No, i don't think there's any moves that have worked out. I guess Derrick Rose for the minimum was pretty good. These are the guys Thibs has given non-minimum contracts to. I would argue that every single one of these guys became a negative contract within a couple of months.

Jordan Hill
Cole Aldrich
Gorgui Dieng
Jeff Teague
Taj Gibson
Jamal Crawford
Andrew Wiggins

I guess the Taj one has been ok, but otherwise I agree.

We badly overpaid for Taj, but he has been a good player. We missed out on CJ Miles because we paid Taj and Teague so much.

Gorgui is a good player, but he is overpaid and under-used. At the time of Gorgui's deal, it looked ok. The market changed after that.

Rose sucks.

For some reason I thought Taj was like 2/20, what was the deal?

Gotcha. I think that’s not bad so far, but I guess I’m assuming a similar year to last year, which may be naive of me.

The stuff I am hearing about Taj's deal is that he probably would not have gotten more than $8-9m/year from any other team.

This model projects us to finish 4th in the WC next season: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...#gid=923133725

We've actually had a better off season so far than any other WC playoff team other than GS.

Its only summer league, but it sounds like both of our rookies can play. Okogie plays super hard all the time and is a legit defender. Bates-Diop was a steal. Our backup wings might be significantly upgraded from last season.

Taj is a MLE caliber player, no more. He's also a terrible fit next to Towns.

This might be a pretty good signing for us: https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/ba...l-with-wolves/

The guy has been working on his game in Europe and has averaged 44.0% on 3.5 3 point attempts per game over there. He's 6'7" tall.

Jimmy maybe firing shots at Towns/Wiggins on social media again. He's either a troll that likes to make Wolves fans nervous or is a 5th degree blackbelt in passive-aggression.

What type of package would you be looking for if you moved Jimmy?

Or would you rather just hold onto him and YOLO it up?

In reality unless Thibs is offered another major star in return he can't really deal him , as it is the only good thing he has done on the personnel side of things and dealing him pretty much torpedoes the play off hopes.

He has to hope he stays and signs a deal that probably turns into a bad contract by the end of it.

Correct. I could come up with interesting Jimmy packages but I won't waste my time as Thibs absolutely cannot trade him.

We signed him for two years guaranteed iirc. We had some competition, but he chose us for whatever reason.

Butler, ugh. Every team in the league could use him. Hopefully if he isnt going to stay with us beyond this season, there will be a bidding war for him. If he leaves without us getting a huge return, we are screwed going forward, especially with Wigg's contract.

Thibs had Luol Deng in for a meeting Sunday. Hot pursuit.

Deng on a min seems fine. Maybe even good. We only have min contracts to offer so whatever. At least he plays the right-ish position if he can still play.

Maybe this will change once the season starts, but I’ve rooted for this team since the Doug West/Tony Campbell days and I totally dgaf right now.

It’s a bummer.

I agree. If he has nothing left, he didnt cost much. He was a great player a few years ago. Hopefully the rest he got last year was good for him. If it wasnt, at least he didnt cost much.

yeah, there were times last season, lots of times, when they were hard to watch. And yet they won 47 games and were within a couple games of the 3rd seed in the WC. They have potential to get something around the 3rd seed again this season if more goes right for them than last season. They also have potential to implode in an ugly way. I'm not holding my breath at this point, but I do want to see what happens.

I have legit no interest in watching them right now and am not really all that excited for the season to start.

There was a game in Portland where if we would have won that game we would have ended up as the 3 seed. Assuming all other games go the same way.

Offense was like 4th(?) in the NBA, but it wasn't fun to watch IMO.
