It looks like its either Adleman or Nelson: http://www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/129537318.html

Nelson would be an improvement over what we had before, but he will probably burn out quickly and we will hate him within 2 - 3 years.

Adleman wants 5 years 25 mil+. Flip got 5 mil/year during the end of his tenure here.

I hope Glen makes the right decision here.

.................if a new coach is named shortly, that very well could mean a full season is near.
Lets hope!

That says the wolves are near a deal with Adelman

and this says they begin negotiating with him:

Just give him what he wants for crying out loud. Make him happy.

Adelman on the Wolves! Frazier with the Vikes! Kill leading the Gophers! Could it be that Minnesota sports teams have solid, competent coaches?

YESSSSS!

Glad Glen Taylor was willing to spend the $$$ to bring in the best coach available.

If this is true, Adelman has always disliked Kahn and Taylor was the one who convinced Adelman to take the job. Makes sense imo.

Thanks Glen!!

This says pretty much the opposite that Woj said in the article I linked in post 732.

Either way, Adelman will be our coach and the Wolves will be a much better team to watch..... whenever they start playing again.

Rick Adelman makes Minnesota matter again

"Folks, Rick Adelman was fully prepared to retire here (in Portland). He wasn't seeking any jobs. He was getting ready to spend more time playing with the grandkids. But I promise you he came back to coach in Minnesota for one reason:

He thinks he can win there.

I got two emails from the Wolves yesterday:

The first one was an invitation to the press conference to introduce Adelman

The second one was to announce the cancellation of some preseason games due to the lockout

Good stuff - hopefully they can come up with a new CBA so we can see the Wolves play soon!!

The Lynx don't even seem like a MN team. They show up big too often.

Wolves hire a player personnel guy who uses advanced stats - Adleman's son:
http://www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/132792338.html

Hopefully this means Kahn's job is just doing contracts.

Hopefully this means Kahn's job is just doing radio shows where he talks about the players' drug usage.

lol

For franchise appearance/credibility, Kahn should never speak in public again. For entertainment of the sports media and general public, Kahn speaking to reporters is pretty funny.

I thought they were close to a deal. Now - who knows. The owners say they're going to lower their offer now because of the cancelled games. **** these people.

Just goes to show that being rich is like 99.9% luck. The morons don't even understand sunk costs.

Lol, the owners for sure understand sunk costs. They have said all along they're going to "have to lower their offer once games get canceled," so now they're following through - it's just a negotiating tactic.

The players are really being more stupid though imo. I'm not sure who is really running their show but they're all losing a huge % of their career earnings in a situation where they don't have as much leverage (e.g. they can't out-wait ownership).

The owners are also being stupid but it has more to do with tarnishing the brand - imo they're going to come out better financially in terms of the CBA by applying these tactics, but they're damaging the perceived and future value of their product.
