GJGE Kirk, it's a real accomplishment to get to 100 yards passing in todays NFL

Vikes should do with OL what the pack did with CB this year. And use their first 3 picks on O Line. Remmers and Compton can not be starters next year.

This^. Those two should not be on NFL rosters.

No one on that line should consider their job safe for next season, except for possibly O'Neil. We've had a pretty bad o-line since Spielman has been here, but I dont ever remember it being worse than it is right now. In hindsight, passing on drafting Hernandez was an especially bad decision.

wtf happened to our run defense this season? It used to be hard to get more than 2 yards up the middle on us and now it seems every team is plowing forward for 5-6 yards per carry.

In foresight and in hindsight passing on Lamar was especially bad. Even with Cousins you get a backup you can actually win with. As is if Cousins goes down at any point next 2 years we're ****ed. Also have no succession plan. Lamar is on a 4 year 8M contract or something + team option. We're paying Cousins 10x as much and have 2 less years of control.

Bears are pretty sweet team and clearly superior for 1 reason - offensive coaching. Both teams are loaded with talent on D. Bears were rolling out absolute garbage for WRs with Arob and Miller out. Trubisky is not great. But Nagy doesn't need talent to win. He can win with scheme. Something that we had going for us a bit last year but didn't have this year. Bears gonna be good but I think they are a bit capped out until Trubisky gets better. Had they taken Mahomes or Watson theyd probably be the best team ITL. Packers will get massively better next year if they hit on their HC hire + they have a higher pick than us, more cap, and an additional 1st.

Rudy and Remmers are the obvious cuts to give us some cap room. Can get Barr or Richardson back but probably not both. Tag and trading Barr for whatever they can get (not much given he needs an expensive contract) and signing Richardson is probably best case scenario. Letting Barr walk and getting a eventually getting a compensation pick is a likely outcome.
I'd like to keep Barr just don't know if they can. Thielen needs more money at some pt as well - and probably our most tradable asset - would be a surprise but could happen. Need to draft multiple OL early and hope to hit. Hiring a legitimately good OC is the most realistic chance at taking a big step next year. I really like Zimmer but his regime is being defined a bit by multiple QBs, multiple OCs, same result: a lot of 1st halfs where we only score 0-6 pts.

This team was the best assembled young talent ITL and Zimmer was coaching up the young D talent. Teddy injury was just a massive setback. Bradford cost cap and the picks, just to get hurt. Lead to overpaying for Cousins. Zimmer/Spielman had a winning situation Teddy injury>Bradford trade/injury>Cousins really just lopped off a big chunk of our window.

Adams has become a nice player for GB. I think Bakhtiari is by far their best non-Rodgers player. Kenny Clark and Jaire Alexander are both good and young - probably their next most valuable assets. Then Adams and Daniels and not much else (tho I'm high on JJackson). Will be interesting to see how much better Rodgers looks with a new scheme. It's been years since he's been at his peak and hopefully for us he won't ever get back. New HC might give him a chance to tho.

We signed a veteran G. https://www.twincities.com/2019/03/2...lion-contract/

PFF says he was not good last season, but he was good before that.

This was the most positive thing I have read about him, posted by a NE fan in the Daily Norseman comments section:
Quote:
I watched him in New England and he fit very well at LG.

And was solid at RG for TN the last couple years. He went from a solid line system to Vrabel, who is a Pat’s legend.. but is all Defense and no offensive mind.

You guys just got an O coordinator that specialized in the ZONE blocking scheme in Kubiak. Kline was at his best is the zone blocking system in New England.

For 3 and 15 mill, the Vikes got a solid LG and a possible top tier RG in the Kubiak system. This is a steal in today’s NFL.

Good signing. That said, Speilman better get smart and draft 2 OL and one DT in the first 3 rounds. Build in the trenches. Stop the run and protect your huge investment at QB.

yeah, that is not encouraging. We'll see what happens. I still hope we draft two O linemen - one in the 1st round and one in the 2nd or 3rd, and either one or both of them are hopefully guards.

Vikes need to get rid of Zimmer, they will never win a Superb Owl with him at the helm. He seems incapable of both in game adjustments and clock management -- two crucial parts of success. He needs to be a D Coordinator and only a D Coordinator.

Huh? They got down 21-0, adjusted, and made a nice comeback. Stopped short because of lol refs and Cousins.

cousins is such an average to below average qb. No player, other than maybe Bradford, has made more money for doing less in the league.

Zimmers clock management, not taking time outs before the 2 min warning, was so bad. It ended up not mattering, but still.

True but that still makes him one of the best Vikings QBs of my lifetime.

You along with many other Vikings fans love Bridgwater. As great a guy as he might be, I never understood the love for him as a player
