yeah this.

should have just headed it, punched, something. caught it right at the edge of the box, prob still was holding it as his momentum carried him out of the box before he dropped it. oh well, no harm done, big 3 points.

huge game vs Honduras in Tonroto on Tuesday

re: JDG

who else do we have...Dunfield? lol

He got cut from a t3 england team, to sign with tfc, to get cut a month later, he signed with montreal when they were in the CSL to get cut by them. He is a fat ****

wow unbelievable, Dunfield is terrible. one of the worst players i've ever had the mispleasure of watching on a regular basis. i know JDG has underperformed, especially wrt his salary, but come on.

weird, i thought they parted ways with Gerba a while ago. but yeah, he played a few times for us while unattached, which is hilarious. and he still scored goals somehow. legend.

bigd posted this in the other thread...not every day you get rejected by a player on your own turf, while he's wearing your gear. so awesome, and so very typical of Canadian soccer.

shouldn't be long until Hoilett says no too at this rate...

decent game vs Honduras, a bunch of free headers towards the end that could have let Canada steal all 3 points, and would have left them in a great position with 2 wins in 2 games. but alas, not to be, and once again oh so Canadian.

i love canadians. the only thing keeping canada from being one of the best countries in the world is that you picked up too much of the united state's trash

but lol at your country and the way they treat people at the border. --but i guess that's the way it has to be due to the terrorist problem caused partially by the US

lol at United States internet people bashing canada. long live canada one of the greatest countries on earth

*bump* for massive, "not a must-win, but would be pretty damn nice and helpful if they could" match at home vs Panama today

see:

obv 3 points puts them top of the group, and in a decent spot going forward, whereas a draw is not so good. and if they lose, ugh. meanwhile Honduras are in Cuba for what is basically a must-win for them, a draw or Cuban victory there would be amazing for the 2 teams playing in Toronto tonight.

If the Canadian men’s soccer team is to advance to the next stage of World Cup qualifying, let alone the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, it is going to need one of its best performances Friday night.

After nearly three months between qualifying matches, Canada will host Panama at BMO Field, with first place in their third-stage group on the line. And since only the top two countries in each group move on to the final round of CONCACAF qualifying, the match has become a critical one for the team.

“Every home game is a must-win,” said Canadian forward Patrice Bernier, who plays for the Montreal Impact of Major League Soccer. “If we win at home, it sets the tone for the [rematch Tuesday in Panama City] and gives us a better hope.

“This is a very important game to send a message in our group.”

And the team, now healthy, figures to be a stronger threat this time around. Defender Marcel de Jong is back after a broken ankle forced him out of the previous two qualifiers, while veteran midfielder Atiba Hutchinson has finally recovered from a recurring knee injury. Head coach Stephen Hart feels Hutchinson’s return will significantly help bolster the team.

"The next two games for us are huge," said captain Kevin McKenna. "Especially [Friday] night. It's probably the biggest game I've played in with the national team, probably every player here also."

"I think we're all looking forward to it. Obviously everyone's a bit on edge."

Canada has never lost to Panama in World Cup qualifying games, holding a record of two victories and two draws against its Central American opponent.

"We have a good belief within the team," said coach Stephen Hart after practice on Thursday, "but for that belief to continue, you need to continue to get results."

of course the fear is what usually happens when we come up in these huge, must-win type games...

ok so Honduras won 3-0 in Cuba, so yeah, kinda a must-win game now, and almost must-draw or better on Tuesday. win today & draw Tuesday puts it:

Canada - 8
Panama - 7
Honduras - 7 (assuming they win @ home vs Cuba, which is like 99% likely)

then a likely home win vs Cuba, and after that hopefully even a draw won't be necessary @Honduras in the final game. so yeah, no win today and it gets pretty damn tricky...

MUST WIN TODAY, PLZ NO CLASSIC FAIL JOB

wow big win, really pulled that one out of the fire just barely. good play in the 1st half, probably deserved a goal at some point, but it didn't happen. not so good in the 2nd half, maybe didn't deserve anything, but some quick thinking from Hutchinson & DeRo, and here we are!

now math time:

then a likely home win vs Cuba...
Canada - 11
Panama - 10, 8, or 7
Honduras - 7, 8, or 10

which leaves the final games:

Canada - 11 or 12 (14 highly unlikely)
Panama - 13, 11, or 10 (assuming they get the win in Cuba)
Honduras - 8, 9, or 11 (if we can hold them to a draw down there), 11, 12, or 14 (if we can't)

so yeah, we need a draw on Tuesday badly, and we might need to beat up Cuba at home in October for the goal difference. here's to hoping that we don't need a result in Honduras in the final match.

but who knows i guess, suppose anything can happen, have been some odd results already. (Panama winning 2-0 in Honduras, Panama narrowly beating Cuba 1-0 at home)
