The biggest problem with the signing is that using our cap space to upgrade like 20-25 minutes per game from Gorgui minutes or Bjelly minutes to Taj minutes is extremely marginal compared to upgrading [literally nobody] minutes to [somebody] minutes on the wing. The caliber of somebody that we can now afford is really low.

Hope we can somehow find the room to get Crawford or Miles!

Celtics traded Avery Bradley. I think he would of been a perfect 6th man for this team.

Bradley would've been fantastic

If they didn't get GH, dieng would've been attractive to them I think (one of the only teams I can say that for)

Wow, Ricky finishes his Wolves career plus-345 in 11,216 minutes. That's amazing considering he never played for a winning team.

We were -1545 with Rubio off, +345 with him on.

I will miss him. He is a very good player who makes the players around him better, despite his shooting weakness.

Pretty annoying to think that had we not signed Taj we'd have enough to sign KCP. He'd fit very nicely.

Yeah I'll miss Ricky too. I'm very curious to see what KCP gets.. After the THJr offer sheet, I have no clue. I would hate to pay him anywhere near that much.

Doubt we are gonna want KCP at whatever price he ends up at

From Asch on nba.com, about the impact of Rubio for the Wolves

Consider that in the 10 seasons after Minnesota traded away Kevin Garnett in 2007, 101 different players appeared in a regular-season game for the team. Of those, 62 logged at least 500 minutes. Well, the Wolves outscored their foes with just two of them on the floor:

* Rubio, who was plus-345 in 11,216 minutes.

* Garnett, who was plus-72 in 654 minutes in a second stint (2015-2016) in Minnesota.

We are in serious talks with Jamal Crawford.

That's it! Your 2017-18 Timberwolves!!

Why would that be it?

Crawford is probably could for ~22-25mpg. At least he's a professional basketball player at the wing. I don't think he can play with Tyus very much unfortunately.

That's the room exception. We have $3M in cap space.

Our only backup wing is 38.

Jimmy Carter was President when Crawford was born.

I like the Crawford deal.

Overall I'm disappointed with the offseason after the butler trade

A young 38 though, he never put any wear on his tires working on his game in the off season.

I don't like it, but it's basically the best we're gonna get, and we didn't have to trade our first rounder next year to get him(not that we're not gonna do that anyway, heh). I know it's only 4 mill per, but there's a really good chance he's not even replacement level this next year. I hope im wrong though

Whole offseason has been Thibs flooring it at 90mgph straight at a brick wall while i say "holy **** you're gonna hit a brick wall" and everyone else saying "wow, this car goes fast!"

I mean, in 2 years when Crawful and Taj are out of the league and we're totally and completely capped out, is Jimmy Butler gonna be like "well, the roster will clearly get worse from here but i think i will resign any way."??

**** you thibs

Most of the people who I saw comment on Canis about Crawford say he is spent. He was always a good scorer, but not super efficient and he is bad at defense and very skinny. On the bright side, he has always been pretty good at shooting 3s and can get his own shot off.

We need to dump salary to get some more wing help, or pray that somehow a D league guy becomes good.

Maybe Rush would sign for $3m. That wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.

I'm hoping we bring Rush back, but I was hoping that JC would be our 4th wing, not our 3rd. He's not good enough anymore to get his shot off consistently, but maybe he could transition into more of a spotup shooter.

Obviously he won't be that good of a shooter, but maybe due to improved looks and not having to create himself he can stay around his career rate for 3s.

I guess we'll just have to see who else they get. Apparently he said in an interview he's going to get 2 more wings and a pg.

Maybe they're going to trade gorgui
Minnesota Timberwolves- Re-re-rebuilding Time Quote

Seems likely imo. It also seems like a mistake to be choosing Taj over Gorgui as Gorgui is pretty good and irreplaceable in the long term as we will never have cap space ever again as long as Butler is on the roster.

CJ Miles is off the board for us.

Yeah I think Gorgui will be out of here. he's actually on a decent contract and his fit is clunky on this roster. Maybe not in the offseason, but I wouldn't be surprised if we shipped him at the deadline.
