It sounds like he's been dealing with these issues for many years. Ovbviously he hasn't had many, if any episodes like this last one, but he has been living with mental health issues for quite some time.

Thoughts on if he plays again this year? I seriously question he does.

the OL is a huge issue that could definitely sink the season.

why the defense has regressed so much from last year despite staying healthy losing ~no one in the off season and adding sheldon richardson I have no idea...

and lol at that loss being easy to make up. It will very very likely matter for seeding down the stretch. lots of "good" teams ****ting the bed so far this year, rams looking like a lock for the 1 seed unless we can win this week which I doubt given the mismatch of their DL vs our OL.
I agree with basically all this^.

We knew the O-line could sink the season. We just didnt know we'd get blown out at home by BUF. At least Elflien is going to start tomorrow. We're going to need the line to be at their best.

idk about Griffen's issue being related to football. I've seen nothing credible that makes that connection. Sometimes medications help mental issues. I hope they find a fix for him fast.

H Talib was just placed on IR, so he's out for 8 weeks. M Peters is day to day. I dont know how big of a drop off their backups are, but that should help our chances tomorrow.

Barr already burned twice for TDs.

WTF happened to this D, I thought they would be even better this year and instead they have significantly regressed.

this team is ****ing pathetic, diggs and thielen are the only real players apparently. d line has been pathetic, LOL BARR, did harrison smith even play in this game he legit did not make a single play, oline is cutler era bears bad, xavier commits penalties on every play, kirk is really good at throwing the ball but is a dumb **** with awful feel and awareness, dalvin is trash who just runs straight at defenders

Rams are by far the best team itl and we hung with em pretty well on the road. The OL looked infinitely better despite the struggles on the last drive or two. The D will hopefully stop putting Barr on 4.4 WRs and figure the rest out.

We also got ****ed out of 4 points on that Thielen down by contact play and another probably 3 worth on that picked up block in the back flag on the long gurley play.

All this^.

I'm concerned about the D too, but we got ****ed by the refs badly several times in this game and still were in the game until the very end against the best team in the league on the road. Both holding calls on Rhodes were BS in addition to the two terrible calls NLS mentioned. One of those led to the Rams 1st TD if I remember correctly.

Don’t make excuses for the defense by going to the refs. The defense hasn’t played well in 5.5 games. You could make the ref excuse in every nfl game. Plain and simple the defense is playing horribly right now and I’m not sure it gets better without Everson coming back. I think Griffen is the most important player on the D. The last 2 games has shown he’s the emotional leader of the D and maybe the team.

You're mostly right. The defense was terrible. The fact is, we had stopped them on 3rd down when they called holding on us when we didnt hold, and they scored a TD on that drive. I know calls like that happen frequently, but that was a key one. The call when Theilen was not down by contact and not touched was also a key missed call. Picking up the flag on an obvious block in the back cost us 41 yards on that play. Those three calls were all very bad and they cost us minimum an 11 point difference, possibly (probably) 14.

All that being said, I share your concerns about the defense in general and specifically about Griffen. I'm hearing that something like bipolar disorder might be best case scenario, and he could have something much worse that could prevent him from playing again.

We need to cover a lot better. We need to do whatever is necessary not to have LBs repeatedly matched up on fast WRs. We need to rush the passer a lot better. I dont know what the answer is for any of that, but I know last night's game is a game we could have won with one or two or three bad ref calls going the way they obviously should have.

Was at a bar watching the game so maybe they addressed this question and I didnt hear it, but why didnt Zimmer challenge the Theilen being down call?

Was at the game last night; pretty insane atmosphere for an away game. Was probably 25% Vikes fans, and where we were sitting it was over half Vikes fans. Had some Skol chants going and would have been so awesome if we had won. That stadium is legit WOAT. You couldn't pay me to go there again. Makes me miss the Metrodome, lol.

F the refs/NFL. Why not just call it fair and give us a chance? Rams already best team in league probably, and they are getting every big call? Almost no chance to win if they are getting the calls and we aren't. Offense played very well and kept us in this game; defense played very poorly. Big game next week, can call it a must win game.

They blew the whistle. Once that happens, they play is over and you cannot challenge. The TV commentator ref said they blew the Theilen call and they blew the block in the back no-call. These two calls could have easily changed the outcome of the game.

It was noticeable on tv how many Viking fans were there.

Skol! Huge win. Get within 1 in the division, pick up a tough road win, and now the schedule lightens a bit. Now get EG and DC back and we good.

prevent d is a horrible way for a defense to play.

Prevent D on the last drive? Didn't seem that bad. They started with 2:45. As long as you make them burn clock to ~1:45 you necessitate a successful onside. The sendejo penalty made the strategy look worse than it was. Once the clock is under 1:45 though you should be playing normal D.

I agree. I usually hate prevent D, but it was effective enough at burning the clock last night so all we had to do was recover an onside kick for the win.

Dumb penalty by Sendejo.

So leave it to a fluky on side kick where 1 bad bounce and you would lose the game? Doesn’t make sense to me.

Assuming you give up a TD 100% of the time while playing prevent (I think they would have had a hard time scoring a TD without the stupid penalty), that gives the other team about a 10% chance to get the ball back by onside kick (NFL onside kicks are recovered about 10% of the time by the kicking team). Then they would have needed to drive about 30+ yards to get a chance at a long FG with no timeouts.

I like our odds in that situation.
