Wiggins is the perfect example of someone that you should wait to see what he gets offered in RFA and then decide to match or not.

There was enough evidence that he wasn't likely to be a star and if the thought was Thibs coming in will make him worth the max by getting him to play defense then there was no reason not to wait to see if that would actually happen.

Like you say though teams are dumb.

Wiggins was miles better when he was 21. He had five 40-point games in his age 21 season. All he could do was volume score but still, at least that was something. Now he actually sucks. Not like Harrison Barnes 'decent player but overpaid on a max' sucks but like sucks sucks.

Yeah, he absolutely sucks. He's awful both offensively and defensively. He doesnt care either. Its obvious. He needs to be benched. I doubt we could unload his contract in a trade to anyone anymore. I think his contract is probably the worst in NBA history.

I was at the Bulls/Wolves game where Wiggins went 0-12. He was an embarrassment on the court and didn't deserve to even be on the bench. He shows no effort and misses everything. Funny watching KAT completely ignore him on an offensive possession when he was wide open. Isn't there some kind of contract rule where you can cut a player with a big contract? Or did they get rid of that?

Its funny how easily stats change this early in the season .

I was looking at the RPM numbers the other day and Wiggins was -0.75 or something , so a pretty good improvement for him .

Looking again today and he has dropped to -1.95 , so over a point in a couple of games

Would it be fair to say, that given his contract and production, Andrew Wiggins might be the least valuable asset (as a player) in the nba?

That's pretty much what I was saying when I said he has the worst contract in NBA history.

I read some stuff last night that gives me a glimmer of hope that we can unload his sorry ass to Washington. That team is currently a grease fire. Beal wants to be traded and Porter is probably available. The author suggested we could offer Wiggins and a #1 for Porter or Wiggins and two #1s for Beal. There were some more complicated deals he suggested as well. Either of those first two sound fantastic. I wonder if we are talking to them right now.

The only contracts that are in his galaxy are Wall's and Love's IMO. Wall has like $47M player option in 2023, I think.

The difference with both Love and Wall is that both are productive players, even if they are overpaid. Wiggins is just bad.

A couple comments from Canis posters:

Quote:
Nice little anecdote here from a season ticket holder that posts on another board - thought I would share it

A friend of mine was at Red Cow last night after the game. Towns and RoCo were there having dinner. My friend boldly went up to them to say hi. He said they were both great to him. They agreed to pose with him and his girlfriend for a couple photos (which he sent me) and they took the time to talk for a while. Among other things KAT told him he just bought a new house in Medina.

The bond between RoCo and Towns is already apparent in games and on the bench. Apparently, it extends beyond the basketball court. I read that they were friends before RoCo came here.

This is the second time in recent weeks someone I know has run into KAT. And they both commented on how approachable and personable he was with them.

Not a big deal, but thought I’d share it with the group. I get more out of rooting for players I also like. I’m really liking this post-Butler team.

I have another anecdote from a friend involving a run in with Jimmy B. at Murrays

but I’m frankly reluctant to post it. Let’s just say the experience is the polar opposite of what was conveyed above.
What a fantastic trade we made.

Didn't get to see any of the game because of the snow. I'll just assume Taj and Teague sucked and that's why we lost.

yeah, pretty much.

Wiggins made some 3s and bad shots and he did more other stuff than usual (moving a bit more than usual on D and attempting to get some rebounds), but he generally sucked too, taking lots of bad shots and making bad decisions, being late to react on D, etc.

We didnt play team D nearly as well as we did against SA.

This team is fun to watch and it has a chance to be very good.

9-3 since "General Soreness" "you cant win without me" was traded. I think I saw a stat that we are 2nd in the NBA over this time period in net +/- rating. We have destroyed the last two opponents late in the game with stifling defense.

The coach could not get players like Towns and Wiggins to play defense effectively until we made this trade. I heard that since Covington got here, he has talked Thibs into changing the defense up so that we do a lot more switching. This obviously works a lot better than what we were doing before.

How about Covington for player/coach? Taylor might like the idea since it would save him money. I'm only half kidding.

FIRE THIBS!!

Saric needs to be playing more. 22 mins a game is not enough. #firethibs.

When he and Towns are both on the floor at the same time, you can see why they should be playing a lot more together. Saric is great at spacing, which opens everything up for Towns. Towns could be an MVP candidate soon if we had the right coach.

Jeff Teague when asked about the increased switching: "Welcome to the modern NBA"

lol.

I hate watching Teague play lately because he is so indecisive all the time, killing the shot clock, passing on wide open 3s and dribbling into the teeth of the defense with no plan, but I love how he has made great negative comments about the coach like this.

Comment on Canis after last nights loss at GS:
Quote:
....When KAT is the lead shot taker in games, the Wolves are 10-3. When D Rose takes more shots than Towns, the Wolves are 2-7, including tonight. (I am excluding the games where Rose was hurt or played just a few minutes)
Rose sucks. FIRE THIBS!

I agree with Fire Thibs, You can not say Rose has sucked this year though. Should Towns be taking more shots in every game than Derrick Rose takes, of course. Does Derrick Rose sometimes get to many minutes in a game? Yes. But, I dont think either of those are Rose's fault. Overall, Rose has had a very good year.

Yeah, I overstated that. He has been a slightly positive contributor overall so far this season. Offensively, he has been mostly good, but he does take too many bad shots and he plays way more minutes than he should. His defense sucks and he hurts us badly on that end of the floor, especially when we are playing a team like GS.
