Oline hands down much better at every single position.

And yes, Adrian Peterson admittedly is a God. But it's not like Thomas Jones and Leon Washington did not provide good years at their position.

it's like you vikings fan say "hey we have one good player that makes our offense great"
Really can't believe I'm defending the Vikings here but I will defend NFC North teams v. outsiders + Jet fans are idiots so here goes:

2008 season, stats from ESPN:
Offense:
Total YPG average:NYJ 331.7; MIN 330.5
Rush YPG: NYJ: 125.3; MIN 145.8 (5th)
Pass YPG: NYJ: 206.4 (16th); MIN 184.8
Total PPG: NYJ: 25.3 (9th); MIN 23.7

Defense:
Yards Allowed/Average: NYJ 329.4; MIN 292.4 (5th)

Vikings also had 5th hardest SOS, compared to the Jets who were 25th.

I'm pretty sure you are alone in thinking the Jets have more offensive weapons, and I will concede their O-Line, but that also allowed TJ and Washington to have better years on the Jets than they would on other teams. Although the Jets have much more "talent", they played a significantly easier schedule and their offensive numbers are almost identical to the Vikings.

George makes Farve's comeback look low key compared to his antics. I want to Ownes and George play together. That would be fun to watch but not on any team I am rooting for.
LOL i hope this is a level. favre has a much bigger arm, especially at this point in both their careers. i cant even remember the last time i saw JG

do you think everybody that laughed at you realizes that favre helps the passing game? yes the vikes have the best pure runner in the game, but i would take the jets o line and entire recieving core over the vikes.

even with that o-line from the jets and those wideouts(leon was a hell of a screen guy too) Favre still threw 20 picks last year.

he's older and just doesnt have enough gas in the tank to finish a whole year.

more talent, vikings or jets? why is this even an arguement? they both suck

coles would be the 3rd reciever on the packers. favre had no help in new york. they are terrible. mark sanchez will find out soon enough.

Hey guys, didn't you see ShipOnTilt's post where the Jets had the most pro bowlers in the league? It would be hard for the Vikings to have better talent on their team when no one had as much as the Jets did last year in the entire league!

I'm probably going to get clowned for this, but is Favre even much of an upgrade at this point? Maybe I'm crazy but I feel like TJax has some decent potential and at the very least doesn't make as many mistakes as Favre. In addition, Rosenfels is at the very least a competent QB.

Meh, IDK, I'm probably letting my dislike of Favre influence me. I just don't see a 39 year old who is going to be a huge distraction, is turnover prone, and has a bad arm as much of an upgrade. He's never exactly been the game manager type.

Vikes D is getting a bit underrated cuz their special teams gave up 8 kick / punt return tds last yr [most of all time iirc].

Peterson, Taylor, Berrian, Harvin, Rice [YA RLY], I think they got the talent to have an abv average offense and a top 3 D.

fwiw Rice is gonna be a stud if he stays healthy. Only 21yrs old entering his 3rd yr, been injured like crazy but he's my breakout player for the Vikes this yr.

Also I'm really meh about Favre. I think the difference between Favre and Sage is marginal so wtf is the point of the drama?

The more I think about this, the better I like the idea of bringing him here. The way I see it, there is no downside.

If there is chaos caused by this (cancer in locker room type stuff), the blame will wall squarely on Chilly.

If Favre sucks, the blame will wall squarely on Chilly.

If Favre gets hurt, I do not see this as stunting the growth of any of the other QBs on the roster. If this messes any of them up mentally, **** it, they suck anyway, and the blame will wall squarely on Chilly.

If Favre is healthy and plays well, the Vikes have a legitimate chance to win it all.

The worst thing that could happen in my mind is this: the Vikes play well enough to get into the playoffs & lose in the 1st or 2nd round and Zygi thinks thats good enough for Chilly to stick around for one more year.

Edit: One more good reason for bringing him in - Jim Souhan doesn't think its a good idea. This virtually guarantees that its the right thing to do, lol.

The downside is that Sage might actually be decent. Favre might suck, and Favre sucking will be Chillys excuse to keep his job, not Chillys sucking [which is constant in this equation].

People with knowledge of the situation say that Sage was Spielman's guy. Chilly wants Favre bad, and there are other people in the organization (Spielman) who are not very interested in Favre. This whole thing is Chilly's baby. If Favre fails, the blame falls squarely on Childress.

All good imo.

meh, anything that gets Chilldress fired is good by me but I kinda think he'll be extended so I'll be needing to pick a new team anyways.

so sick on sportcenter tonight. i've not been watching continuously but have been flipping channels. I watched near the top of the hour, somewhere about half past, and just now at about ten til. Some segment about Brett Favre every time. I know we've been thru this ad nausem, but ESPN can be such a joke sometimes.

qft,

i have never seen such a talented team so shackled by the inadequacies of their head coach in any sport

Favre's best seasons are when he throws the least. If you go to profootball-reference and sort by # of attempts you see that the 7 years he threw the fewest passes are all pro bowl years while none of his 5 highest years of attempts are.
