I mean maybe Georgia will be the next Bama with their so called historically great recruiting. Idk. What I do know is that there is a great chance that this current georgia team (or last year's team) might be the 6th best team in the B1G right now if they were thrown in this nightmare conference.
It really is beyond sick how good the B1G is right now. Been watching for 30 years and I've never seen 5 strong teams in the conference at once. Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, and Penn State all have rosters that deserve to be in the playoffs. And the funny thing is there's a decent chance that nobody goes the playoffs this year since everyone can always knock each other off. The closest comparison I can think of to this year off the top of my head is 1999 when there were 4 strong teams in the conference: Michigan, MSU, Penn St, and Wisconsin.
Thinking about the first two years I watched Michigan seriously (1988/1989). Michigan didn't lose one conference game over that stretch. Great accomplishment. But was it? My god the conference was such a joke back then compared to now. Wisconsin and Northwestern's football programs effectively didn't exist. Penn State was in another conference. Ohio State and Michigan state weren't even good teams during that stretch. All Michigan really had to do over that span was not beat themselves and get upset by some lesser team. I remember the media trying to drum up Michigan vs Illinois. The great Jeff George! Oh no!! As a kid I just rolled my eyes. What a beautiful schedule man.
Now I'm reminded of the 2016 schedule, man that was the prefect schedule to get to the playoffs. Sigh.
