Moving onto next week....have to say it wouldnt be the all time shocker to me if the Jets win this one. I expect another nail biter.

The offensive line and defense are good enough. The WRs are not good.

I disagree. The jets have a solid defense but their offense is a joke. The Atlanta game was the outlier. The line opened at 4 and I bet but in the pats before it moves. I will be there and expect a sizeable patriots win.

4 seems pretty fair considering they're on the road.

If you're going to photoshop in the cop, you need to flip the defender upside-down, I say.

I think this is entirely dependent on the status of Talib and Mayo.

I think we win easy as long as the weather is ok

So sick! Is Gronk coming back next week?

No idea what the story with Gronk is. It looks like the Pats think he can play, Gronk's people think he isnt ready so they brought in Dr Andrews as the tie-break and he didnt clear Gronk to play.

I dont care that reports are coming out that he is a beast at practice, if he isnt cleared by Dr. Andrews then he shouldnt play. I think the Pats can make the playoffs without him, but will need him if they want to make a run in the postseason.

If his arm isnt fully healed and he goes out and plays and re-breaks it, then we are playing this same game next season.

If he breaks his forearm again and isnt ready to go in 11 months he wont be playing professional football anymore.

Gronk could play this week or be IR'd tomorrow and Id be equally unsurprised. No one knows anything about that situation right now.

Reports coming out that Mayo had surgery for a torn pec and will likely miss the remainder of the season.

In all honesty, has there ever been an NFL team with this much run bad for injuries? jfc.

Yeah, probably not the Pats year. They battle though, so never know.

Time for Jamie Collins and Dane Fletcher to step up.

Whats the time-frame for healing with a torn pec? Seen some people put it out there on twitter that they might consider carrying him as a weekly scratch rather than putting him on IR.

If he has a chance to play again this year I would carry him. 1-2 healthy scratches a week so I think they have the depth to carry him.

As far as replacing him, alot of talk in training camp of Hightower having the helmet with the speaker to recieve playcalls. Hopefully he can step up and fill the void. Will need Collins and Flether to step up and maybe possibly if desperate move Ninkovich back to LB.

Yeah I'd keep him if he has any real shot to come back unless really desperate for the roster spot. Enough flotsam at the bottom to work around I think.

No such luck, Mayo to IR.

Any talk floating around on the Talib injury?

I'm sure he'll probably be done for the season. Nothing like having an injury to your #1 or 2 player at every position except for QB and safety.

Doesnt sound like a long-term injury, but he might miss a little time

@NY, then PIT and MIA at home, then the bye. I honestly wouldn't hate if Gronkowski is out until after the bye. Even winning just one of those games puts them at 6-3 which would put them in a fine spot for the 2 seed, with hopefully a fully healthy Gronkowski. I would understand his teammates being frustrated, though.

I'm sorry to lose Mayo, but I think a Fletcher/Collins/Spikes combo can be decent - this isn't like losing Wilfork where it's all UDFAs after him. And honestly, anything that gets an opposing offense to run the ball more often can be helpful.

As far as I've heard, it's the same hip injury he's been dealing with for years. He might miss a couple of weeks but I don't think it'll be a huge problem.

Mayo is a HUGE loss. Bigger than people think. He calls the plays and is a tackling machine. Whoever they put in his place (probably hightower) is going to be a significant downgrade.
