Arizona outscored Cal 36-14 in the 4th quarter to win 49-45 (on a 45 yard hail mary)!

I just got back from a luau. We buried a giant pig under about six feet of flaming hot lava rocks. An appropriate way to honor the Brady era.

Just out of curiosity, how are people liking the radio broadcasts with Brandstatter and Dierdorf?

Since I was watching the game on TV I had that audio on and could not believe some of the commentary -- it was like the announcers had never seen Michigan play this season, or possibly ever. Stuff that was just blatantly inaccurate.

It was almost as bad as listening to Mike Mayock on NBC.

Also curious if anyone's desire for Chad Morris as a HC candidate took a hit after last night's LOL CLEMPSONing.

Dierdorf (I guess you can excuse him for being new) doesn't seem to get the pulse of the program. He rightfully expects production out of the 70s-90s but we know that's not gonna be the case for awhile.

Brandy is passionate, but behind on the action without a homey voice.

well let's get that right, firing hoke right now would be the dumbest thing we could do

also note that firing RR, something greear was massively in favor of, is the current dumbest thing we've done.

yeah hiring one of the best offensive innovators wasn't the problem. Wanting the dinosaur and sabotaging the program from within was.

I just watched the 6-second clip where mattison was telling hoke to go **** himself about 10 times.

Brady backed right the **** down.

well done, head coach.

Obviously Martin couldn't predict the future and factions influence. But in the AD, he had to feel the tribalism, risk in hiring a fiery outsider. That "coaching search" was a tire fire and he got a dude who couldn't even bring people together in his hometown.

Rich Rod with the big win last night.

A shame you guys (ie the Admin) couldn't find it in your hearts to support him. I still think he's a top 15ish (perhaps better) coach.

Hiring RR was a great move and idea, a real coup. I don't blame Martin one iota for not realizing the program and associated former players and the media were childish clowns who were so upset the AD didn't kowtow to Lloyd and let him hand-pick his successor they intentionally sank RR.

HAVING SAID THAT, and I count myself among the RR-backers who thought he deserved another year, he did plenty of stupid ****. First, he failed to get Casteel to follow him out of Morgantown to Ann Arbor. Lesson learned apparently, he smartly rectified that and got him to follow him to Arizona.

Then he actually hired a pretty decent defensive coordinator (Scott Schafer, now the head coach at Syrcause) and his merry-band of half-wit assistants he DID bring with him from Morgantown sank Schafer and tried to switch to the 3-3-5 in midseason in 2008. Then he ****ing hired GERG which was the biggest blunder of all.

Second, special teams were just as ****ed up under RR as they are under Hoke now. No one could kick a FG or field a punt cleanly, just an endless parade of special teams terribleness over the three years.

Lastly, his recruiting (aside from QB and slot receivers) was on the poor side, whiffed on tons of top talent at the last minute near Signing Day, and he thought our academic standards were truly optional, and brought in way too many academic and 'character-issue' question mark kids who never made it to campus or flamed out entirely. I think this is in basically unverifiable-but-factual territory, but an anecdote, RR got warned by a few people in the AD's NCAA compliance group there was no way Demar Dorsey would ever qualify and his pretend online summer high school would never fly and he went ahead and signed him anyway. Predictably, Dorsey doesn't qualify (here, or anywhere else for that matter) and then there's a gaping hole in the secondary.

Shame on the admin, I agree, but shame on RR for taking this job and then not understanding we adhere to like some bare-bones, minimalist academic standards, not letting good defensive coordinators like Schafer run their own show when RR's other defensive assistants he trusted who undermined the d-coordinator were terrible, etc. RR didn't do himself many favors in an unnecessarily difficult environment.
