Also a sick vintage performance by Liriano. This has been a really encouraging game imo.

Liriano's slider really looks unhittable. Pirates couldn't touch him in the spring training game I was at. His control was off in his first start but his stuff looked great. So good to see everything working for him today.

Word to the wise; if you park in Garage B, do not follow the West 394 exit.

I took the bus to opening day.

Today we drove, parked by the dome, took the light rail there and then walked back. Seemed to work well, since traffic had dissipated by the time we were in the car.

Officially going to the Rangers @ Twins game on May 29.

We want to sit where we can see the city skyline behind the stadium.

Where would that be?

Really pumped by Liriano's outing today. His stuff looks great, if he can just pump that fastball in there for strikes early in the count like he did today he could have a fantastic season.

I'd probably walk to the stadium to be honest if it's nice out. I'd only be about 30-45 min walk.

Trying to acquire sat tickets at the moment. Everyone selling tix for twice face on cl deserves to get punched in the face.

i'm always perplexed when a person complains about having an option he chooses not to take (or even more perplexing, one he does take) - as if not having the option would be better. the concept of minimum wage is an obvious example.

From Jayson Stark (ESPN.com)

Quote:
Twin peeks: We've heard from two league sources that the Twins have an insurance policy on Nathan's contract that figures to reimburse them a "significant" chunk of the $11.25 million their closer has coming this season. So that's more than enough money to allow them to chase a closer at the trading deadline if they think they need one.

But even though Nathan figures to be ready for next year, one GM says he wouldn't be looking strictly for a rent-a-closer if he were in the Twins' shoes.

"In my experience, it takes 16 months to get right after Tommy John," he said. "Yeah, in a year he'll be throwing. And he should probably be pitching. But he might not be the same for 16 months. So if you're going to make a deal in July, you'd be better off with a guy like Heath Bell, because he can get you through two years if you need him to, and he can set up for a year if you need him to do that."

There's actually another good reason the Twins wouldn't be likely to deal for a rent-a-reliever. Rauch and two of their prime setup men, Jesse Crain and Matt Guerrier, can all be free agents after this season. So a rental would force them to replace four bullpen pieces next winter in a thin market.

So if they make a trade, it might not be a traditional kind of deadline deal. Other potentially available closers this July who would be under contract through 2011: Francisco Cordero, Gonzalez and Wood (if he vests his 2011 option by finishing 55 games this year).

No love for Jesse?

God we're for real, this is such a sick team. Our pitching will probably get dicey at some point but we can ****ing MASH. Remember when we had some combination of Delmonstrosity-Harris-Punto-Gogo-Casilla hitting from 6-9? We now have Cuddyer/Kubel-Thome-Hardy-Punto when we do the lineup correctly, or a so far improved Delmon. Its amazing how big a difference that makes.

it's funny how the media acts like "closer" and "setup man" are totally different positions.
