is this crazy: so farve sits around and gets healthy enough to think he can recapture some 2009 magic, and he realizes he cant go out like a complete chump and finally he will be with a head coach he likes. do we lay down and be his bitch again for one more year?

and as far as the coaching thing fisher would obviously be hired by us within the hour if the titans fire him.

Personally, I'm hoping to see a bit of what we have in Webb. Assuming, of course, he's ready to be put out there and he'll have enough success so that he won't be irreparably harmed by not doing well in a few starts.

I said the QB of the future isn't on the roster right now. I'm not sure Jackson isn't the 2011 starter, if the season gets played.

I'm still not a huge fan of starting rookie QBs, if it can be helped.

+1 to "would hire Fisher in a second if he became available."

I doubt that Zygi would have him back after what has happened this year.

Maybe let him come back only if we draft a guy in the 1st round who isnt ready to step in & start right away, and only allow him back if he shows up to all the mandatory pre-camp and training camp stuff? lol, like that's going to happen.

Part of why chilly's regime became unraveled was because he let Favre skip camp.

Yeah, that makes sense, although we could get Kolb or something.

I really doubt Kolb is going to become available.

If he did, I'd bet someone looking to make him their long-term starter would end up with him.

Wouldnt we be acquiring him for that reason if we did get him?

I hope you are right. I've seen more than enough of him for one lifetime.

I think we need to bring in some kind of gm in order to separate the personnel and coaching decisions, as we all saw what a disaster giving the coach total control was.
results oriented. i have no idea if separate GM and coach (and owner) is good or not, but just because childress couldn't do it doesn't mean someone else can't do it.

Oh, I suppose. It seemed like everyone was super excited about drafting someone though. I guess I'm just saying it would have to be one or the other.

cowher seems like a good coach. but i don't really trust my instincts there since he is such a physical caricature of a good coach. i mean it seems likely that he's overrated since he's the GOAT at coach's looks.

I would take Kolb over any of the draft prospects besides Luck

i have no opinion. i'm guessing that the best candidate is someone i've never heard of.

not that cowher is a necessarily bad option or that i wouldn't be pleased with him.

If there is to be a new coach next season, I hope the hiring system is fair. I'm obviously hurt by Mr. Wilf's decision today, and disappointed in how we have performed this season, and because of the extreme bad luck I can understand why Mr. Wilf thought a new coach might inspire the players. Old coaches, even great ones, can sometimes get stale and new blood needs to be brought in to revitalize a franchise. Including franchises that had their record improve for years and were one of the best four teams in the NFL last season.

I expect Mr. Wilf to open the job to all candidates, and I will throw my hat in the ring. I have had a distinguished career as a head coach, have posted excellent results in many years, and have nurtured both the greatest quarterback and greatest running back of all-time. Any fair system that judges coaches by their entire resume would result in me becoming the next head coach of the Minnesota Vikings.

Of course, there would still be the issue of salary to deal with, and I expect I should be earning slightly more than my last contract paid, adjusting for inflation, etc.

You might be right about the best candidate being someone we've never heard of, but that's what we tried last time. Do you trust Zygi to hire the right unknown person? I sure as hell do not.

I'd be ecstatic with Cowher and would welcome Billick, Chucky, Dungy or Holmgren for sure, as well as some more guys I'm probably forgetting. I dont want some up & coming guy because I think its more likely he'll be a mistake than the best candidate. I'd rather keep Frazier than hire an unknown.

Cowher is more of a sure thing than anyone else imo.

I agree. I feel like Zygi is going to try and go for a proven name this time since he whiffed so bad going with a coordinator before.
