Seriously this, almost the same thing as Harvin's no TD against GB, it's almost like our coach is doing a poor job

Yeah seriously, you'd think taking jabs at the guy who nearly single-handedly got him a huge contract extension last season would be off-limits.

That "need a hug" comment was basically an inside joke and not a big deal at all.

We have all kinds of reasons to hate chilly & want him fired (confirmed liar, *******, worst coach ever, etc.), but that comment should not be one. See my avatar & location if there are any questions about what I think of chilly.

I think he prob will for a couple games just by virtue of not being banged up.
Chicago should help the Vikes pad their sack numbers.

I've been searching Vikings articles today to see if anyone mentions how much Favre called the plays himself during the hurry-up 4th Q.

Quote:
It was Favre, after all, who threw for a career-high 446 yards and appeared to be calling most of the plays during a frantic fourth quarter
That's the only comment I can find. We got a glimpse of awesomeness there but now we'll go back to Dugan/Tahi/Kleinsasser vs Chicago. Yeah, I know we can't go hurry up all the time, but we can go 3 wides most of the time, even with Bernard Berrian on the field.

Seeing Peterson run like he did a few times yesterday when give space is so beautiful. This zone left/zone right, run into a wall of your own blockers crap is so frustrating. It's telling as well that yesterday he got his 2nd career receiving TD with the first coming in the first game of his career.

Re: ADP - Even the normally clueless Fox commentators were talking about how much better he runs out of a single back set opposed to with a fullback "leading" the way.

3 WR / $5 / ADP = omgomgomgomgomgomg

ONE TIME!!!

1. Camarillo had a nice game yesterday. He showed exactly what he brings to a team and we're foolish to not have him out there. He's a perfect short pass target for Favre when he's under pressure.

2. Kluwe. NFL ranks: 2nd in Net Punting yds, 18 punts inside the 20 (19 is NFL leader), 1st in avg return yds per punt. He's had a Pro Bowl first half.

3. Quirky stat: We're last in the NFL in Field Goal Attempts with 8. What do you make of that?

We dont move the ball into FG range often, and when we do, we usually go for it and fail on 4th down?

Lots of TOs in opponents territory too, imo.

^^^

While he has made some not so great throws, it was lol listening to the analysis of the game on ESPN afterwards (I know, standard).

"Another classic Favre INT" was the description of the goal line INT on Sunday. Really? McKinnie got totally dicked and then pushed his defender right at Favre - who was sandblasted right as he went to throw. I wouldn't exactly put that duck on Favre.

Yeah, 1st pick I'd give 50/50 to Favre and Berrian since I can't say who is at fault.

2nd one any "blame" goes on McKinnie but it was mostly a great play by Porter and some bad luck (hit was timed perfectly and caused the ball to go directly to a defender). That is giving Favre the benefit of the doubt that he was actually trying to go to the open Shiancoe in the back of the endzone and not the covered Kleinsasser underneath (where it actually went).

Anyway, that may have been the best game I've seen out of Favre since he's been on the Vikings. Throw after throw in the perfect location. The AdP TD and the Gerhart trip play were both awesome. The final TD was ridiculous. Adrian Wilson was right there but Favre made a perfect throw.

Why can't we score on 4th down from the 1 yard line?

It cost us the Miami game, probably cost us the NE game, and should have cost us the AZ game.

I'm just flummoxed as to how we are 0-3 on 4th and goal from the 1 yard line with the best back in the NFL.

Sample size of 3 is probably the most important factor there.

The Vikings are actually 2nd in the NFL in power success rate with an astounding 80%. If they can come anywhere near keeping that up they should be going for it on 4 and <2 probably anywhere past their own 40.

Quote:
Power Success: Percentage of runs on third or fourth down, two yards or less to go, that achieved a first down or touchdown. Also includes runs on first-and-goal or second-and-goal from the two-yard line or closer. This is the only statistic on this page that includes quarterbacks.
/edit last year they were 23rd with ~60%. Obviously the goal to go situations are a little tougher than the midfield ones, but still, sample size of 3 plays!

Right - lol, sample size.

That's impressive that we're at 80% overall - thanks for that stat. It's just so frustrating when ******* Chilly actually has the balls to do the right thing on the goal line and it doesn't pan out.

Didn't see the 4th and 1 in the AZ game, but teams watch film, we went with the same play vs miami and ne. I'm with TMQ on short yardage, especially goal to go. The defense is set to go straight ahead so a little counter or misdirection would be best.

I don't know how you're giving McKinnie such a pass for that horrible play. It's a 3-step drop on the goaline. Sure, Porter made a nice move but McKinnie has to do much, much better than that. Even though he's had a pretty good year that was a horrific lapse that could have cost us the game.
