Re: New England Patriots: Knocking on Seven's Door (Now with Happy Endings)

I really don't think the houston loss is as big a deal as it seems. It sucked but Cannon was literally collapsing and even missed game time getting a fluid IV, along with many other sick players. We were away and Houston has a pretty good team. The Ravens and a few other teams are legit good and gonna be hard to beat but I don't think our odds of winning the super bowl are any worse than they were last year and they still got it done. It sucks what's going on with our offense but if Karras and our receivers can get healthy by playoff time and Wynn can stay healthy I think we will have a decent shot.

How many times in the past has it looked like the end might be near and - BOOM - the Pats show up as the Pats.

That said, watching Brady speak with the press lately he looks like he's not having fun any more. Hope I'm wrong, but I'll be fine if and when the end of this insane run comes.

If that happens, it's on to Team Stidham 2020

Re: New England Patriots: Knocking on Seven's Door (Now with Happy Endings)

Watching few analysis vids recently I am little more confident because it seems its actually not Brady who is super brutal but rather that the receivers make stupid decisions. I think the latter is easier to fix somehow than a super terrible Brady. The throws made sense as they explained it. But I can understand that this isn't fun for Brady. I would probably scream the whole time "Fkn idiots".

Remember you had Gordon and Antonio as receivers?

Re: New England Patriots: Knocking on Seven's Door (Now with Happy Endings)

What a huge failure.

In the previous 18 seasons of Brady/Bellichick, all the Patriots' Super Bowl wins have been when they have a first round bye.

Their additional three AFC Championships (and Super Bowl losses) were also with first round byes.

Even three of their four AFC Championship losses were in first round bye years.

Pretty sure that doesn't mean anything when you only missed the first round bye 3 out of 16 and only have been the #3 seed once before.

The reality is that it's not looking great this year BUT it wasn't looking great last year at times even towards the end of the season and we still pulled it out. I don't have high hopes but we def still have a chance.

That team had one of the greatest TE's ever, who is a matchup nightmare, and this one doesn't. Brady is old and banged up, same with Edelman. Rest of the WRs are a joke.

Pats chances of reaching SB seem like an absolute long shot at best.

Titans, then at KC, then likely at Balt and a SB opponent of GB/NO/SF. woof

That O-line and WR/TE core aren't going to magically turnaround with one offseason.

McDaniels a good chance to bounce given some of the openings.

Seems like this is the end of the line...it was a historic run though. All good things have to come to an end eventually

Hence why I don't have high hopes! Although I disagree it's the end of the line. If David Andrews blood clot issue clears up going forward and if Develin's neck is okay than that will be an enormous upgrade next season as long as the rest of the line stays healthy. Especially Wynn. TE can be addressed through the draft/trade, which I'm surprised it wasn't this year. There's a tiny chance Gronk could comeback next year which would be cool but who knows what kind of condition he will be in even if he did. Harry has a lot of potential and Sanu should be capable of more after more time. Defense will still be the same next year. There's still a lot of potential going forward and although it is a pretty slim chance, we still have a small shot for a run at it this year.

Re: New England Patriots: Knocking on Seven's Door (Now with Happy Endings)

Heard an interesting Brady theory this weekend (you know, since half the region thinks he won't be back)....

The idea goes like this: The Raiders have seen enough from Carr and think he's as good as he'll ever be.

They find a team in dire need of a QB and trade him for a draft pick, then sign free agent Brady to be the centerpiece of their transition to Vegas.

Not saying this is what I think, just repeating a rumor.

Raiders play in NE next season. That'd be fun.

Let the Stidham era begin.

At first, I thought #12 wouldn't available with the Raiders because Stabler, but I check and it turns out the Raiders have no retired numbers

Brady is Montana and Stidham is Steve Young. We still have twenty more years of the dynasty.

Does the Cam Newton signing mean the Patriots are not tanking the 2020 season?

Sure, if by upgrade you mean huge downgrade.

LOL. They were never "tanking." They would've re-signed Brady in a heartbeat for the same deal Newton just took.

Obviously, that wasn't going to happen, so the decision was made to move on sooner rather than later.

I think Belichick still thinks Stidham is the future, since the Cam signing looks like a rental.

Wow.

TB12, last 3 seasons played (2017-19):
TDs: 85
INTs: 27
Av.Yds/Att: 7.4
QBR: low-70s

Cam, last 3 seasons played (2016-18):
TDs: 65
INTs: 43
Av.Yds/Att: 6.9
QBR: low-50s
And he's coming off a season-ending injury.
