I wish they'd shown attempts. TJax probably lower.

And again, Ponder's stats are inflated by BEASTMODE Harvin from the beginning of this season (compared to TJAX, overall they were both brought down by subpar WR play on average)

lol why is Ponder's name in quotes?

Offseason wish list:
1. Resign Percy - seems like this could be dependent on the coaching staff, QB, and how much our front office is willing to pay given injury history. He won't be a FA until after next yr but is unlikely to play again on his rookie deal.
2. Replace Musgrave - only way I could see him sticking around is if they blame it all on ponder and move on to a new QB. Ponder or musgrave will be gone.
3. Bring in QB competition - Alex smith, a draftee, give Webb a shot, anything but another yr of ponder as the unquestioned "franchise" QB. Learn from tjax and Sanchez mistakes.
4. Let Frazier walk - team has a 1 yr option. I don't mind keeping Frazier if we do #2, #3 but ideally we bring someone in that hires his own OC and decides what to do at QB.
5. Get some complimentary WRs. Not much you can do here assuming you pay Percy big bucks. Wright is the only guy besides Percy that is a lock to return.

Id also like to see at least 1 new guard but that seems a lot less important than the above.

100% agree with everything here.

Funny, because these are basically the exact things I have been thinking too.

A few positives here:

ADP will get more touches, increasing his 2k and MVP chances.

Vikings will have more leverage in contract negotiations now.

We have even less hope of winning another game, giving us a higher draft pick to rebuild this **** show around ADP and Harvin.

Ehh I see those as negatives. ADP getting more touches in meaningless games = bad.
Vikings don't need any more leverage, they already have him signed under contract for 1 more year w/ the franchise tag looming after. The problem is if Percy feels he should get 10m / yr and we use the injury as an excuse not to pay him it could keep us from signing him at all.

But what could possibly go wrong there?

oh, i don't know. i think it's pretty obvious he's been the most outstanding player this year. i think the majority of people would agree with that.

that's what offensive player of the year is for, he has not shot at MVP...CJ2K had a better season in 09 than ADP is having and didn't get a single MVP vote

Any word on if Ponder is starting this week? Did we bring in any vet QBs for tryouts?

Key to rebuilding, good HC or good QB. We have neither but we ~got everything else. Chip Kelly would be a godsend.

Chip Kelly + Michael Vick to the Vikings = Super Bowl contender IMO.

not sure if iggy is leveling, but i'd take both. don't know what % blame to assign ponder, muschamp and fielding a bunch of 7th string receivers; but my perception is rebooting at OC & QB would be very beneficial. admittedly i was pretty excited about ponder even heading into this year, but he's just had too many blunder INTs in opponent territory (regardless of how incompetent the WR corp is).

really wish we'd trade adp for two reasons: 1) it's devastating watching someone so talented and dedicated be wasted in a mediocre system. he can get 2k yards and come 3rd in MVP votes this year with more touches (and shorten his career in the process), but he won't go down as an all time great unless he leads a team to a superbowl. 2) he could probably fetch a lot of draft picks to rebuild. we are just not going to be contenders in time to align with his peak performance.

no question we should keep spielman around, 2012 draft was great. our secondary went from our greatest weakness to acceptable. should get better when cook comes back and smith & robinson get more experience. disagree that spielman botched free agency, we were like 4% to make the playoffs and i was really happy with the moves to get younger and not commit to any veteran FA signings. we can draft for WR, DT & MLB, and hopefully we can figure out our QB situation along the way... either with FA or better draft class in 2014.

Joe Webb for Matt Flynn makes sense at a glance.

I'd take Charlie Batch over Ponder right now, it really is getting sickening. Who is Brady's backup, I'll take him, **** I'll take any backup in the league right now over Ponder.

Dont forget 5 years $25 mil for broken down backup TE Carlson - that money could have been put towards the obvious glaring need at WR, or we could have saved the $25 mil.

While its incredibly unlikely that he wins MVP, he is definitely having a much better season than Johnson's 09. He has half a yard per carry on that season, which is huge.

/edit although yards aren't really the important stat for MVP hopeful RBs. TDs are. And he'd need to score like 20 over the next 4 games to be in MVP territory.

When you only need to improve at one position to be good, rebuilds don't necessarily take that long. The Vikings don't need tons of picks. They need a normal amount of picks + a strategy to improve at that one position.

The guy had a history of being injured and was not an elite TE when he wasnt injured.

I was just quoting the guaranteed number. My point was just that it seems unlikely he'd be with the team beyond 2013, if even that long. And yeah it was a bad signing no matter how you slice it.

Harvin trying to practice - then going on ir is confusing since the team keeps talking about trying to win out and make the playoffs. Zulgad thinks there could be another issue, hope that's not the case.
