeah, obv. Pats right now look like a team rebuilding that is still plausibly contending. I hate teams that can rebuild without actually sucking. Heh.

I'm glad the Carolina dbs made those comments. If Moss has any pride at all, that's pretty good motivation going forward.

Although the Pats didn't look great yesterday there were a number of good spots. The running game was fantastic. Obviously the panthers don't have the best defense in the NFL but I liked the balanced attack with Faulk, Maroney (I also liked Maroney catching it out of the backfield), and Morris.

The Pats D played really well yesterday. Again, it's against the Panthers and a back up QB but they still came to play and played well. I hope that Springs and Sanders being back improves the secondary.

Overall, the Pats made a bunch of mistakes (3 turnovers and a bunch of dropped balls) or this would have been a blowout. I think Brady is banged up but got pretty good protection yesterday so hopefully he can get more healthy this week.

It's funny people thinking Moss is the GOAT at WR. He's still nothing to me in comparison to Rice. The GOAT shouldn't take off plays or take off whole seasons. Guy still might be the most talented WR in NFL history but he's such a joke at times.

Randy is a front runner. When things are going great, there is no one better. But when things get tough, he disappears. Yesterday, at first, I attributed his poor performance to pouting over the discipline but by the end of the game became more than suspicious that he was intentionally tanking.

My prediction: He won't be on the team next year (if not sooner).

you lost all credibility with me with a statement like this.

I'll even give you odds, 3:1 on $100, that this will NOT happen

I would have taken you up on this bet had I logged on before I heard quotes from Belichick's press conference this morning where he really went way out of his way in defense of Randy and attacked those Carolina dbs comments.

My gut tells me that BB is trying to salvage Randy for the rest of the season and he could still be gone next year. But no I won't put my money where my mouth is.

Sorry.

The Division is basically won.

New England 9-5 (Division 4-2)
Miami 7-7 (Division 4-2)
New York 7-7 (Division 2-4)
Buffalo 5-9

Does anybody want to figure out #3 below?

TO BREAK A TIE WITHIN A DIVISION
If, at the end of the regular season, two or more clubs in the same division finish with identical won-lost-tied percentages, the following steps will be taken until a champion is determined.

Two Clubs
1. Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs).
2. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division.
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in common games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.

Correct.

Jets are eliminated from the division race.

Since MIA and NE have identical division records, the common-opponents record would reduce to their records against the AFCS and NFCS. NE is 4-2 with games against JAX and @HOU coming up, MIA is 3-4 with a game against HOU coming up.

If NE loses the last two and MIA wins the next two, the common-opponents records would be equal. Next up would be the in-conference records, which would also be equal (NE was 1-1 against BAL and DEN, MIA would be 1-1 against SD and PIT).

The next tiebreaker would be "strength of victory". I think it might mean the cumulative record of all opponents beaten, but I could be totally wrong about that.

The defense played outstanding today, and Brady was meh. The real lack of a true #3 WR is showing up more and more each week. Yes, Welker is amazing (as is Moss) but not having another reliable down the field target is really kicking our asses. O'Brien needs to find a way to get Watson and/or Faulk more involved in the passing game imo.

i was very proud of the pash rush today although i think it was more a fact of the Bills offensive line just being sucky than us overwhelming them

Moss looked better, Wes had a slowish day for once. Shows again that defenses cant shut them both down at the same time.

Run game looked better than usual, wish we had run it more actually. Also, why dont we give Morris more reps??? I think hes better than Maroneys fumbling ass.

And whats the deal with Fred Taylor? Why didnt we just put him on IR a long time ago? He doesnt even seem close to being ready to go anytime soon.

Was real worried after the first drive when the Bills just ran at will, but they adjusted nicely and the 3rd down scheme was a nice coaching job.

This sounds weird given that its week 15, but its almost like the offense hasnt found its identity yet. The mid decade pass offenses calling card was that they could play matchups really well...could go 5 wide against the Steelers one week, then play power football against the Colts the next. The '07 team was obviously an air show. Last year's team, by December, was precision short passing mixed in with an underrated run game.

This year its just like they try something random and different every series, and if they get a lead completely spaz out and try and protect the lead with uberconsevative runs between random intermittent tricky pass plays. It just seems out of sync, and the only constants are that they'll try at least 3 or 4 bombs a half (and Brady will throw 2 ****ty ones) and will run a draw abut 80% of the time on 2nd and long.

Not that its been ineffective, just feels like something is missing and its more of a struggle than it needs to be.

Plan should be to win next week then shut it down if the Chargers win and the slim, slim shot at a bye is gone. Not sure its better to be the 3 seed than the 4, would much rather play the Colts in the divisional round and give someone a chance to knock off the Chargers than vice versa and the 4 seed gives us a better shot to do that.
