I think Ibaka might be on the downside of his career. Millsap does more and his game seems more sustainable.

yeah, Griffin would be cool!

Why would we want Millsap for the seasons that he turns 32-35 given how big of a deal he's going to get? I mean, he's really good, and we'd be super frisky this year, but we're still at best even money to win a playoff series with him and then we lose so much flexibility. Getting Butler was amazing, the next few decisions are crucial. Iguodala would be worse, he turns 34 next season and is already having injury issues.

Jamychal Green might be up your alley. He's a young, athletic PF who can play. He's an RFA, so we're at the mercy of Memphis if we make him an offer though.

Butler was 7th on RPM (in the NBA last season). We traded him for the 388th and 399th on RPM.

WINNERS

Minnesota Timberwolves

The Wolves sent 2016 first-round pick Kris Dunn, shooting guard Zach LaVine and the No. 7 pick to Chicago for Butler and the No. 16 pick. Given rumored asking prices and Butler’s status as an All-Star with two years left on his contract, this is a steal for Minnesota. Butler, a two-way destroyer, joins his old coach, Tom Thibodeau, and joins a core of Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins that should rank among the best in the league in two years, if not right now. To reel in the final piece of that core, all the Wolves had to do was move down nine spots and relinquish a decent two-guard coming off an ACL tear, and a second-year point guard who really struggled as a rookie. This trade is an A+.

Underscoring that A+: Minnesota used the No. 16 pick to take Creighton big man Justin Patton, while Chicago used No. 7 on Arizona big Lauri Markkanen. The gap between those two players in no way makes up for the gap between Butler and the players the Wolves used to get him.

I will miss PEK.

I know we needed to get him off the books and that will help the team, but this guy was a beast when he was healthy, and he is a great character too.
Sucks about PEK, was legitimately one of the most fun things about the Wolves for a while. Nothing like watching a big man be the biggest man on the court and just tear people apart. He'll be missed for sure.

Buddy asked me on this, LMA and Towns would be pretty sick, but that's hoping that Towns is the stalwart defender we all hope him to be, because LMA won't. Still would have been a great addition though.

Highway robbery. I love Lavine, but to ONLY give up Lavine and #7(I think Dunn sucks), this is an amazing trade and he's locked in for a while. Haven't seen a deal like this for a while.

Don't disagree with this at all. A lot of Lavine's value with this team was his ability to be not so ball dominant. I'm not in love with the fit either since Butler/Wiggins aren't great shooters but having a guy like Butler basically whoop Wiggins' ass for the next 3 years is nothing but a good thing. Wiggins upside athletically is a better Kawhi and Butler. It's not going to happen, but having Prime Butler there to compete with him on a night to night basis puts wiggins in a great spot for his future. The nice part about butler though is that when Rubio does sit, we're not just a complete **** show offensively and now have a guy that can somewhat carry the load without him.

Cliffs: Fit isn't great, where's the shooting...but the team improved immensely with this trade.

I don't want either. No need to sacrifice flexibility at this point. Millsap is awesome but yeah, unless we can get him for another ridiculous Millsap deal...no thank you. Depth is important of course, but this would kind of lock us in on what our team is the next 2-3 years, which I don't think is ideal with how ridiculously good GS is.

Also, Hi guys .

yeah, i mean, we've been through some ****. Ricky's ACL, knuckle pushups, most under-achieving team ever, star demanding out, Pek career ending injury, coach/GM dying of cancer. We've been a pretty active and supportive community. Congrats everybody.

Someone suggested we might have enough cap space to sign Reddick AND Green.....

JJ Redick will probably be playing for free next year after that playoff performance.

This might sound a little Paul Allenish on the Vikings, but with the addition of Butler, if the wolves can get 2 solid vets to give them 25 minutes ish a game, I think they should get 50+ wins this year and be pushing for a top 4 seed.

I think that is a reasonable take.

Wow awesome.

Apparently the Bulls watched about zero minutes of Dunn last year after almost trading for him in the 2016 draft.

When they watched wolves tape they obviously watched Zach on offense and Dunn on defense

In thinking this whole thing through, after what happened last off season (not overspending on free agents) and after stealing Butler last night, I completely trust whatever Thibs does to fill out the rest of the roster.

Now I'm just going to enjoy the rest of the off season and am looking forward to watching this team play.

They need some bench shooting and another big that can play defensively. if they do that 4-6 is reasonable, barring some crazy shifts in the NBA scenery from now to the regular season.

We currently only have two wings on the roster and only 9 players likely to be under contract. J Hill is a team option that I assume we will decline. I'm assuming we do not want Shabazz, Caspi or Payne (shuddering on that one), who are FAs. I would take Rush back if he isnt too expensive.

Korver is a UFA and likely would not break the bank.

I like Ingles and Green, but they are both RFAs, so those guys are risky to make offers to.

PJ Tucker is an interesting UFA who reportedly has shown interest in us since we traded for Butler. He wouldnt break the bank.

Hoping Thibs embraces going small and gets a 2 like Green or Redick. The projected starting lineup- Rubio-Wiggins-Butler-Dieng-Towns- is sweet but it severely lacks shooting. Butler & Wiggins are both capable wing defenders who can guard multiple positions, they should play a ton of minutes together with Towns or Dieng as the only big. Neither is a good enough shooter to be a 2.
