I thought Lavine, Bazz, and Gorgui were horrible in the 2nd half.

LaVine has played 109 minutes, posting a 16.0 PER on .532 TS% rocking an outstanding 38.9 AST% with the second team. He hasn't cut his TOs at all, which isn't surprising or good, it sits at 21.0%, nearly identical to last year.

Given that he's 20 and playing out of position, maybe let's just relax? I will say though, he is not a smart defender. He's out of position a ton, hopefully they can work with him on that. He has the length and quickness.

My eyeball test agrees. Numbers don't tell the whole story.

Bazz had seemingly good numbers, but he threw three horrible passes that led to only two turnovers and looked completely overwhelmed by Atlanta's aggressive defense.

The bold part is what really bothers me. He just isn't a PG, and that's where he plays seemingly 95% of the time.

I'm super-duper high on Zach. If he didn't play on the same team as Wiggins and Towns he'd get a lot more love.

He's just not a point guard and you've got to accept that he's not the one putting himself in at point. I think Sam is crushing and i don't necessarily think he think Zach is a PG, just it's the best way to get everyone on the court.

Andrew Wiggins and Karl-Anthony Towns are making the Timberwolves relevant faster than anyone expected

"That sterling mark is buoyed by a starting unit that’s given up just 77 points per 100 possessions in 74 minutes of action. Wiggins and Towns are a key part of that group, but Ricky Rubio is a strong defensive point guard, while cagey veterans Garnett and Tayshaun Prince are still solid on that end. When you replace Garnett with Nemanja Bjelica, that lineup’s defensive rating is a minuscule 65 points per 100 possessions in 34 minutes."
Small sample size, but holy ****, that is awesome.

Sam is to blame for playing Lavine out of position. Playing a developing young player out of position 95% of the time is not the best way to develop him. This hurts the team and it does nothing to help the player.

exactly. With the Wolves we have 3 known young commodities and a bunch of question marks. Towns/Wiggins/Rubio are all progressing nicely and have a skillset that looks polished or is on the way up.

Then you have guys like BAZZ, Lavine, Dieng, who on some nights look like the best player on the court and on others are awful.

Lavine wasn't good in the second half, but as sam said he didn't really play much in the second half either. Some of that was his own doing and some of that was the refs blatantly swallowing the whistle allowing our guards to get mugged for the last 1.5 quarters. When they switched to Andre Miller over Lavine the outcome was no better(and Miller looked even worse than Lavine imo).

I don't think Lavine has played enough to where we can definitively say he shouldn't play PG. Is he bad at it? yes absolutely, but last night he played well for most of the game...and good enough to where I think he can be a good point guard. he has a lot of work to do but I feel like Mitchell is doing a great job of putting him in good situations to make plays.

If he was floundering the entire time I'd agree but he keeps posting good quarters and halfs to a point where you have to let him work through the downs. Maybe he will hit a ceiling and he is who he is at PG and you move on, but he's 20 and I don't think any of us know that yet.

Zach looks so ****ing good when he plays with Rubio. It's just incredibly clear that it's a better role for him.

Payne is so ****ing terrible. If he dribbles at any point he should immediately be yanked from the game.

I'll take a wild guess this was posted right after he got that rebound and for some reason tried to dribble up the floor.

Lol, yep. Then about a minute later he gets the ball on the 3pt line and tries to make shake someone and immediately travels.

-Payne was quite good.
-Tyus sucks
-Dre sucks
-Zach is much better than those guys. Hence Zach PG.
-Rudez sucks

Zach +13 in 36 minutes. Tyus -23 in 12 minutes..
