So I realize I'm a debbie downer Michigan fan as it is, but we're going to be so bad next year. Our best player is probably Novak. Or maybe Morris. I like Novak, but ideally he should be a complimentary piece on a good team, not one of the go-to-guys. No one who can shoot, except maybe Smotrycz, assuming that his hype pans out better than Vogrich's.

And we still have no size.

Manny would have at least kept us respectable. It's going to be ugly, I think.

Douglass > Novak. Stu's progress defensively and handling the ball was a huge positive this year.

also, sparty's success has really got me down and now that manny is leaving who do we have that can possibly step up and fill that void? I really never though manny wanted to be playing for Beilein put he still had talent and now that's gone and our best player is novak? Unless someone takes a huge step in the development it's a joke Beilein hasn't been able to get more talent

I think the talent will be there...eventually. Vogrich, McLeimans, Smotrycz, Hardaway, Morris, and Zeigler (if we land him) might form a nice core that can compete in the upper tier of the Big Ten...someday. I think if they added a true big into this mix, you could see a lot of potential. The Cronin career ending injuries hurt.

"Someday" won't be next year, though, which is going to be bad.

the 2007 WV team was picked last in the big east. they didn't do GREAT, didn't make the tournament, but won the NIT. i think we'll be similar.

i'd expect the offense to run more like it's supposed to and there's no way we shoot any worse. defense might suck, but it's not like sims and harris were known for their d.

Funny enough, Manny's defense is why teams started recruiting him. His offense didn't really develop until his senior year when he exploded.

if we went like 9-3 ooc (weak schedule hopefully), then 7-11/8-10 in conference, that would put us on the bubble.

Will be very hard to be close to .500 in conference next year. We were 7-11 in conference *this year* and the two best players won't be coming back, and what is coming back probably won't be very good.

UMhoops has a Q&A with Evan Smotrycz. He seems like a very humble, hard-working guy. He said he has been putting on weight, and is up to 225. Hopefully he can get to 230+ by the start of the season.
