Nobody even put a line on this game, THAT'S how big the upset was.

Can't wait for this season, gonna be a fun home slate.
Certainly a fun start!

So, scUM fans, don't you honestly feel relieved to not be going into the tOSU game undefeated with heartbreak waiting on the other side? As an Illinois fan I will tell you that there can be joy in low expectations!

there wasn't a line...

my friend and i had the pleasure of being at a sports bar wearing michigan jerseys amongst a sea of ohio state fans ([censored] big ten network, how are you going to not have either osu or mich on tv??)...

i'm lucky i got out of there w/o going to jail..

we ended up having a discussion about the worse loss...this one, or last year against osu..and in THAT bad loss, we were undefeated, playing for a spot in the title game, and we BOTH said this one..

and the way it ended killed me. when hart ran the 60 yarder in, i told everyone in the bar to go home, and then the d just let a DIVISION 1-AA team drive straight down the field, AT HOME, with a minute left..

THEN, mario catches the bomb, and i'm gravy again.

THEN, a 2nd kick in 2 minutes gets blocked...

not a good day for the maize and blue nation...i'm going to the bar again in a bit, and i'll be wearing full gear, looking for a fight..

Meh not defending anyone, but being a gator alumni im pretty sure college football (at least the bigger schools) have the most passionate fans in sports (except crazied european soccer fans maybe). so it tends to bring out the best and worst in people, especially after a big loss. i remember my freshman year (spurrier's last year at UF) we lost to tennessse last regular game of the season to rob us of a shot at the SEC and national championship game and I was depressed for a few days afterwards lol.

I love when people get into alcohol induced fights about sports. Trip report please. I'll especially be interested to hear how an App State fan BLOCKED YOUR KICK to the nuts and then proceeded to kick your ass.

Lines on these games are hard to find but I did find some. I came across -27.5 and -25.5, which for a game like this, is not actually that large. To put it in perspective, USC was favored by about 49 today, while OU and PSU were favored by about 40.

So for a I-AA team going on the road to face the #5 team in the country...yeah, not that large of a line. App State is pretty good.

-27.5? Wow. Given the kind of offense Michigan runs and Lloyd Carr's aversion to running up scores, I would've said before the game that taking App St. +27.5 would've been free money.

Just caught the highlights. Man, whatta game, wish I'd seen it. Agreed with those who say App would beat plenty of other 1-A teams; like, oh, say Utah & Utah St for starters.

I got a little lol at how the App coach was still wearing his headset while being interviewed on the field after. Most "big-time" programs have someone in charge of the coach's headset whom he gives it to as soon as the game ends...

i saw this game but left with 3 minutes left thinking michigan pulled it out. fortunately i picked up a detroit radio station from 150 miles away and listened to the rest of it.

LMAO!!!!!!!!

huge upset but then again just how big is it?

Appalachia state just won back to back championships, this team is not chopped liver.

there has to be bigger upsets out there. anyone think of any?

Way to ruin our matchup with you next week Michigan. YOU SUCK. Great now if Michigan comes out all fired up and manages to beat my Ducks then I will be a fan of a team who lost to a team who lost to a 1-AA team (I refuse to use the new subdivision moniker from the NCAA)
