Lmao

Edit: damn 32 year old head coach. Is that a record?

Edit2: I guess LeBron has the record for youngest head coach ever.

Considering the effort he gave in addition to the numbers, I agree. He still took some bad shots that I want to see him quit taking, but if he played with effort like this every game, he'd be a great player.

Some of the rebounds he got last night were awesome, and the block of the 3 pointer near the end of the game was too. He looked focused when shooting FTs too. All this makes me wonder if he wasnt personally tanking to try and help get Thibs fired.

Youngest since Sidney Lowe.

Youngest to win his 1st game since Dave Cowens was player/coach.

The defense over that span is 10pts/100 better with Rose off than with him on which might explain things

from comments at Canis:

Quote:
....with Derrick Rose on the floor in the last 3 minutes of the 2nd half, when games are within 5 points, the Timberwolves have an offensive rating of 98.5 and a defensive rating of 127.3.
TRADE ROSE!

Trade Rose for what? He's got little to no value around the league I'd think.

Some used sweat socks.

He can actually be ok on offense sometimes, but his terrible defense more than negates it, and when he starts taking bad shots, he's a huge net negative influence on the team. I just want him off the team because I am scared that we might give him substantial money this off season because "he's an all-star".

Seriously though, maybe we can get a mid 2nd round pick for him before the trade deadline.

Good comment from Canis in the game summary from last night's win over the Lakers:
Quote:
"The moral of the story, is that this was a TEAM win all around", and that this team doesn’t need Rose

Derrick Rose was the only Wolves’ player, in the game, with a negative Net Rating (-8.0)
But with the highest usg%, higher than KAT ( Rose 28, KAT 24)

Since 11/12/18, post Butler, his Defensive Rating is the worst on the team (after Bayless who played only 11 games), and the team is better by 5 points when he is not on the court.

Last night when he left the court the Wolves were down by 2 points. By the end of the game the team was up by 15, a swing of 17 points without the man who is taking playing time from Tyus and OKG and FGAs from KAT and Wigg, and above all damaging the chemistry of the team with his iso/drive game.

So, just trade the guy; the Wolves don’t need him.

Oh, and in January his 3p% is only 19%

and the follow up comment after that:
Quote:

It is well known that we have a better record when he is injured but … also when he is in court, the more he shots the more we lose:

Without Rose – 7W / 3L (70% wins)
With Rose 0-10 shots – 5W / 2L (71% wins)
With Rose 11-15 shots – 6W / 6L (50% wins)
With Rose 16-19 shots – 4W / 8L (33% wins)
With Rose 20+ shots – 2W / 5L (28% wins)

lol

After this last 0-3 road trip, it looks like its time to add another "re" to this thread title. We would have to go 20 - 7 the rest of the way to get to 45 wins, and that might not be enough for the 8th seed. I havent heard if/when Tyus and Covington are coming back, but our defensive effort sucks bad most of the time with them out. We have some nice runs, but we have those horrible stretches with awful defensive breakdowns that kill us even vs bad teams.

Not moving any expiring contracts for assets at the trade deadline was another huge mistake. They put all their hopes on these guys making the playoffs and the team has basically given up. Other teams even showed interest in trading for Wiggins - I have no idea what was offered, and I assume the offers included some other bad contracts, but you have to wonder if we could have come out in better shape getting rid of his putrid contract.

Rip the band aid off and get rid of Wiggins. Might be worse for a year, but getting out from under that contract is definitely beneficial 3 or 4 years down the road.

I agree. Especially defensively. He was a bargain and Thibs never gave him meaningful minutes. I think if Wiggins would have played all of Deng's minutes last night, the Clippers would have crushed us.

yeah, great idea, but too late again since the trade deadline passed. Another trade deadline passes and the rest of the league sees more of Wiggins for what he is.

No one has leaked what exactly was offered for him, but Jon K said some teams "tried to steal him" from us. LOL. I dont think Jon appreciates how horrible his contract is. John Wall has probably the only contract in the NBA that is close to as bad as Wiggins'. I think we should have accepted the least stinky pile of garbage offered for him.

Layden is afraid to do anything and Taylor probably still thinks that Wiggins can be a valuable player. He probably could be valuable as a guy off the bench making the mid level exception, but at $25mil or whatever it is he makes for the next 5 years, he's an anchor that could hold down a cruise ship.

I just heard someone refer to him as Standrew Wiggins, so that's what I'll be calling him from now on.

yeah, that would be good. Hopefully some team "steals" him from us this off season.

lol, I like that.

I heard that Tyus and Covington both might be coming back after the all star break. We might have an outside shot at making a run if Standrew doesnt get in the way.
