Really like our receiving options and our depth at RB (and obviously T-Mart looked great). But we're definitely going to be shredded on D a couple times this year.
The offense looks to be really good this year. I don't expect T-Mart to complete 75% of his passes every game, but if he can be around 65% and keep the turnovers down, we're going to score a lot of points...
...which we'll need unless the defense can improve. It looked like our base defense is the nickel. I only saw 2 linebackers out there most of the time. The d-line looked terrible and the defense seemed like they were reacting more to what the offense was doing than attacking. Still having problems with running QB's.
Next week will be tough, but then a couple of cupcakes to work out the kinks before B1G play starts.
I still hate nickel d now that we're in the big 10. We need help with our front 4, so add another line backer. Get in these QB's faces, and get our offense back on the field.
I think we were only playing nickel because of S Miss's spread-style stuff they ran. Same with UCLA next week. Fully expect to see more of a traditional 3LB set against say Wisconsin
I would agree with you if i would have seen us do that last year. However it seemed like every game i watched we had one linebacker and they ran down our defensive throats

He's got a pretty good track record of improving defenses wherever he's gone, but he has too many responsibilities as head coach to focus on the defense. Unfortunately, I don't think you can demote him to DC and bring in a new head coach.
Agreed 100%. No concerns about Taylor right now. Almost as many concerns about our D now as the Callahan/Cosgrove era. Been a huge Bo supporter since day one but doubt is now creeping into my head.
Chase Rome apparently left the team today. Things are not looking good fellas...Arkansas State could be 2012's Ball State game. (I hope to God it isn't)
I'd be feeling really good about our chances of winning the conference if we were in the Sun Belt conference. ASU might be a worse tackling team than we are. I don't think the line played that well, but the running backs broke a lot of tackles. T-Mart looked good, but he really didn't have that much pressure.
I really can't tell if we improved from last week or we just had ASU over-matched.

Heard about TO's retirement and listened to part of the press conference. He'll definitely be missed as part of the football program, but I'm not really sure about the job he's done over all.
It will be interesting to see who they bring in. The World Herald has some ideas.
I hate waiting all day for night games. Especially since this should be a pretty good match-up. Beating 3 cupcakes and losing to UCLA really didn't let me know what type of team we have. If I were going to bet, I'd take Wisc and the points because I don't see us beating them by 2 tds.
