I get that he wants to play and feels he has the talent to be a starter, but it kind of shows a lack of character to just quit (if that's what he's doing) after losing a tight qb competition.
Unless it wasn't as close as Frost was making it sound. If he realized he has no shot at starting, then transferring is completely understandable.
I think Frost is correct in saying that yesterday was rock bottom, though he obviously wasn't aware of the exact moment ... which was when Corn Nation was trolled by the Wendy's twitter account.
Too bad Martinez was clearly not 100%, he's going to be a good one. If he survives this offensive line anyway.
I'm hopeful. Because like you eluded to, if you told me we would go on the road to the Horseshoe and
1. Punt 7 times at only a 38 yd avg
2. Have a punt blocked for a safety
3. Completely whiff kicking the ball on a surprise onside
4. Really dumb turnover at the OSU 10 yd line
5. Have 3 crucial 3rd down drops including 1 for a likely TD
6. Burn a timeout playing chicken on 4th & inches
7. Kick a FG on 4th down & goal on the 1
8. Fail to onside with 2 minutes left down 5
9. Have avg starting field position of our own 25
I'd have thought we'd lose by 5 TDs.
There's a lot to clean up but they've already come a long way so I'm pretty hopeful that a lot of things, especially the special teams, will continue to get fixed. Future is bright.
Their road games are all very winnable. No auto-losses OOC either. They could luck-sack their way into the B1G title game with 1 loss, win that, and they are in the playoffs. Should be longer odds than 25:1, but it's not impossible.
