Martinez, Abdullah, Bell, Enunwa, Evans, etc. were all great as usual. Very, very happy with both Kellogg and Armstrong's performances (and Pelini's decision to put them in so early). Cross and Newby looked good again. And I just love watching Jean-Baptiste and Gregory on D. It's pretty clear both are going to get their fair shot in the NFL someday. Final shout outs go to Mitchell, the kickers/punters, and the coaching staff for fixing many of the mistakes the youngsters made last week (at least temporarily -- there's still work to do). Part of it was due to the quality of opponent, I understand, but I think today showed that by the end of the year we have the potential to be a Top 15 team.

Solid low stress day for Nebraska. There is no game I'm looking forward to more next week than Neb-UCLA. Beat the Bruins and it's cruise control til 11/2!

Ha! Huskers are #15 in one poll, #23 in the other.

Nebraska is a 4 point favorite over UCLA this week.

I'm feeling saucy right now. Whatever you bet on Nebraska I'll match it (as long as it's under $600) just so we can go down in flames together. Let me know quick what you're gonna do. I can still get Neb -4 at the Mirage.

NVM, I decided to go all in even without your solidarity! $550 on Neb -4.

IMO, if Nebraska doesn't win this game the over (9.5) is probably ****ed, so I basically have over a $1,000 riding on this game. Come on sports gods let me have this one.

LET'S GO BIG RED!!!

I don't have a problem with Pelini's rant on the recording whatsoever. Every coach (and many players) says/thinks the same thing behind closed doors. The fans that left Memorial Stadium early against OSU two years ago before our huge comeback were being fairweather fans -- just like he said. The bigger issue is the sleazeball who decided the (1) record Pelini secretly and (2) wait two years to release it. Whoever it is clearly has an agenda. There should be no punishment from Pearlman/Eischorst in my opinion.

I wonder if Pelini can recall who else was in the room with him that night and if he thinks he knows who is behind all this?

Regarding the on-field collapse (or status quo, depending on how you look at it), I'm not calling for any jobs this season. UCLA is the best team we will play this year most likely. We'll finish the regular season about 9-3, we won't go to the Big Ten Championship (due to tiebreaker), and our defense will finish somewhere around 60th in the nation. The following year is when I need to see some real progress being made at every position except QB (Armstrong will be a first year starter at that point). Next year's schedule is very manageable. Miami is a home game and obviously doesn't count toward division standings. Michigan is off the schedule. Penn State is off the schedule. And Wisconsin is added but their future is somewhat up in the air right now.

I'm setting a goal of 11-3 for next year, including Big Ten Championship game appearance and bowl game. If Pelini goes 11-3, he definitely keeps his job. If he goes 10-4, but the blowouts and 500-600 yard games are a thing of the past, he definitely keeps his job. If he goes 9-4, and our defensive struggles persist, Papuchis is definitely gone and possibly Beck (but I like the Beck-Armstrong combo). If he only gets to 8 wins, Pelini must go unfortunately.

As you can see, I'm far more patient than most Husker fans. I hope that means I'm just thinking more rationally and that I'm not hopeless.

I don't think he has to go, but he does need to make some changes. Beck is fine but Papuchis needs to go.

And Cotton, he sucks.

I don't know why Papuchis has to go

Everyone knows he's just a figurehead; Bo runs the defense. Something has to happen though. We keep saying "well, next year" with our eyes especially turned to 2013. Everything seemed to be in place to be competitive - the veteran and explosive offense, a defense with athleticism, and an easy schedule.

Well so far we've shown that we can give up 600 yards to Wyoming and that we can get embarrassed in yet another big game. Same old tune. The offense appears to have even taken a massive step BACKWARDS.

I would definitely still support Bo if his W-L record was the same but we had shown up and competed in the big games. Instead we give up 5-600 yards, 50+ points, and get embarrassed time and time and time again. UCLA would have been shocking except that we'd seen it a dozen times before. I still remember how bad the very first Wisconsin game at Camp Randall felt, after playing well for most of the first quarter and then just losing all control of the game. THAT was shocking. But after it happens for the hundredth time it's no longer an isolated shocking game, it's a trend and a problem that isn't going away.

Bo needs to either make big changes - new coordinators or whatever, or show he can win some big games (@ Michigan could save his job) or else I want him gone. I've been a big Bo supporter for a long time but I guess UCLA was finally the straw that broke the camel's back

What is Papuchis' job with this team? He needs to go to make room for a DC, or at least take a demotion.

I think part of Beck's problem right now is Martinez is playing too timidly. He looks scared of contact. Every time he runs he has a tendency to slow up when he sees contact coming.

My buddy and I felt the same way. We think Martinez is so wildly inconsistent and unpredictable week to week that it's making playcalling difficult. Can you throw down field if Martinez is not hitting the mark? Can you call designed runs for Martinez if he's going to run like a pansy and fumble the ball? You certainly can't run the option with Martinez unless your goal is to hand the opponent 7 points. That really just leaves handing the ball off and throwing to the WRs in the flats. If he happens to take off for 60 yards off on a broken play great but that seems to be happening less often as well.

Am I just rationalizing?
