Minnesota Timberwolves- Re-re-rebuilding Time Minnesota Timberwolves- Re-re-rebuilding Time

This team is completely different than what we have had here for a long time. We got rid of all the dead weight players and contracts and added several long, athletic players who can shoot and defend.

I think this team is going to be fun to watch - finally.

I was at the first two games. The Sacramento game was disappointing, because I think we're better than them, and we outplayed them for most of the game. We had a very bad stretch at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half that killed us.

Tonight's game against Milwaukee was a lot of fun. Love was an animal on the boards, and he has become a great shooter too. As a whole, the team defense was very good and we did alright on offense as well.

Hopefully there are some other Wolves fans here. Anyone else watch the games?

31/31/5!!! Love is a beast on the boards. That was the first 30/30 game since Moses Malone in 1982!

Awesome game tonight - I was there.

Beasley is unstopable one on one. He can get his shot off whenever he wants against whoever he wants. Part of what makes him so hard to defend - he shoots with his arms fully extended and has long arms. He also has a quick release. He can basically get his jump shot off vs anyone pretty easily. Its going to be really fun to watch him if he can play like has with some consistency.

If we ever get Webster, Ridnour & Flynn all healthy, this team will be pretty good.

I hope Pekovic isnt hurt too bad.

My nba 2k11 franchise is the t-wolves. Get rid of love, he has a+ potential but he never reaches it.

Love's potential is to be a great rebounder, maybe best in the league, good shooter with range when left open, and a very good passing power forward. He isn't good at defense or creating his own shot, and he probably never will be very good at either one.

He is what he is, a great complimentary player if/when surrounded by other good players.

Beasley on the other hand has the potential to be a great scorer - a go to type guy who can get you baskets whenever you need them. He has more scoring potential than KG ever did. I would love to see him live up to his full potential.

Minnesota Timberwolves - Where's the Love?

It's too bad Memphis signed Rudy Gay before we could get to talk to him. He and Kevin would have made quite the combo.

"And Gay-Love is ruling Target Center tonight!"

Gay's a good player, & that would have been funny, but he got overpaid by a lot and I like the Wolves at the 3 & 4 once they get Webster back. Gay might have been an upgrade, but for the amount of cap space he would have eaten up, it wouldnt have been worth it imo.

Is it just me or does Beasley play like a 2 in a 3.5's body? He seems way to athletic and skilled to be a 4.

Best hand shake ever

Investigative Report - The Awkward Handshake lol

There are people on a Wolves blog I read saying Beasley is really a 4. I dont get it. He looks like a super talented, long 3 to me. He is the best offensive player in Wolves history imo. The kid is going to be a star. When he wants to score, no one can stop him 1 on 1. He probably wont be a better all around player than KG, but KG never had the kind of scoring ability that Beasley has, and he's only 21.

Beasley's game winner

Notice how high he elevates over Gomes. Gomes had no chance.

Also notice what Blake Griffin is doing during the play - he's mugging Love in an attempt to keep Love from getting a rebound, lol.

update on my t-wolves nba season:

you guys will finally make the finals in 2025 (sorry). You will have the best player in the league at PG, and 2 good young PF/C, one of which is 7'3 and is averaging 6 blocks/game in the playoffs (5 min quarters). A solid vet sg and a super talented young sf round out the starting 5, with a white pg as the 6th man. Playing the knicks in the finals, will keep you updated.

Sick, tyty for the update.

The Wolves are definitely more fun this year (I got to go to the first win vs Milwaukee) but jfc we cannot possibly win games when Darko/Telfair/Brewer get so many minutes. Also I can't believe there's a TWolves thread lol.

Darko was awesome tonight. He pwned Gasol at both ends of the floor. This was probably the best game of his career - 23 pts (10/18, 3/3), 16 rebounds, 2 steals, 5 assists, 6 blocks and a ****-ton of additional shots affected that didnt get credit for blocks. If he could play at close to that level every game, he'd be an all star.

Bassy is ok as long as he doesnt shoot I know, you kind of need him to shoot when no one on the other team is within 15' of him.

I'll be glad when Ridnour is 100%.

When Rubio comes over, we'll be solid at PG.

I'm not sure if Flynn will help or not once he's healthy. He has some offensive skills, but they dont necessarily include NBA caliber PG passing, and he looks lost when he is playing defense. Actually, I'm not even sure if he does play defense at all

Brewer is terrible. He cant shoot at all, has no handle, and is seemingly always leaving his man wide open. His man is usually a very good outside shooter, so that usually does not end well. He does hustle and get a lot of steals, but at the expense of playing sloppy defense most of the time.

I cant wait until Webster is 100% healthy. He was probably our best player in the preseason. Having him play all of Brewer's minutes plus a few from some other people will make the team a lot better.

Wes Johnson is already a defensive stud. He played Kobe about as well as anyone I've ever seen. He does not bite on fakes and is longer and stronger than Kobe. I've heard that one reason we chose him over Cousins was because Cousins is a lazy ass and Wes is a very hard worker. Guys like Cousins get by on talent alone and never really blossom in the NBA. A guy like Wes has a chance to be really good.

Love was terrible tonight. The Lakers obviously were trying to keep him off the boards, but he needs to do better than he did tonight anyway - 0 points, 7 rebounds.

When Barnes shoots 5/5 from 3 and 7/7 overall, I dont think the Lakers will lose to any team in the NBA.

The refs were brutally bad tonight. Not that it mattered as far as who won, but cripes, there were some really bad calls against the Wolves when they were down by ~20 points. Kobe gets the superstar treatment way too much imo.

Great poast by cha. I still can't believe Darko is only 25. Durant is being too kind as always, but 17/9/4/4 on 59% over the past four is a really nice start. I think Rasheed also had a lot of great things to say about him in Detroit.

that this thread exists, btw.

Thanks

Darko might have been even better vs OK than vs the Lakers, even though his #s dont say so. He absolutely took over the game during the time the Wolves went from 18 down to 6 up late in the game. That behind the head pass was ridiculous. The jab step left/finger roll with the right hand was a thing of beauty.

I think we're just starting to see what he's capable of. I'm expecting more of this to happen more often now. I think that Rambis & his staff knew what it what take to handle Darko to get some production out of him. All the other places Darko has been, the teams really didnt put any effort into trying to develop his talents, which he obviously has a lot of.

The guy is very quick and coordinated for someone his size (~7', 275), has great instinct & a high basketball IQ, is a great passer for a center and plays excellent defense. If he can continue to shoot with confidence/authority like he has recently, he will be an all star within two years imo.

This is becoming a fun team to watch. The wins dont matter so much right now because we're nowhere near ready to contend, but its going to be a lot of fun when everyone is healthy and starts to develop some chemistry with each other.

Yeah, this team is built around having Rubio here. I hope the lockout doesnt prevent it from happening next season. I think we will be competing for the playoffs soon after he arrives.

You didnt see Rubio in the world championships last summer did you? Or hear the comments about him from the American players?

He has game - right now. He can defend top flight NBA PGs. He has as good a handle as anyone. He sees things happen before anyone else on the court does, which leads to a lot of amazing passes. He does need to work on his outside shooting, but he's only 19, so I think that's something that will improve. Rubio will be an amazing NBA player.

Comparing him to Flynn is lol.

no i have never seen him play. but i see that he averages like 6ppg with a bad shooting% in europe. and i've seen his interviews.

i'm not saying he's not a talent - i just don't like him. if he plays for the wolves though and plays well i will probably change my mind.
