I know, but its more fun that we are the team that he plays for. I'm sticking with what I said.

I'm pretty sure the Wolves have talked to Philly multiple times about Iggy.

yeah, the asking price seems plenty reasonable, but KAHN! says he doesn't like Iggy's contract. That's pretty stupid when you consider he's an elite defender and a great ball handler/playmaker for a wing. Batum will be more overpaid than Iggy this coming season. Most of the Wolves roster last year was more overpaid than Iggy.

KAAAAHHHN!!

Rumor last season was M Webster + something else (maybe Wes, if so, omg).

This year it was maybe DW and some expiring contracts I think.

Stick a fork in the S & T: Nicolas Batum gets $46 million offer

So by exactly what time do the Blazers have to match the offer sheet?

Alright, luckily the sign and trade is dead. Now we just need a Portland match here.

I'm pretty sure they'll match, but we're in good shape either way imo. Batum would be a better player for the Wolves than he was for Portland, and we hold PEK's Bird rights. As long as we don't lose out on our plan B guys because they get sick of waiting on us, this is all good. Portland is stuck with a slightly above avg. wing, LMA, basically nothing else of value, and not much room under the cap. We definitely hurt a division rival with this deal.

The best thing about this off-season is it appears that Team Adelman (TA) is who is pulling all the strings. KAHN! is just the salary cap guy. TA wanted no more Darko, Webster, Beasley or AR and all of them - all KAHN! guys - are gone. TA does not want Wes to sniff the floor anymore, and several of our moves so far have been for players who will replace his minutes. Hopefully Wes will be gone soon as well. All these guys we've targeted are because of TA - Shved, Batum, Bud, Steamer, Hill, C Lee, Roy - these are not KAHN! guys. They are TA guys.

How do we know TA is pulling the strings? Is this based on the moves made so far or inside info?

I think the moves this offseason have been terrible. If Roy works out obviously this changes.

JayTeeMe - what are realistic better moves?

Tbh, I'd agree just on glancing but I'm not sure it was realistic to expect too much more. I still feel that this is a pretty bad FA class for hat the Wolves need.

This is an educated guess based on the things that are happening, things I heard Adelman say, and on some things I've heard at Canis. I am not 100% sure, but I'd be shocked if these are all Kahn's ideas.

I disagree. I think the Roy move is the shakiest, but I'm hoping it turns out well. McGrady would have been a safer, lower cost move for that type of player. Everything else is upgrading positions that we were terrible at, to average to (likely) above average production. With the big three, this is what we need imo. The offseason is far from over, but I am excited to see what the team will look like this season.

I heard Rubio is ahead of schedule with his rehab. His health might be the biggest key to how well we do this year.

The Wolves were willing to give up as much as three first-round picks in a Batum three-team deal, but they also wanted Portland to take back center Darko Milicic. The Wolves decided to use the amnesty clause on Milicic after those particular talks with Portland failed. Never did the Wolves offer three first-round picks for Batum straight up.

I believe that stuff is reputable. Doogie does excellent work imo.

We should have amnestied Darko immediately on July 2. Taylor ****ed things up by trying to save money by trading Darko rather than just amnestying him in the first place. We could have had this whole process with Batum over with several days ago. Instead we lost out on any chance at Scola (maybe not a huge deal, but he could have been a nice player for us) and make everyone else wait. Hopefully we don't lose out on anyone else because of Taylor's cheapness.

lol. money has value. investigating potentially saving $11m does not make you cheap.

I know. But it wasnt $11 mil. And I wouldnt complain if there weren't a lot of other things he's done over the years that ****ed things up because he's cheap.

Batum is young/athletic/tall/long guy who is known for his solid defense, has a silky jumper and wants to get to the hoop more and stop standing in the corner all game how POR used him. I can't see why any twolves fan wouldn't want us to get Batum. Have any of the Batum haters seen him play or are we just going off stats/sports center highlights?

The haters hate the contract imo. It doesn't seem properly valued. But I think the Wolves could do a lot worse and will be hard pressed to find a better fit/asset for that price. It's not like good wings are just falling from the sky all over atm.

I agree with what Yugo says, but I think Batum is a moot point anyway. Portland is going to match our offer imo.

This is what I've been saying all along, . So I will agree.

I'm most interested in other options although few ppl have been coming up with any realistic ones.

Hopefully mid-season or at the end of next season there will be a way to get a high caliber player who is a 2 or 3. Like someone along the lines of Pek (in comparison), it's unreasonable to hope for another Love or Rubio.

Also, I'm not completely sold that Pek is as good as he seems to be (i.e. I think he is v good but mistrust my judgement in this). This next year completely sans-Darko should be helpful to figure it out. Anyone who tries hard compared to Darko probably seems like a huge upgrade.

Pek took over games last year, I really don't know how you could watch him, see the numbers, read the anecdotal stuff and NOT think he's super high caliber.

My main concern is his interior help defense. Not sure anyone on the Wolves have very good help D except Rubio....but I dno, they will actually get to run Adelman's system this year and hopefully can practice proper defense. It was already way better under Adelman than Dumbis.

Realistic imo:

Rubio/Ridnour/Barea/Shved
Roy/(R Brewer or C Lee)/Shved/Budinger
Budinger/Caged Lion/(R Brewer or C Lee)
Love/Caged Lion/Cunningham
Pek/Stiemsma

yeah, PEK isnt a long, shot blocker. That's something I can live with. PEK plays man defense very well though. No quality opponent in the NBA can move him for position. Watching Cousins get manhandled by PEK was one of the funnest parts of last season. Hibbert unsuccessfully tried several times to move PEK by sticking his shoulder into him before giving up. Every C opponent had trouble with PEK.
