Yea I figured it would be. So you're saying if the Giants and Bears both lose, then somehow the Vikes lose, then we are sweating a Dallas loss Sunday night?

getting to play gb at home with a playoff spot on the line is already about the 95th percentile of ways this season could have played out imo.

I remember at the start of the season we were still looking for a starting QB. Oh wait, we still are! Christian "I can't throw a pass over 15 yards" Ponder needs to play out of his ass (No dumb INT's) for us to have a chance, even if Adrian goes for 200+.

That said, I think the Vikes are still going to win because the defense is starting to peak at the right time. "Defense wins champi...meaningful games"

Reading the playoff discussion here is confusing without having this to look at imo: http://espn.go.com/nfl/standings/_/t...nk/order/false

great season.

Can i get a cliffs on why you guys hate Musgrave? I think he's done a pretty damn good job considering we have very little offensive talent (read: Ponder). I think he especially uses Adrian really well.

Most running in the NFL is zone running where the RB runs at 3/4 speed until the hole develops. Then he makes his cut and accelerates to speed. Adrian wasn't great at this because he had a tendency to get "too fast" at the beginning. This is understandable because we run against stacked boxes with CBs, SSs, and LBs coming around the edges to try to get him in the backfield. The Adrian running game this year has been an awesome collection of leads, traps and whams that use his strengths (he's explosive and best running hard and fast) really well. As well as our offensive line's athleticism.

i think literally 0% of packer fans are nervous about this game. (not really trying to sound like a douche, i just don't think anyone outside of AD and jared allen are nerve racking and it's rodgers in a dome.) obv anything could happen but...it's rodgers in a dome.

that said i don't mind this vikings team at all and so long as the packers win i am really rooting for AD to break the record. would kind of like them in the playoffs tbh. def more than chicago.

So, MN win and in.

MN lose and need CHI, NYG and DAL to lose.

Well Chicago and NYG will have already played, so we'll know a lot more come gametime.

I'll start. The plays we run remind me a lot of chillyball. eg - 3rd & 9, throwing a pass to the primary receiver who breaks off his route at ~7-8 yards. It seems like no matter what yardage we need on 3rd down, we're trying to get only half of it, rather than sending receivers on routes/throwing the ball to places where we actually get the 1st down. That makes sense on 2nd down - not 3rd. We're always relying on the receiver to break tackles in order to make the 1st down.

I agree with you that its been a good season (9 wins exceeded all our expectations and 10/playoffs would be amazing), Ponder does suck and we have no WRs. Our pass blocking leaves a lot to be desired as well.

Does AP's success have a lot to do with Musgrave? I dont know - maybe it does.

If we have a good WR and an adequate QB, does our passing game look the same with Musgrave? I'd prefer we fill those holes and find a better OC next year, but with our record at 9-7 or 10-6 this year, it doesnt seem to me like he's going to lose his job.

This is embarrassing to ask, but can someone give me the Percy rundown?

They said he was out for the season & gave few details, but I think it was supposed to be an ankle. Then he had surgery for appendicitis.

I think there's more to it than what they're saying. It seemed like after he yelled at Frazier on the sidelines, everything went downhill. I'd be surprised if he's back next season.

Trade Harvin to Jax for their #1 pick

my main issue with musgrave is our red zone offense but that could be a personell issue. rudolph seems to be our onlllly threat in the red zone. we've also had a lot of spots where our 2nd and 3rd down play calling has left us with FG attempts in spots where it probably would have made more sense to be considering the possibility of using 4 downs (but when we have managed to get to the 4th and shorts we've decent job of being aggressive wrt going for it).

that really sucks about percy as he is obviously one of our most valuable assets and it seemed he was having a good enough season that his pre-season issues should have been behind him. is his contract up after this year or next? plus the tag option...i don't see why we cant keep him unless he legit refuses to play for us. seems impossible to get fair compensation he should be worth at least a 1st...

FA agent after next season. 99% sure

he's under contract next year and we can tag him after that...why is he 99% FA?

I should have said I'm 99% sure his contract is up after next season.

oh ya ur right about that. but we can tag him and given his skillset and injury risk i wouldn't be surprised if his value will be far lower 2 years from now so it actually seems kinda ideal for us...

If Harvin would have shut up and played I think we would have given him a big deal this offseason. Now we could be in a position to let him play out his final year for 1.5m (unhappy as he may be) and then attempt a tag and trade.

Of course there's also the chance he has already successfully talked his way off the team. If he knew he didn't want to resign but also didn't want to play another year with us on the cheap making a big scene could have been his way of getting out. Would seem stupid though because he has probably cost himself a lot of money by playing into his already negative reputation as a trouble maker.

Percy is clearly a fan favorite, one of our very best players, young, and at a huge position of need for us. I think Zygi would have been more than happy to pay him a huge contract. There is also a chance that he has been causing problems dating back to last season and it was just kept under wraps. The Jarius Wright pick does seem like an insurance policy type pick.

This is a post from a different user on the Daily Norseman

Quote:
Zugad said on 1500 espn this a.m. that the Vikes are done with Percy. This is a trial separation. He said they could have kept him in town like they did with Peterson but that the understanding is that Frazier doesn’t want him around anymore…poisoning the locker room.
This unfortunately seems to be the situation. We put him on IR and told him to go back home to Florida rather than keep him around to rehab. I'll be extremely disappointed if Harvin has played his last game as a Viking, especially given that he has a year left on his contract at a price that makes him one of the absolute best players per dollar in the league.

So if hes as good as gone, now the question becomes what is his value?

Marshall went for two 3rds, but his career was going nowhere in Miami, and he was in trouble off the field as well.

Percy played amazing with no QB and is only 24 years old. He also has one more year at a huge discount. His value has to be higher than Marshall's was IMO.

The Dolphins have a huge need at WR, Percy is loved in Florida, oh and Miami has two 2nds and two 3rds this year.....
