Redskins consider tagging Kirk Cousins to trade him

This sounds like it could backfire on WAS if they attempt to do it. I dont want to give up significant assets plus huge money for Cousins, and I bet most teams feel the same. Cousins could screw them over badly too if they try this.

Obviously, the Eagles had outstanding success at QB this year but its hard to know who to attribute that success to, especially with a very offensive-minded HC.

DeFilippo is a relatively unknown quantity to me. One season as OC in Cleveland isn't a lot to go off of.

It seems like PHI really liked him and he had at least one HC interview this offseason, so overall seems like a good signing.

Definitely tough to say what his contribution to the overall success of the offense was but:

A) From everything I've read he was very highly regarded in the org
B) Even if he didn't contribute much, he had front row seats to the DOUG show and presumably will bring some of that over.

Any reason why we shouldn’t want him? Other than the fact that we are the Vikings and teddy/keenum/Bradford are a lock to become the next Joe Montana and win 10 Super Bowls for the Browns

Cousins has proven himself to be a top 10 NFL QB and has has started all 16 games each of the past three seasons. Guys like that dont become available in free agency very often.

I’m hearing like 30m/yr for cousins and like 20m/yr for keenum. Haven’t heard much on bridgewater but I’d be surprised if he got much less than $15m/yr. Am I wrong on some of this?

I can see teddy starting somewhere. He’s gonna try to sign a one year prove it deal I’m sure so wouldn’t make sense for him to ride the pine. Can’t rly think of too many strong possibilities tho. Maybe jets?

I'd go 1 year 40mm fully guaranteed at Brees. Tell him he can go back to Saints the year after.

redskins cousins relationship was tainted, so paying him more than redskins did/would is moot

he could just go to highest bidder in which case you worry about winner's curse, but of prospective teams MIN has best offensive weapons, best defense, and cousins talking about wanting to be the Spurs of the NFL. also some story about Michigan/Minnesota tax reciprocity laws that favor working in MN. basically multiple factors suggesting we don't necessarily have to overpay for a top tier QB

big day. have to like this move. 3 year super bowl window is open. slightly sad to see teddy go but the rest of our roster is way too good to roll the dice on an unproven qb at this point.
