BEILEIN

Matthews is gone and possibly Iggy is gone. Everyone else should be back.

His hook shot in crunch time was stone cold wicked against Maryland.

If I saw the box score correctly, all 10 starters scored in double figures, but only one (Iggy) had more than 12 points.

I wonder if that has happened before.

I saw the last time the starting 5 all had double digit was Illinois back in January

Also never fails when I talk to my dad after games like 90% of the talk is about z and his hook shots lol

I thought Michigan looked stellar offensively the past two games going Livers in place of Mathews. I wonder if Beilein will continue with that lineup going forward even if Mathews comes healthy soon

Pretty much expected the pissing and moaning on the boards after last night's dreadful performance but that's the internet for you.

Still a great season, even if no rangs and no final four. 30 wins including pastings of Villanova, UNC and Purdue. Only 7 losses (yeah, three were to Sparty. They were just better this year). Guys who are easy to root for and work hard at what they do. Super coaching staff, wouldn't trade them for anyone.

Future is bright, too. Pretty much everyone except Matthews and Austin Davis should be back. I suppose Eli Brooks may think about transferring for PT but I dunno if he will. We haven't seen anything good on the floor shooting-wise from Nunez or DeJulius but they're both supposed to be shooters.

Coach Beilein will need to make some adjustments to his offense to deal with teams that switch every screen and play elite defense. He will, of that I have no doubt.

It just feels like everybody on our team is so offensively limited, and that got super exposed last night.

Simpson and Matthews can't go left
Brazdeikis is slow side to side, he telegraphs where his drives are going to go and doesn't have the agility/quickness to change direction
Poole is basically just a shooter at this point, not much of a threat to drive at all
Livers is basically the same
Everybody knows where Simpson's drives want to end so they stop him from getting there

And we grab no offensive rebounds.

When it comes to playing elite defenses we just need more ways to score. Look at a guy like Jerome going against an elite defense. He has a complete offensive arsenal which is difficult to defend one on one.

We have nobody even close to that level of skill.

Guys need to have the ability to knock down a midrange jumper even if it's not our best option. In games against tough defenses sometimes that's the best shot you're gonna get.

Teske needs to learn to take advantage when he gets switched into a good matchup. Right now he doesn't really have an offensive game except for assisted FG's. If we run a high pick and he gets a guard switched on to him, he needs to be able to threaten to score in the post and force teams to either give up an easy bucket or double and open up a kickout for three.

One of Poole/Livers/Iggy needs to be able to develop a more well rounded game other than straight line drives and catch and shoot threes.

Seems like we’ve reached th pinnacle of not obviously cheating all the time programs. I’m good with that.

Seems like Michigan will be a top 5 KenPom and likely top 3 seed again next year. Cant make a long run every year. Jay Wrights failed to make the sweet 16 8 out of the last 10 years. Juat it what it is, Beileins built a monster though.

I mean, we won 30 games. We got to the Sweet 16. This was a outstanding year. That Freep article about how "John Beilein must adapt" becuz Texas Tech and Michigan State were better than us was utterly ridiculous.

And you return 2 of the 10 best defenders in the entire nation so all but assured a top 5 defense again. Just need a little more development offensively from some guys, which is a safe bet to happen consodering Beilein.

Team is going to look very different next year if Poole and Iggy stay in the draft. Neither is a first rounder imo but hey maybe playing in the G League or overseas isn't so bad.

I wonder if Eli Brooks holds off on any transfer thoughts until Poole makes a final decision.

Poole and Iggy staying in the draft = we are not making the tournament.

Poole and Iggy coming back = we can win the whole ****ing thing.

Poole and Iggy staying in draft + Fields going to Ohio State = turn off TVs, time to read more books for a year or two.

Come on ILP, still going to have a Teske/Simpson/Livers core. Even with two scrubs surrounding them, thats a top 10 defense.

If Zavier can spend all offseason adding a flying hook shot, he can add a catch and shoot 3 point jumper this offseason.

Both Poole and Iggy were a couple of refinements away from player of the year candidate. Tremendous talents. To lose both would be devastating. There's no way to replace that right away if you're not Kentucky, Duke, etc.
