Nah, we're a good 2 or 3 injuries away from complete train wreck.

Outside WR will be OK with Black, DPJ and Collins.

Slot has Perry, Schoenle, Martin and could plug in Evans if needed. Could even drink the Jake McCurry kool aid.

Plenty of TEs, can always use Gentry outside if need be the way Penn State would move Gesicki around.

Losing McDoom isn't a huge deal and it sounds like it's been expected since spring.

McDoom had merely 16 catches for 140 yards in 21 games
He was probably 6th or worse on the WR depth chart
Harbaugh rarely uses 4 or 5 WR sets preferring instead TEs or multiple backs
McDoom and Crawford left because they were unlikely to contribute

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Add up all the players we've lost this off season. How much has this negatively impacted our national title equity? Our B1G championship equity? Our Beat Ohio State equity?

Answer to all three: Conservatively speaking, less than 1%. We're doing fine. Or I guess I should say we're doing fine so far barring a significant fall camp injury.

Normally I like people leaving because they almost always suck but given that our recruiting is now mostly "take MAC talent and claim to have uncovered someone every good team overlooked," Im less enthusiastic.

I mean maybe Georgia will be the next Bama with their so called historically great recruiting. Idk. What I do know is that there is a great chance that this current georgia team (or last year's team) might be the 6th best team in the B1G right now if they were thrown in this nightmare conference.

It really is beyond sick how good the B1G is right now. Been watching for 30 years and I've never seen 5 strong teams in the conference at once. Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Penn State all have rosters that deserve to be in the playoffs. And the funny thing is there's a decent chance that nobody goes the playoffs this year since everyone can always knock each other off. The closest comparison I can think of to this year off the top of my head is 1999 when there were 4 strong teams in the conference: Michigan, MSU, Penn St, and Wisconsin.

Thinking about the first two years I watched Michigan seriously (1988/1989). Michigan didn't lose one conference game over that stretch. Great accomplishment. But was it? My god the conference was such a joke back then compared to now. Wisconsin and Northwestern's football programs effectively didn't exist. Penn State was in another conference. Ohio State and Michigan state weren't even good teams during that stretch. All Michigan really had to do over that span was not beat themselves and get upset by some lesser team. I remember the media trying to drum up Michigan vs Illinois. The great Jeff George! Oh no!! As a kid I just rolled my eyes. What a beautiful schedule man.

Now I'm reminded of the 2016 schedule, man that was the prefect schedule to get to the playoffs. Sigh.

Harbaugh names Shea starter, confirmed.

Will the books adjust their lines before ILP gets there to put down more money?

I’d assume Shea starting was already pretty baked in.

In other news, not surprising to see Grant Newsome take a medical. That would have been some story coming back but I'm pretty sure I would have retired long ago in the same circumstances.

O line is fine bc Warriner is not a ****** and I guess Shea can actually move. Insiders saying Hudson > JBB and Runyan are your tackles. Interior of the O Line should be very good

Altho predictable, it's still important that this happened. Cuz in sports a lot of "predictable" things don't happen. This is further confirmation that Shea is the real deal, and that this season is gonna be special. Shea was so ahead of everyone Harbaugh couldn't even fake it anymore. This is what we want to see if we're hoping for big things like conference/natty championships. Gentlemen I think we're gonna be really ****ing on this year.

I couldn't have predicted it because I though he had been the starter for a long time already.

omfg this post is the first I saw of this. God ****ing damnit. Legit devastated. Our best playmaker we've had since Manningham. Any pie in the sky hopes of a national title are out the window without Black.

At Mgoblog now. Getting tilted by people saying stuff like "Perry and Collins have been getting tons of praise" like everything is gonna be alright. First of all preseason hype is made for entertainment. It barely correlates with truth at all. How does anybody who has been a college football fan for more than 5 minutes not know this?!?!? We just lost our best WR in over a decade, the kinda guy that can give an Alabama/Ohio State defense fits. Only a complete ****ing moron would try to placate themselves or anyone else with 'such and such replacements looked great in practice guys'. This is a devastating loss that will cost this team 1 or maybe even 2 wins. This loss takes us right out of playoff contention. There is no one on this current roster who can replace Tarik Black.

Legit sucks about the kid.

How are you feeling about ND now? Shaky O-line and no Black probably doesn’t bode well for what will be top to bottom a very good ND defense (probably the best since ‘12)

This injury is a non-factor vs ND for the same reason it's a non-factor vs Rutgers. Notre Dame simply does not have the personnel to make it a competitive matchup.

Without Black, @MSU and @Ohio State are now pretty much scheduled losses. When you have the toughest schedule of all time you cant lose the one guy who can stretch the field.

unless DPJ got vaporized from space at the same time black supposedly was injured, Michigan still has a guy who can blow the top off a defense on command
