The funniest part of this game is that Blackburn keeps getting like 5 pitch innings so the batters can continue pummeling them. It could be a record for biggest time differential between teams at the plate.

why is mijares getting charged with an ER there? the guy who scored should have been out at second on tolbert's throwing error so shouldn't he be an unearned run?

lol, Gardy pitching Nathan in the 9th. If you really need your best reliever to "get some work in" in a 19 run game, isn't that a sign that maybe you should use him more often?

even though I think hitting streaks are ******ed, I'm sad that we scored 11 runs and mauer didn't get a hit (despite having a great offensive day!)

that said, I will take a game like that every day plz

Swarzak was considered a pretty good prospect a couple years ago iirc. Then he kind of sucked last year so fell off the radar a bit but got off to a good start this year. He has a chance to be good imo.

No, He's just in a good groove right now. Almost every HR has been identical, pitch low and away, boom, ~5 rows into the seats in LF-LC. And he's had 4-5 warning track shots on a similar line. He had 2 to CF in Yankee Stadium but the rest have been carbon copies of each other iirc. So I think it's more good groove, than steriods.

Watching on Gamecast, which shows that last one was down the left field line, same kind of shot?

Yeah just a liner to left that barely made it into the second row.

Swarzak has looked pretty solid so far, hopefully we can keep getting good starts. Twins look poised to crush the National League again this year.

Time for a .400/.500/.800 Mauer watch thread?

Also I'd like to take a second to point out how absurd it is that Bonds hit better than that (on average) over a 4-season period.

Mauer's HR chart. His one tonight was similar to the shortest one on there imo:

Mauer is maturing as a hitter. As Roy Smalley said in the pregame & post game shows, he saw similar increases in power for hitters like Don Mattingly and George Brett. Kirby Puckett hit 0 & 4 homers his first two years, then hit 31 in his 3rd year. It happens for a lot of great hitters. And its not always steroids.

Gotta love Phillips and Hershiser going on about how he wasn't trying to go the other way with inside pitches anymore as the reason for his power surge when that was his first one to right field.
