On the replays I saw, it looked like there was space between Butler and Lavine the whole way. I was at a bar, so I could have missed something somewhere though.

Ah. Yeah, he totally hit and pushed on his elbow. It did look kind of different from when a guy gets tapped on the elbow but that's because the foul was more solid and blatant than usual.

I wonder if the wolves could of gotten butler for Wiggins and Dunn? How much better would the team look with Kat, Gibson, butler, Lavine, Teague with markkanen coming off the bench?

Even though Lavine can create his own shot very well, I still think he's a better off the ball , catch the ball and shoot player than Wiggins

We probably could have but we would have wasted 1 of our 2 years of Jimmy with Zach out/recovering from his ACL.

(no trade was the best move)

That last parenthetical is ridiculous.

Yeah jimmy is one of the best assets in the league

Like just compare the 2016-17 results to what we’ve seen so far this season. Jimmy obv >>>> Lavine and Dunn.

Now if you think no trade was +EV due to fading woyas dynasty etc etc that’s fair I suppose

I think they're suggesting that we could have traded Wiggins and Dunn for Butler instead of Lavine, Dunn and Markkenen. I dont know if that was on the table or not.

There's no doubt that having Butler on our roster in either one of those deals is way better than not having traded for him.

With how Wiggins is being paid starting next season, I wish we could have traded him for something of value before he signed that contract. I think his trade value is likely to be negative now.

I'll feel much better about the trade once Butler has signed an extension. For now i can't even get pleasure out of watching the team play, only relief when they don't lose.

Last year Lavine was clearly a better player than Wiggins. However, given the torn acl plus the potential for Wiggins to improve under thibs/butler, Wiggins appeared to be slightly better asset at the time. Now, after Lavine has recovered and Wiggins has had 2/3 of a year of not improving along with a huge contract extension, Lavine again looks like the better asset.

Hindsight is 20/20 I can’t blame them for preferring Wiggins at the time. If anything giving him the contract was the mistake

The SAC game was like this for me. Lots of our games are, but not all of them.

I agree.

All this Derrick Rose noise had me concerned. People were reporting that we were the team most likely to sign him. Now that he has cleared waivers and a little time has passed, I'm thinking that we are probably not considering picking him up. I just read a story talking about him possibly going to WAS, and the story didnt mention MN. This is a relief. Not only is he now very bad at NBA basketball, he is a bad person and a locker room cancer. My fingers are still crossed that he does not come here until someone else picks him up.

Tyus has been fine too, I thought the report was strange and very unlikely to be true to begin with

Fingers crossed

While we are revisiting offseason moves, let’s give credit on Gibson. He’s done a good job imo

yeah, he has been very good, but I dont know if we overpaid him or not. There didnt seem to be much other competition for him, so it seems like we could have got him cheaper.

You can say that about pretty much every deal ever.

We could also bring up how this thread was viciously anti-Kris Dunn and how solid he’s looked this year.

He’s been good but I’m always hesitant to crown guys who are in hapless situations where virtually the entire game is garbage time. To be fair, that was the wolves last year too though lol

I still don’t think he’s a guy I’d want in my rotation on a title contending team

I’ll eat crow on Rubio tho

I think the lesson is that point guards take a while to develop. Tyus is another example.

He has but unfortunately a non-shooting, non-rim protecting, not-great rebounding 4 is not very impactful.

Was it? I know i was very unhappy with him in the early part of the season (because it was apparent he was a bad pick) but i warmed to him considerably throughout the season because of his toughness and WIM and a million smart little things that he did on the floor.

Both techs on Towns were awful calls. Those 2 plays adding up to a star getting ejected is a travesty.

I agree, but it was stupid on his part to b.itch to the ref when he had a technical already. He needs to quit complaining so much.

I was watching the Toronto game a little before ours last night. CJ Miles is exactly what this team has needed all season - wing depth and solid 3 point shooting. His 3 % last season was .413; this season its .391 and its .364 for his career. His WS/48 is .143 this season - we currently only have two players on the roster better than that - KAT & Butler. My understanding we could have had Miles if we had dumped Aldrich's contract, and that the cost of dumping it was the OKC #1 pick in 2018. We ****ed up badly by not making that deal.

There were lots of ways we could have had Miles. He'd certainly be nice, that's for sure.
