Fwiw they had a 3 on 1 on the left side of the field for about 5 seconds after they lined up on this play. They took a long time and the Bears figured out their coverage was ****ed, shifted and then we ran the screen.

Sanford >>> Tyrell.

Chillyball moments of the week
Chester Taylor draw on the first series
Chester Taylor run on on the game tying TD drive.
Kleinsasser split outwide on the game tying play.
You forgot Dugan lining up at WR at least 3 times, probably more.

Nothing happened to our rush. At least, not really. KWill might have slowed down some since the beginning of the year since QBs are stepping up in the pocket without worrying vs. us more often. Teams are consistently chipping both our ends.

The biggest difference though is that teams realized we can't cover **** and are just doing a ton of 3 step drops vs. us and completely taking our pass rush out of the game.

And yeah, when I was saying Charles Gordon was the team's best man corner last season, I wasn't joking.

1300+ yards and 17 TDs isn't "pro bowl caliber"?

Only guy in the NFC with more rushing yards had 4 total TDs

Kleinsasser had one catch where they forget to cover him and it was still almost an incompletion.

SL,
Chuck still might be our best man to man corner.

Winfield is not as fast as he was before his foot injury. We cant leave him 1 on 1 vs fast receivers right now. I'm pretty sure the cold weather did not help things for him last night.

Maybe its time to move him to safety for the remainder of the season. I doubt they'd even consider doing that, but I think itd be something to try because our safeties are both worthless and Winfield cant run full speed right now, but he tackles as well as/better than anyone.

M. Williams looked like he was doing his best to avoid contact last night. T. Johnson was his usual worthless self as well.

Sigh. I wonder how he's doing? He was healthy enough for the Vikings to sign him to a one year deal in February but then was waived a few days into OTAs I believe? At the time I just assumed he just still wasn't back to full strength and would eventually catch on somewhere but I haven't heard his name since. He's still only 25.

Should have given Harvin the KR duties.. DJax is amazing but he also got a starting WR spot so they could have gone Harvin at KR

Trent Dilfer...thinks it's time for Vikings coach Brad Childress to acknowledge that quarterback Brett Favre has a better understanding of how to run an offense than Childress does.

"Let the guy who is the best in the world at what he does do what he does,"...

Dilfer said his view that Favre has a better understanding of how to make the offense work than Childress does is based on "conversations with people within" the Vikings' team facility....

"Give him the keys and say, 'Hey, there's a reason we sent the private jet, a reason why I picked you up, and you've won three MVPs,'" Dilfer said, adding that, "there is a mastery of the offensive game that some have and some don't, and [Childress] doesn't have it."

Wtf does Dilfer know about offense? Has he ever seen himself play?

Also, for anyone who doesn't read FO, some hope:

What recent results have showed, though, is that the idea of momentum -- of teams "peaking at the right time" -- is a crock. The last three years provide enough fodder to kill the idea. The 2006 Colts went 2-3 in December, losing by 27 to the Jaguars and by three to a 6-10 Texans team before narrowly beating a 6-10 Dolphins team to finish the year. They went and won four straight games en route to the Super Bowl.
Giants/Cards examples of "cold" teams winning, Redskins and Chargers recent examples of "hot" teams getting waxed (I might add last year's Vikings except they were playing the "hot" Eagles).

Quote:
The point of all this is that what happened in December doesn't mean squat once the playoffs roll around. Each year, fans and media alike try and parse meaning out of small samples and natural variance. How many people get excited for the first preseason game of the year? By the time Week 1 of the regular season rolls around, only a month later, the preseason's been totally forgotten about. While the Colts lost their chance at an undefeated season, their decision to rest their stars won't have any effect on when they're "peaking" or their momentum heading into the playoffs.

Bottom line: Teams win in the playoffs because they play well and breaks go their way, the same way they do in the regular season. And if teams really can peak, the right time to peak isn't the end of December. It's the end of January.

But doesn't he have some good points there?

Not really. I mean he might be right that Favre can at times see things Childress doesn't, but:

Childress realistically can't "admit" that a player knows more about offense than him and still keep his job.

Doesn't Bevell do the majority of the play calling?

agree that this "get hot in december" stuff is bull**** but at the same time it's not a good thing vikes look like **** in these games. we can only hope their o-line is just not trying right now thinking they had already locked up the 2 seed or something. 48% chance at it heading into this weekend

tell that to the Cards, Giants, Steelers.

Think it's overblown by ESPN (what isn't) but still a big deal. Big thing for you guys is win Sunday and get 2 games in a dome if you're fortunate enough to win the first game.

the Cards lost games by 40 and 21 in December last year, finished the regular season on a 2-5 run with the wins vs 4-12 Seattle, and 2-14 St Louis, they certainly weren't playing well down the stretch

Handy little NFC playoff chart: http://espn.go.com/blog/nfcnorth/pos...io-for-week-17

GB/AZ matchup next week again in 6/8 scenarios. MN/GB in 1/8. Our most likely opp is Dallas.
