Sparties will be insufferable if they win this game.
You can really feel the PTSD here, and it's extremely misguided, and I'll admit I was guilty of it too:
Here's the reason we don't have to worry AT ALL about tomorrow. The Wisconsin game changed everything. We saw what this Michigan offense can look like when Shea is unleashed and incorporated into the run game. We saw what this Michigan team did to a solid Wisconsin team. IOW we have new and valuable information now. We now know this Michigan team is the real deal and by that I mean we are truly a complete team, and since I just used a cliche to describe a cliche I'll be more specific. We now have enough information to conclude that this team is better than 2006. With 'do everything' Shea, our offense is more potent than 2006, and our defense is right up there with that team and even if you disagree, the advantages of this multidimensional offense with Shea overcome the possible gap between those defenses. Our special teams are near flawless, and of course we have a better coaching staff than 2006. Great Michigan teams with historically great Michigan QBs don't lose to mediocre Michigan State teams.
You look at the history over the last 10 years and it's mostly been us with bad to mediocre teams with bad to mediocre QBs. Denard was a good QB, certainly good enough to sweep MSU over a four year period but he was always on bad to mediocre teams, and thank god he was fortunate enough to get 1 win vs Dantonio's 2nd worst team over that span. Forcier was pretty good in 2009 but that team sucked, and we damn near won. SP8 was a mediocre QB on a good michigan team and we won in 2016. The one year where we had an elite QB (Rudock) on a good team it took major ref riggage combined with the flukiest play of all time to sink our ship. But this team is much better than that 2015 version anyways, and that playoff bound MSU team was obviously much better than this modern mediocre version. Perhaps the only time I witnessed a great michigan team with a great QB lose to State was in 99. But again, that Michigan State team was not even close to mediocre. It was one of their strongest ever, and we still barely lost at their place.
Bottom line, in my storied, ethereal and geologically ephemeral life, a great Michigan team with a great michigan QB has NEVER lost to a mediocre MSU team. The last 10 years of struggle and devastation have NO BEARING on tomorrow. We haven't had this big of an edge since the John L Smith years. Expect a low stress easy victory tomorrow gentlemen. Stop with the PTSD poastings. The times have changed. I'm not gonna tell you Michigan is BACK!! cuz that's an understatement. The truth is we have rarely been this good throughout the entire history of this program. All the possible bad variance/crooked reffing in the world will not be able to save this rendition of Michigan State tomorrow. Michigan 34 MSU 13.
