Everyone in the Big 10 doesn't hate RRod. He hasn't been caught or even accused of cheating, either. Nobody warned Michigan not to hire Rodriguez. Comparing his situation to Sampson's is laughable.

pretty sure every big11ten school hates him and they all think he is unethical
at least that is the vibe from every forum I read

Okay we're talking about hate on Internet forums. That's a little different than a bunch of coaches sending letters to a school warning them about a potential hire.

eh, I like RRod but I think its pretty clear that Tiller and Tressel both strongly disllike him at this point. Not that we're anywhere near Sampson territory, but there is definitely some bad blood already.

Do you think other coaches like Tressel?

I don't think Tressel dislikes him at all. I think Tressel's "gentleman's agreement" bit wasn't a crack at Rodriguez. I think he was just making light of the whole situation by making a joke directed at the obvious: it's recruiting and there are no gentlemen when it comes to recruiting. The media interpreted it the way they wanted and ran with it. Fans eat that stuff up. Tressel and Rodriguez have done coaching clinics together in the past, fwiw.

fOSU just got a former U of I commit to switch to them the other day. The whole thing is stupid. Tressel was just making an off the cuff remark.

I guess I'll just wrap up where Michigan players ended up:

Long and Henne went to the Dolphins. I love that Chad ended up here, should get a real shot at some time this year.

Crable went to the Patrios. Probably the best system for him to be in. If Belichick can get him to cut down on ******ed plays, he could turn out pretty decent.

Manningham went to the Giants. Probably would have been better for him to go to a team with a strong, leader-type QB (which I still don't think Eli is at all) to avoid a situation like what happened with him and Mallett. I think he's the biggest boom or bust prospect of all the Michigan guys drafted.

Hart went to the Colts. Colts probably saw that he's a good pass blocker and might get him a few touches. Their depth chart after Addai is super weak and Hart has a change to work his way to a few regular touches per game if he works out. Colts probably thought it was worth taking a flyer on him on pass blocking ability alone and his college production.

I think Jamar Adams signed a free agent deal (Vikings maybe?) but I'm not sure. His wikipedia is hilarious right now though:

This is from drafttracker on ESPN regarding Mike Hart -
Quote:
At one time he was a first-round prospect, but he dropped due to pre-draft workouts. He is a natural runner who displays great patience setting up his blocks. He is very slippery and is able to break arm tackles. But he is very undersized, lacks top-end speed and shows an inability to be very helpful in pass-protection.
I always thought he was pretty good in pass protection, but then again, I'm not a scout.

I think Manningham will be fine. There are a couple veteran receivers and a coach that will bench/cut him without much debate.

Hart is really good at pass protection. He can shed his blocks and get out in the flats pretty well too. I think he'll find his niche in the NFL. Colts are a good organization for him to be in.

Nah, everything I've read projects Michigan to have 2-3 QBs in the class. They need them.

Fwiw, I have no problem with recruiting until the end. This is more of a shot at Tiller for labeling RR a snake oil salesman with a wizard hat than it is at Tressel. He's doing nothing every major program in the country isn't doing.

I trust he's being sarcastic. He has recruited very well so far. Jumped in late and didn't really lose anyone. Couldn't get a QB but given how late in the game we were that was going to be tough. he's got two 4-stars now so I like where we're at. Just get some friggin' defensive ends already.

I saw Beaver play last fall and he was very impressive. Will fit Michigans program well. He's still somewhat raw but has as much upside as probably any QB in the state of Texas. Mechanics/accuracy needs work but has loads of potential.

It was sarcasm; Michigan bringing in another highly rated QB recruit is more proof Rodriguez isn't having any problems on the recruiting trail, and comparisons to a "Bill Callahanesque destruction of the program" despite the fact he hasn't missed a beat in the one metric we have to judge him on so far (recruiting) -- that's two very good QBs he's snagged, plus two other top 50 recruits (Will Campbell and Justin Turner).

More evidence of this: Rivals #70 ranked player in the country, WR Bryce McNeal is rumored (apparently confirmed now) to have committed to Michigan.

Strange that according to Scout Michigan is not even on McNeal's radar.

Yeah, recent blog updates suggest he actually hasn't committed yet, although at least Brian at mgoblog still thinks it's a foregone conclusion:
