Why Chilly cut Moss

"After catching only one pass for 8 yards in the Vikings' 28-18 loss to the New England Patriots, Moss walked into the visitors' locker room where Wilf and other executives stood. According to an NFL source familiar with what transpired, Moss told the Vikings owner in no uncertain terms that Childress wasn't a good coach and should be fired."

I really really really hope Randy goes into that in an interview shortly. Although with him not taking Q's the rest of the year and interviewing himself, who knows. Plus, I suppose he's got to think of FA next year...

bah Zygi almost fired Chilly

Quote:
Randy Moss did not appear on waivers for 24 hours because Vikings owner Zygi Wilf was furious about being circumvented by Brad Childress and considered retaining Moss and firing the head coach, according to a team source.

Childress and two team executives did not respond to emails and text messages sent by ESPN seeking comment.

Childress is under contract for two more seasons, but The Star Tribune reported Wednesday that Childress made the decision to cut Moss without consulting Wilf.

Moss was claimed by the Tennessee Titans on Wednesday after just four games after Minnesota. Moss was acquired by the Vikings in a midseason trade with the New England Patriots.

Wilf, who lives in New Jersey, spent much of the past week observing practices and meeting individually with Vikings players. One of the players who participated in such a meeting told ESPN he sensed Wilf was attempting to determine how much support remained for Childress among veteran players and wanted to remind them they could still make the playoffs.

Childress admitted he expects a negative reception from the Minnesota crowd on Sunday.

"I'm not crazy enough to think there wont be catcalls," he said. "That's part of the deal, that happens every time I walk on or off of a field. It's always interesting to hear what people have to say. That's part of the audience participation thing."

Moss drew the ire of some teammates before his release when he insulted the team's caterer after a Friday practice, appeared to play half-heartedly in a loss to his former Patriots teammates and then lauded New England players and coaches while second-guessing Childress and the Vikings staff. The Star Tribune also reported Friday that Moss went to Wilf in the locker room immediately after the game and loudly encouraged him to fire Childress.

"I guess some people didn't know how to take on that personality," said veteran offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie, who played with Moss during both of his Vikings stops. "When I got here the first time, he was already here and everybody was used to him. So for him to come back to this team and the whole new coaching staff probably didn't know how to take on such a strong personality."
Why couldn't this happen 1 timeeee
Oh well, can't wait to see the reaction to Chilly on Sunday

If Wilf would have stopped the Moss waiver and fired Chilly then he would have had to pay him the rest of his contract, and who knows how Moss would have responded anyways.. By not stopping it, he can hopefully fire Chilly with cause and not owe him a dime

It seems like chilly's firing is only a matter of time now. I cant imagine this team playing hard for this bozo ever again.

I hope we sign Moss as a free agent in the off season.

I mean starting **** with harvin now? He has obviously lost it. What kind of coach questions the effort of a player trying to grind it out on a sprained ankle

Next: Chilly benches ADP for Gerhart because ADP is running out of bounds too much.

After Zygi Wilf conversed with members of the organization, including players, the Minnesota Vikings owner left some of those he spoke to with the impression he is still contemplating firing coach Brad Childress regardless of whether the Vikings win or lose against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, several sources told ESPN Senior NFL Analyst Chris Mortensen.

If the Vikings win, Wilf is expected to measure the manner in which the team plays and how Childress manages the game. If the Vikings lose, there is a growing likelihood he would promote defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier to replace Childress, the sources said.
from ESPN

Also regarding Favre: "As for Favre, he indicated that he might be done soon unless the Vikings start winning, saying: "There's still hope for us. If I thought there was no hope, I'd sit down.""

Lol now I understand why Chilly is so conservative at end of halfs. Call timeout 3rd and 19 at the 10 and 90 secs left and they convert then bring it all the way down for a TD. This is humiliating.

This team is a joke, no more point in posting every time they do something that boggles the mind, because it happens just about every series.

I sincerely believe that losing the game is the best thing for the Vikings long and short term. Clutch INT by Favre imo.

Arizona's defense is not good. 10 points and 2 picks through 3 quarters at home. So glad we got rid of that bum Moss.

I really don't think you can blame Favre when McKinnie doesn't even make contact with the guy lined up across from him.

This year Favre impressing me with toughness. Pass blocking has been awful all year. Tjack back there would be a disaster; he loves to hold, hold, hold the ball.
