I hear ya...the defensive effort in the last game was embarrassing.

Despite the valid criticism, I still like D-Lo though, because I just...do. He's fun to watch. Exact same thing with Russ...everyone seems to hate him as a player, and he is a walking brick, but again, he's fun.

Juancho & Layman should be glued to the end of the bench. They both suck.

DLo is so frustrating to watch when Towns isnt in the game. He is Wiggins 2.0 right now.

Would throwing in Juancho instead of Davis work? I would love either deal. Why would the Wizards do that though?

It would but Juancho can't be traded until Feb 26th and DLo's value will be even more massively negative by then. Also Juancho is so terrible that I doubt the Wiz want to pay him 7m next year. Ed Davis comes off the cap after this year so it's some incentive for them.

This was already a known thing, I don't know why people were excited about getting him besides the fact that he probably keeps Towns from getting butthurt

At least for me, and I think for most people, it wasn’t the excitement about getting D Lo, it was the excitement of who they were getting rid of when D LO was acquired

DLo found a new level of putrid in that first quarter.

Like Wiggins was really bad for a max player. DLo was legit the worst player on the floor for either team before garbage time.

That’s saying a lot for a floor full of Wizards, but true.

Guess we’re just going to let anyone drop 130 on us, whether they rest their stars or not.

Why is Culver starting over Edwards? Lose by 21 to a 0-5 team. Saunders needs to go

I think the idea is that Culver is a budding role player that won't get in the way and will be the starting lineup's defensive stopper with Okogie out. While Ant doesn't move the ball at all and is a 1-on-1 player (that looks VERY good occasionally). Unfortunately Culver is getting shoved around by bigs and can't shoot a lick out there. Playing small gets us nothing, Rosas. Culver and Okogie can't punish a big with shooting or handles so we get no advantage and instead get killed in the paint all game.

Via NBA WOWY ALL GAMES
Rubio ON/Dlo OFF: 126.7 ORTG/110.9 DRTG in 50 minutes. (Rubio +15.8 with no DLo)

Dlo ON/Rubio OFF: is 87 ORTG/ 115.5 DRTG in 73 minutes. (DLo -28.5 with no Rubio)

Rubio + DLo: 61 minutes -17.2

DLo is absolutely killing us. Rubio makes him less awful (11.3 better) but still "blow out every game" awful. Conversely DLo is worth -30 net rating to Rubio.

Every single player in the wolves rotation is better with Rubio than DLo

Jeez...Dlo was -21 tonight. Seems to really be phoning it in.

Don’t think I’ve seen worse PG play since the end of the Jonny Flynn era, and I WANT Dlo to do well so badly...

DL0 now -110 over the last 4 games. The Wolves are +6 with him off the court over that stretch.

The timberwolves are -113 with DLo on the court this season. They are +33 with him off.

Over the last 4 games (KAT out), -110 with DLo on the court, +6 with him off the court.

TS% for the Wolves in 175 minutes with D’Angelo Russell on the floor = 49.5%.
TS% for the Wolves in 113 minutes with D’Angleo Russell off the floor = 57.7%
TS% for the Wolves in 62 minutes with both Rubio and Russell on the floor = 54.3%, which means the team has a lower TS% than 49.5% when Rubio isn’t on the floor with him…it actually falls to 46.8%

TS% for the Wolves in 142 minutes with Rubio on the floor = 56.0%. Not amazing, but around average for the league.
TS% for the Wolves in 149 minutes without Rubio on the floor = 49.5%.

Defensive rating with Russell on the floor = 124.5
Defensive rating with Russell off the court= 100.0

When Rubio is on the court, but Russell is off, the Timberwolves have an offensive rating of 116.5 and DRtg of 112.3. (+4.2)
When Russell is on the court, but Rubio is off, the Timberwolves have an offensive rating of 89.8 and DRtg of 123.4. (-33.6)

So are you insinuating the wolves are a better team w/o DLo?

You can blame KAT for the Wolves acquiring him probably.

Yes

Pretty clearly frankly. In fact, every team D'Angelo has ever played on has been better (often much better) with him on the bench except for his "all-star" year where he was +0.1

The way DLo is playing, I think most would agree.

Besides maybe the Detroit Lions or Cincinnati Bengals, is there a worse and more inept franchise in pro sports other than the timberwolves? This is their 32nd or 33rd season as a franchise, and they have won a playoff series in only 1 of those years. I believe they have the lowest winning % in the NBA over the last 15 or so season.

First half was amazing!

Juancho has 21 at half, had only 19 points in 90 minutes coming in. DLo shot 9 free throws, was only 4/10 coming in.

Vanderbilt unglued from the bench and looking great

The timberwolves have the lowest winning percentage of any team in the 4 major sports

I had not looked at the numbers much, but the eye test had me thinking it was very bad. I didnt realize Dlo was this bad though. Dlo is unwatchable at times.

While Rubio has not played very well for him, how bad would this team be without him right now?

Saunders needs to go imo. He might be a fine coach someday. Probably not, but he is definitely not ready to be a HC in the NBA now.

Vanderbuilt should be getting 30+ minutes at PF per game imo. He has some skills, plays very hard and has a chance to be a good contributor.

Juancho is so bad at everything except for shooting wide open 3s. I'm not sure which is worse - watching him stand there and watch the other team play offense while doing nothing on defense, or watching him feebly miss wide open layups on a consistent basis.

I wonder if the net negative of Juancho and Dlo and their albatross contracts might be worse than Wiggins and his right now.

I think our current lineup of Rubio, Edwards, Culver, Vandy, KAT might be our best, or at the very least most interesting.

Thank god KAT is back. Legit don't think we would ever win another game without him.
