Beating the Buckeyes once over the next three years (Pryor's stay) will surpass my expectations.

Was there. My thoughts:

1. WTF happened to Donovan Warren today? He got used repeatedly, although a few times it may have been the safety's fault.

2. We have some truly awful tacklers, starting with Morgan Trent. Seriously, he is just terrible- sort of kind of leaning your shoulder towards the ball carrier is not good tackling Morgan!

3. Either Odoms runs the wrong route alot or Threet is way inaccurate (or both). Good news: he's way open alot. Bad news: Threet never hits him.

4. O-Line was TERRIBLE. I'm forgetting our Center's name right now but he is an embarrassment.

5. Juice is good. Like, really good.

Today reminded me that we are a very young team, and tbh, the Wisconsin win was probably a fluke. We simply can't rely on a heroic defensive effort every game.

The young team part certainly applies to the offense, and I am willing to accept a lot of mistakes there. However, the defense is filled with juniors and seniors. I don't understand how they can play this bad. I heard that Juice Williams set the all time Stadium total yardage record today. Sad

Tony Gibson widely considered to be the weak link in RRs staff for several years now (but RR and TG are buddies) = our secondary making fundamental errors over and over

I was actually more impressed with how far along Michigan is

the final score was not indicative of the game as things snowballed when Michigan got behind

Michigan has the tools in place to be a great offense really soon (maybe by next season-though Threet is still suspect)

The Illini offense has been very good all year (except for the snooze they took for half of the ULL game). The difference is that they didn't make the turnovers they did verse Mizzou and Penn St. Juice will never be the greatest passer, but he is a very good college QB for the system Zook/Locksley use. It started after the Michigan game last year. Look at the last 4 Illini games from last year and the 5 games this year. Illinois put up more yards and ypp on tOSU and SC than anyone last year (those were 2 of the top 3 defenses). This year, they embarrassed Mizzou, moved very well against what appears to be a top 10 defense in Penn St, and dominated Michigan. What I'm trying to say is that giving up that many points is not nearly as bad as it seems.

Michigan is coming around quicker than I thought

Our long streaks of non-losing seasons and bowl appearances are over. Not only does that hurt from the historical perspective, we lose out on the extra game and practices, which is very important for a young team.

Before the season started I thought the coaching staff deserved a free pass from criticism. We all knew there would be struggles and growing pains on offense. However, this is far worse than I even imagined. We looked like a high school team today. This was a very mediocre Toledo team that lost by 31 last week to Ball State. After Illinois destroyed us last week, they lose at home to Minnesota.

The offensive line just gets worse. Threet and Sheridan haven't made any progress. We can't even make a chip shot field goal when the game is on the line. Our D-line, even with the injury to Graham, should have dominated Toledo's O-line; that didn't happen. It's really sad when week after week Zoltan Mesko is probably our MVP.

It's really getting scary looking at the remaining schedule. We have the 2 guaranteed losses to OSU and PSU. The road games against an improving Minnesota team and Purdue will be very tough for us. The way we are playing now it's going to be difficult to beat MSU, even at home. Northwestern is playing great football, so that will be a tough game. Looks like 4-8 is about the best we can do, imo.

if next year's team is half as bad as this one, I'm worried that we're gonna start losing the recruiting war, too.

how far do we have to fall until we're another Nebraska and can't climb out? eek.

That's not going to happen. It takes more than a season for the o-line to learn the spread. We don't have a spread QB. Look at Juice Williams his freshman year. He didn't run a spread in high school. He completed 39% of his passes or something his first year in the spread at Illinois.

Threet and Sheridan will be forgotten the moment Forcier and Beaver step on campus in January.

I'll start worrying about losing the recruiting war when we're not winning it anymore. If anything, it's gotten better recently. The future's still very bright.

Losing to Toledo is unacceptable under any circumstances, though, obviously.
