New England Patriots: Knocking on Seven's Door (Now with Happy Endings) New England Patriots: Knocking on Seven's Door (Now with Happy Endings)

I've not used the phrase "McCourtey's brother" since he broke up that pass. He's been promoted to "Jason McCourtey", and it wasn't even a conscious decision. If they gave him the MVP for that one play, it would've been OK with me.

Dude was on an 0-16 team last year. What a crazy reversal of fortune.

Bad news about Super Bowl 54 (next year):

It's in Miami.

The Patriots, Bill Bellichick, and Tom Brady have all sorts of Super Bowl records. But, they all have something in common. Each needs a 7th title to break a tie.

The Patriots are tied with the Steelers with 6 Super Bowl wins.

Bellichick is tied with George Halas and Curly Lambeau for the most NFL championships as a head coach.

Brady is tied with Michael Jordan for "some type of bragging rights".

So, perhaps some type of "going for 7" theme.

Yep, my pick for MVP, it's just hard to single out 1/11 of a great defense.

mmm,

Peyton+Eli+Elway +1 other = Brady?

Here's another 2019 topic: Our schedule and possible Opening Day opponents

Home
Buffalo
Miami
NY Jets
Cleveland
Pittsburgh
Kansas City
Dallas
NY Giants

Away
Buffalo
Miami
NY Jets
Baltimore
Cincinnati
Houston
Philadelphia
Washington

(1) Kansas City, (2) Dallas, and (3) Pittsburgh seem like the Patriots most likely Thursday night home game opener in Week 1.

However, I've read the NFL is considering making a Green Bay - Chicago game as the Week 1 Thursday night game as part of the celebration for the NFL's 100th season.

I love the idea of GB-CHI...but if that doesn't happen:

Call me crazy, but is CLE a fun opener to hype? Give folks something different from the usual NE-PIT or NE-KC fare?

Or is Brady-Mahomes too big for such thoughts....?

It'd be nice to have something different for a change, but they usually go for the Superbowl or Conference rematch if possible.

I keep checking back to see if the thread title got changed...

...but the "Cowboys 2016" just got bumped to the top of the page, so I'm guessing we're way back in the queue. Shrug.
