Just further illustrates that the promotion of humans to hero status and worshipping institutions are not smart moves.

I get your point - but I think that when looking at Bo BITD most of us didn't elevte him to "Hero Status". We just felt like he was a good guy. A home town guy coaching at the wrong school. The relationship between the two HCs, and their families, simply added to it. Bo spoke at Woodys memorial service and was welcomed by the masses.

Now even though "worshipping institutions" might be a tad exagerated, the fact that many of us MIGHT falll into that category is illustrated by the shear popularity of the athletic products they put out. Mind you, there are MANY that fall into that category that don't follow sports at all. Schools are part of a communities fabric. All that said - when a person or "institution" falls from grace it effects all those that follow them.

The key is to accept the failures, admit how horrible things were, and address the issues involved. I believe um will do that because it is a quality institution. Others that have faced similar issues choose not to, and will live with that stigma forever.

Itís shameful. All of it. PSU, OSU and UM. They all turned a blind eye to systemic abuse. Hollow lip service doesnít clear the stains.

Don't forget about MSU! People need to fully understand how cutthroat the B1G East really is!

and there's plenty of B1G brown stains to go around

meanwhile Don James & UW got railroaded by the Pac (and then NCAA), because some booster allegedly paid a few players to water ski instead of work

The interesting thing about the 4 mentioned above is that 2 were coaches and 2 were team doctors that caused the mayhem. Also interesting is how the schools handled the information once the situations were uncovered. In todays age of the immediate social media news cycle we will see more and more abuses uncovered. Hopefully the new ones will handle them better that the obvious f-ups we have seen so far.

It sounds like a badly written screenplay. You tell your father you were molested and his response is to punch you in the chest and you go flying across the room. I mean come on. That just doesn't make sense. Of course "doesn't make sense" does not equal "didn't happen". I get that. But now the Bo part of the story transitions from "it was a different generation"/Bo was "out of touch", etc to Bo being basically the devil himself. And that could be true. Bo could be THIS evil. But if he was THAT evil to one of his kids then it's a safe bet he was that way to all of his kids. And if even one of his other kids weakly corroborates that bizarre story I will believe it no questions asked, but until then I'm gonna remain skeptical.
Doesn't seem that hard to believe. Old-timey tough guy football coach who thinks feelings are for sissies can't handle his son telling him something horrible happened (which Bo would probably think meant he failed as a father in protecting his son) and lashes out.

If one of his other kids even said something like, "I wasn't there, but my dad was a jerk, so anything's possible", then I would believe it. But if his other kids don't believe that story, then I'm not believing it either. BTW I watched the entire press conference. I found the testimony of Dan Kwiatkowski and Gilvanni Johnson extremely convincing. Besides that, same with Jon Vaughn, Jarrod Bunch and others. Very compelling. I believe them. But when it comes to Matt Schembechler, IDK man, my spidey sense is telling me not to trust that guy. When I read what he says or when I hear him talk my bullshit detector goes off.
