Ya, but Birk is much more expensive.

Before everyone starts sucking Favre's dick. Lets be realistic he played another mediocre game. He netted 280 yards in almost 50 drop backs some of his biggest gains were screens to Chester. He missed a lot of throws, luckily and awesomely he luckboxed that last play, but if that doesn't happen we talk about him missing Berrian on third and 5 with 2 minutes left, missing a wide open shank dog over the middle and not knowing where the LOS is. That being said the game should have been out of hand and the only reason SF was in the game was because of the blocked FG return for TD.

Chilly sux, the O Line sux, the offensive scheme sux, Berrian sux, Chilly sux

BUT WE ARE 3-0 WOOOHOOOO

I really started to enjoy the short passing today in the first half, all the crossing patterns, the dumpoffs to the RB's. It's all good really. And very effective agst the other teams blitzes as they run thru our O line.

The D played a pretty good game overall. Jared Allen was real good imo.

pudge- yeah he missed a few throws but he also made several outstanding long throws that were dropped. i thought he played fine.

or maybe you could just say that his mediocre>TJ's mediocre

Watching the local Fox Sports postgame show. Lewis was the only receiver in the end zone. lol Chilly. On a play where you have to get in the end zone we got everyone short and medium and one guy out there. The previous play was a short pass to Berrian which was stupid. We had time for two shots into the end zone and we throw a sideline pass for 3 yards. That's unprepared imo. FIRE Chilly.

But.........we're 3-0 lol

Pudge: this was Favre's worst game of the 3 and the only one that can be called mediocre. First two were fine and he made the one play he had to in this game to win it. Unless you are comparing him to Drew Brees' #'s, then yeah, mediocre. Otherwise, 3-0, doing fine, only can get better really.

Willie,
Favre had one deep ball that should have been caught, but Berrian dropped.

aj,
Favre was putting in Brad Johnsonesque performances in the previous two games vs. two of the worst defenses in the nfl.

Seriously? The last play was awesome but Favre sucked **** for about 58 minutes leading up to it. He looked like he was channeling JaMarcus Russel.

Pudge - Favre was not sharp on several of his passes today, but he had at least 5 very catchable passes dropped. As Willie says, & I'll take it a step farther, mediocre Favre >> TJ at his absolute best.

Other observations:

Berrian sucks. He's like a slightly improved version of Jake Reed.

Shiancoe is back to his old lobster hands self.

Harvin is the best receiver on the team right now and its not close imo. What a stud. He needs more playing time and more touches. Yes, I saw he dropped a pass today, but I get the feeling that will be the exception, rather than the rule like with Berrian & Shiancoe. Harvin plays smart, has great football sense, does not look at all like a typical rookie, and zomg the jets on this kid! When he's running, it looks like the other players are in slow motion. He reminds me of Moss in that way.

Great throw by Favre at the end of course, but what a catch by Lewis!!

The O-line was pretty bad again, but at least Favre had some time to throw on some of the plays today, unlike the previous two weeks. Loadholt actually slowed some people down pass blocking today. That play where the D-back sacked Favre was pretty bad on someone's part. I dont know who's fault that was - if Taylor should have seen it sooner, if Favre mis-read it, or if it was the coaches who ignore things like that. Whatever it is, that **** has to be fixed.

I hope Reynaud's injury is minor. That kid is a really good punt returner.

I noticed AP playing at the end of the game during passing plays where Taylor is usually in. Is Taylor hurt?

I noticed this too. Chilly is such a dip****. Whenever they show him on the sideline in tense moments during a game, he looks either confused or mad about something that was probably his fault. Almost all the games since he's been here, when we dominate games as we did in the first half today, the scoreboard is way closer than it should be. I think we're the only team in the league history with a "prevent offense".

Meh, partially made up for by our kick return.

Oh, and the pass protection today was phenomenal. Idk what to say about the lack of a run game but I'm guessing it was mostly SF having a good front 7 and stacking the box all day.

Yeah, but even if we go into halftime with a 16-7 lead, we should have been ahead by more than that when you look at the stats and saw the way the game was going.

Chillyball - Keep the game close when you should be dominating.

How much would the Vikings have won by today if Sage or TJax was at the helm?

Damn Favre and his last second comebacks. Such a drama queen. He just wants to see himself on the highlight reels.

Phenomenal only when compared to what we saw in the first two games imo. I'll agree that it was a lot better though. The line has to do both - run and pass block. They haven't done a good yet job this year. I'm sure you're right about SF stacking the line to stop the run, and their defense isnt bad, but still, we need to be better than we have been.

This is mostly just a lucky blitz call. Only person who could've prevented it was Favre and he was locked into someone over on the left side of the field. Chester has to at least scan the middle first before going outside + he was lined up on the left and the blitz came from the right. If Favre sees it and steps up Taylor can get over and push him further up field, not really anything else you can do.

Someone should have seen that coming. It looked obvious from where I was sitting. You'd think smart players like Favre & Taylor would be aware enough to see that coming.

Oh, and last thing. Poor offensive gameplan by SF imo. We are lucky they decided that they could somehow win by pounding the rock with Glenn Coffee. Maybe they watched last week's tape of our defense and ignored the previous 3 seasons?

I would gladly trade Chilly for Singletary, but good point.

i don't think it even half makes it up. the field goal block was a 10 point swing (or maybe 9.2 or something if you figure longwell will miss 20% of the time.) the kick return was probably worth about 4 or 4.5 points over expectation (just a guess, but it's not 7).

So around half, maybe more? I said "partially" not even "mostly."

Although we deserved to have that kick blocked and they deserved to have that kick returned for a TD. Terrible blocking by us and then terrible coverage by them.

definitely. i think the point pudge was probably going for was that the vikings played the better game, or at least suggested that they were the better team this game. variance went against them more than for them.

i mean you deserve whatever happens. that's the game.

I will say the O line did a great job today when SF rushed 4. Unfortunately it seems they forgot how to runblock today.

And another thing, the Favrehaters keep putting him under a microscope and seem to be comparing him to Manning and Brees and the top QB's in the league. When we compare him to the middle of the pack guys, he's doing just fine. Today, even though he made the game winning play, was his worst game for us so far. He made ~4 horrible throws, had 2-3 "not on the same page of the receiver" throws and the rest of his incompletions were just the way football goes. Remember last year when every passing play to a WR was a 4 yard slant?

I'm perfectly happy with how Favre has done this year. We're 3-0. And, imo his play can only improve from here on out as some of the little things get ironed out.

well- i should say that variance was against them until the final 8 seconds.

Yeah, deserve wasn't the right word. Plus if we are adding up luck the last play more than makes up the difference between our kick return and theirs imo. I thought it was a pretty close game.

/edit what is wrong with slants? And how are dump-offs to Chester so much more impressive?
